The two times I've been here, it's pretty busy with people who seem to really appreciate this amazing restaurant. Fair warning: most of the staff is not English speaking so you'll get a chance to practice your Spanish here just like I did. If you're lucky a patron may help you order like one did for me although I didn't really need the help. We ordered quite a bit of food. A seafood tostada, a pupusa with chicharron and queso, a mulita (if I remember correctly), rice and beans, and birria tacos. Every single item I ordered blew me away. Wow wow wow. The staff were so friendly and were very communicative with me even with my broken Spanish. This is a must try if you're in the Lindbergh area. Also it's cash only!

But lucky me, The Spotted Trotter was out at the Grant Park Farmers Market that I attended recently and I got to check them out irl and support. (I told the gentleman who was at the table why I hadn't been in yet and he did explain that there was an easier way to enter. Ooops.) He was also so patient with me and explained the offerings and how I could use them all. Their menu board was calling my name and although I didn't need to buy anything, we love supporting local, yes? Yes. They had so many delicious options. Sausages, cheeses, all kinds of cured meats - just a carnivore's dream. I can only imagine how amazing the in-store experience is! I had no clue what to grab but ended up going for some calabrian pancetta that is crazyyy delicious. I can't wait to visit the brick and mortar and check out the rest of their options.

Rice, Beans, Tortillas cost extra. Comes with red or green hot salsa. If you don't want to drive all the way to Brito's for grilled chicken this is the place. In my opinion after having Brito's, El Progresso is better. Just remember if you're coming around lunch time it may be busy and they sellout quickly. Parking lot fills up quickly too. La Unica offers small tacos (more on that in a second), burritos, tortas, and the usual fare. Just looking for a quick afternoon snack, I opted for two of their small tacos which come on corn tortillas that are about half the size of standard corn tortillas. There's nothing wrong with that, of course, and the tacos were piled high and delicious. If you're particularly hungry I would suggest getting 3-4 of them though. I went with my usual standbys and ordered one taco each of carne asada and carnitas. The carnitas were a little greasy but still very satisfying as was the carne asada. The star of the show, however, is their red casera style hot sauce. This stuff will light you up and is exploding with the rich flavors of dried chilies which really come into their own once they blend with the flavors of your food. A teaspoon or two on your taco and you're in business!
