Chips, salsa, guacamole

The food was really good and the service was fast. The restaurant itself was really clean and comfortable.

Beef Flautas

Part of my Arvin/Lamont series, El Pueblo has been a staple in this community for years. Even under new ownership, the food still tastes the same, if not, is much better now than ever in my personal opinion. You eat with you eyes first and the plates here are appealing and appetizing to the senses. I normally come here for the half order of Cancun Shrimp. Another favorite of mine is the Camarones a la Diabla. However, I decided to veer off course today and ordered the Beef Flautas. The dish comes with 2 huge flautas. The filling is El Pueblo's signature tender shredded beef and cheese rolled in flour tortilla. The flauta is crisp-fried golden brown and topped with condiments: pico de gallo, sour cream and guacamole. The plate comes standard with beans and rice. Their El Pueblo tea was also refreshing on this particularly hot day. There really isn't anything on the menu that isn't worth trying. If you're not familiar with this restaurant and in the area to attend a business meeting, suggest to come meet here for lunch. It's also a great spot for after-work birthday celebrations. And if you're like me and had one too many margs, you'll end up having pictures wearing the sombrero display.

This plate was $25. Rip Off!

Staying in Bakersfield for a week and I wanted to go try this place after years of not coming here. I was taken aback when I ordered their lunch special. This here is about $26. If there were more real stuff and no imitation fillers, maybe. This is a rip off. If you are feeling like Mariscos, just drive further down to Las Isilitas where you will have the real deal and cost less. This place is rediculous. Not the El Pueblo I knew for sure.

Combo Fajitas: Steak, Chicken + Shrimp

I have been coming to this restaurant since junior high. Cancun Shrimp has been a favorite dish of mine since then (approximately 20 years) and every time I order it never disappoints. Tastes the same every time...which is absolutely AMAZING!! We drive from out of town to get our fix. Today my husband had the fajitas and was blown away. Not to mention exceptional service! Love, love, love this place!!

Food was good just small portions and it's 2.99 to refill a very small bowl of salsa to eat with the chips. Had no idea it was this pricy.

Haven't been to El Pueblo for a while. But still some of the best Mexican Seafood I have ever eaten. The Puerto Vallarta is outstanding!

I am on a diet, but when a co-worker suggested we go to this restaurant close to where we work -…read moreone that I had not been to yet, I jumped at this opportunity. She described it as a small hole in the wall that has incredible, delicious authentic Mexican food. Very true! It smelled wonderful when we walked in - yes, it was small place with a nice patio to sit. The people who worked there were terribly friendly. We were given free samples of aqua Fresca to try - and they were delicious. I couldn't follow exactly what the owner said was in them (my Spanish is terrible)- but the first had pineapple and cucumbers I believe and it was so refreshing and wonderful. The second tasted as if it had chocolate in it, but when my friend clarified with the owner - no, there wasn't chocolate in it. It reminded me of Mexican hot chocolate - only served cold. It was so good. My friend got the Horchata, which she always gets. I couldn't decide between the grilled fish and shrimp plate or the steak ranchero, so the very accommodating owner said he would make me a "plate" (singular) with both! How nice! I love it when I can get food the way I like it! In the end, I was served two big separate plates of delicious food !- The fish which I believe was tilapia - was perfectly grilled, lightly breaded. I asked for a salad, to go with it (passing on the beans and rice), and I was surprised when the salad came with a lot of sliced avocado. Then he brought out a whole plate of the Steak Ranchero. It was sooo spicy (even for me), but I couldn't stop eating it! I was on a diet, like I said, but who could resist fresh tortillas! My friend got the quesadilla, which is her favorite. It was huge... and she was very happy with it. She's a tiny thing, but she ate all of hers. The owner came by a handful of times to check on us. Did I need a box to take my food home? He assumed I guess that I would not be eating all that food. "OH NO!" I told him, "I'm eating all of it!" Our intention was to give the sweet faced dog who was hanging out, a bit of our lunch, but we ate everything except a few tortillas. I tried to get a little bit of the juice from my plates to flavor the tortilla and offered it to her. She said, "Eh, I'm on Keto" and walked away. Oh well.
