The owner came over to chat with us during our meal, and he was incredibly kind and welcoming. You can really tell it's a family run restaurant, and it has such a warm, inviting atmosphere. Came for Mothers Day since my grandma was dying to go. This is her main spot, and even knew some of the workers. I decided to get a carne asada burrito, I wanted something filling for the day. Quite the opposite, unfortunately. The burrito had only the meat, then just rice and beans on the side. It felt like I ordered from the kids menu haha! They also didn't have any horchata which was more devastating. The rice was ok, it was a bit mushy. So I just enjoyed some of the beans and tortilla chips. This is a restaurant I would've never found without the yelp app. We were attending an event at Bakersfield College. Afterwards, we were looking for a place to eat nearby. Well, right across the street from BC, hidden in this little strip mall, between two empty businesses, is this wonderful little Mexican restaurant. We were seated immediately. It has a comfortable interior and very nice booths. When we ordered the chili Verde, the waiter said it was spicy today. We went ahead and ordered it anyway. I love a restaurant that makes it food in a traditional way. Our order came out right away. The portions are more than ample. We split this entrée and we were both still stuffed. The pork was tender, and as promised, spicy. There were large portions of rice and beans. There were also complementary chips and salsa. This is a hidden gem of a Mexican restaurant in the Northeast. If you haven't tried Loma Linda and you like Mexican food, you are missing out. Make sure you give this place a try. read more

I have had Loma Linda bookmarked for quite some time. I almost could not find it--being it is tucked inwards and the name lettering is not prominent. Inside was very clean and inviting. The older gentleman who served us was so nice and down-to-earth. This was an evening spent with my girlfriends who are also my colleagues. But I always have a to-go order for my husband and son at home. The gentleman was kind enough to point out that I had ordered the enchiladas Verde with pollo but the green sauce had bits of pork cooked in it. My family and I do not consume pork and I was very thankful he told me. For my in-person experience, I ordered the site mares soup and it was exceptional. So fresh and well-seasoned and delicious on its own. The prices are very reasonable and portions are generous. This may be my new favorite Mexican restaurant. read more

Took my parents out for lunch on a Wednesday. Loma Linda offers lunch specials Monday through Friday from 11-3pm. The prices on the lunch specials range from 12.99-15.99. I ordered the Chile Verde Burrito, which came with rice and beans on the side. The burrito itself was great. It had nice chunks of pork. I opted to get my burrito wet (chile verde sauce on top). Rice and beans were great tasting as well. Everything was HOT! So watch those plates. Service was great, the young man was very friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. We have been to this location multiple times and I have to say it isn't what it used to be. We had a get together with some friends and family a week or so ago and wasn't very pleased with the food. Service is always stellar there but the overall food, all around, was just not good. From the bits of stale, straight from the bag chips, the bland watery "salsa", to the entrees, the food was lack luster and was just slightly warm bland food. Besides the fajitas, which came out on a sizzling plate, every other food item was just kinda warm. Only way to describe it. The location is sadly on a quieter part of town but if the food isn't hot and flavorful, I truly don't know why we would waste the gas to drive to this location. Maybe it was a bad night for the cooking staff but overall I had to give a lower score. Service was good and the place was somewhat clean looking. Overall three stars and hope this place is able to change a few things around, if and when we ever do partake in Loma Linda again. Sorry not photos of videos to back up my rating/review. This mom and pop restaurant is absolutely awesome. They have a family feel the minute you walk in. Everyone is really nice and every dish that I have tried have all been very good. I've been here several times. I've tried the carnitas, chimichanga with shredded beef, and Loma Linda burrito with chicken. Not one single one of these dishes disappointed. This Wednesday, for date night, my husband and I planned to check out Loma Linda Restaurant, located on Mount Vernon Avenue across the street from Bakersfield College's Stadium. We've heard excellent reviews about it and were excited to experience it. Upon seeing the exterior of the restaurant, I must admit that my expectations were relatively low. Given the reviews I had heard, I wondered what all the fuss was about. As we arrived at Loma Linda, the maitre d's warm smile welcomed us inside. Without any delay, he ushered us to a cozy booth where we could take in the vibrant décor of the dining room. Its cheerful atmosphere and cleanliness were impressive. A friendly waiter greeted us and took both our drink and food orders. We both decided to order a la carte; I went for a chili verde tostada, while my husband ordered a chili verde burrito. The drinks and food arrived quickly, and I looked forward to digging into my tostada. It looked so delicious with the sour cream and guacamole on top, and the best part is that there was no extra cost for those toppings! The meal was incredibly flavorful and satisfying. It was so good that we both fell silent as we savored every bite. The margaritas were bursting with flavor, prompting us to inquire about the house tequila. We discovered it was made with Jose Cuervo Gold. I can't wait to visit Loma Linda Restaurant on Mount Vernon Avenue again. Their Mexican food is so good that I'm definitely going to be a return customer! Loma Linda definitely deserves five stars. read more

Came here for lunch with my sister. It's located in a strip mall, right across the street from Bakersfield College Stadium. It looks like this place has been here for a while, if you catch my drift. For lunch not being so busy, the waiter wasn't very attentive. They do have high-chairs for the kiddos and the restroom was clean. As for the food itself, I had a lunch special that came with two enchiladas & beans and rice. The enchiladas were tasty, the beans were good (could have been less runny) and rice was alright. This location has always been on the rotation of places to take my grandma. The atmosphere is nice and clean and we like the fact they open early on the weekends. The food is good, always consistent. I typically order chilaquiles which never disappoint! The coffee is always fresh even when ordering decaf. The staff is always friendly even when they seem to be busy, always checking up on you and offering refills. We came in as a party of 6 to have lunch at approx 12:50p on a Sunday. We were finally seated at 1:20p, ordered at 1:35p, and got our food at 1:55p. The long wait was the reason for the review getting 2 taken away. Otherwise, the food was great, the service was very good, and the owner came to apologize for the wait. We even had a conversation regarding the restaurant potentially expanding with the outdoor patio they have. They have a very good location being right across the street from Bakersfield College. As far as the food is concerned, I had a two taco plate, one chicken, one shredded beef. The taste was great, but the shell got soggy. My son had a child's bean burrito and he enjoyed it. My grandmother ordered a chile verde burrito and she said it had good flavor. It was more than enough as she took some home. I had heard about this place a few times and even driven past it without really knowing what it was so I decided to stop in for lunch with my wife over the weekend and give it a try. The staff was friendly and seated us right away. The chips were good and the salsa is pretty good, I would call it a garden salsa. It's chunky and not very spicy just kind of mild with decent flavor. My wife had the chile relleno and she enjoyed it, said the sauce and flavor was good and it's something she'd order again happily. I went for the chimichanga and I did enjoy it but I found it to be a tad dry. It would be a game-changer for the chimi if they put just a little sauce over the top. Let me begin by saying that he never greeted us. He just handed us a menu, and walked us over to a corner table. After a 15 minute phone call in the kitchen he decided to take our drink order. Keep in mind the Restaurant only had 5 people in it. This particular morning it was obvious that his cell phone was top priority over his patrons. As for the food it was horrible just like our whole experience. Loma Linda you lost two customers today due to your superb customer service, and your unwillingness to show some personal etiquette! I have been coming to Loma Linda's for over 20 years. It's one of my absolute favorite Mexican food restaurants. It's clean, quaint, and the staff is extremely friendly. I haves ordered the same thing for the past 20+ years; chile Colorado. It's perfectly spicy, tender, flavorful, warm, and satisfying in every way. I cannot find this dish ANYWHERE else that even comes close. Their salsa is also a favorite. It's chunky and perfect for dipping chips and tortillas.
