This restaurant is very cheap but the food matches the quality of what you pay. It's super greasy and under seasoned. The portions are big but I wouldn't want to eat lots more than a couple bites. Great Mexican food in a small town! The chips are delicious and crunchy with a nice salsa this is enjoyable and not spicy. The steak fajita plate was much, much more food than I was prepared for! On September 20, 2022 at about 5 PM, three of us had dinner at El Rancherito Mexican restaurant. All of our meals were terrible. We did not eat two of the meals, they were extremely dry and had absolutely no taste, very bland. The chicken taco salad was made with dark meat, which is unheard of these days. White chicken meat is the only way to go not dark meat. The salsa sauce was OK and the chips were also OK. We had a waiter who did not understand English and was not courteous courteous enough to know to ask someone to come to our table to interpret. We asked him repeatedly if the chicken they used in the taco salad was white meat he had absolutely no idea what we were talking about, hopeless. We have definitely put this on our list of places never to repeat. Do not recommend this place even though it is extremely popular, hard to understand why. read more

We were a party of 6 and arrived on a busy Friday evening. We were seated almost immediately which was a bonus as it appeared we got there just ahead of the dinner rush. The margarita's were tasty, but slightly overpriced based on other locations specials. Food was decent but not outstanding by any means. The reason for the four stars was not the food quality, but the lack of service at our table. Nothing lowers the tip faster than a drink, regardless of water of adult beverage, sitting empty on the table for most of the meal. Alcoholic beverages have a huge markup in restaurants and they should, from a profit stance, should never go dry unless at the customers request. At about $3 for a glass of tea, although refills were free, again the glass should never be empty. The location was nice, atmosphere was vibrant, and the noise level was not so much where you had to shout to your friends on the other side of the table. I would recommend this location but I would caution service may be under par. read more

Tried this place for the first time (visiting from out of state). On the outside, the building doesn't have a nice appearance. Inside looked nicer with the decorations. Music and kind staff. Immediately greeted with chips and salsa. Quality was alright. One person in my party ordered a kids taco, which came with rice and beans. Another ordered a dry (on outside) burrito with only beans, rice, and pico. I ordered a burrito with all those things, cheese, and avocado. Food was prepared in a timely manner. When the food came, I was surprised that salsa was poured over it. I did not ask for a burrito Mojado. I kept it because they would've dumped it anyway. It was missing the pico. The other person who had a burrito was given it with rice and beans on the side. She turned it down and asked the server to bring it back. Also she asked for no meat, but they put meat inside. She said multiple times in spanish and English she doesn't want a wet burrito. When they returned the food a 2nd time, it had Salsa on top. She sent it back to the kitchen. The 3rd time, they gave her what she asked. The server disappeared then after and did not ask how we were doing. Somewhat disappointed since this place had a high star rating. 5 for food. 1 for service! This was the only spot in Quincy that truly caught my eye. They make some seriously good food. I had the carne asada taco, cilantro and onion style, with an addition of sour cream and avocado. I was pleasantly surprised that I got my piece of happiness on a hard shell. IT WAS DELISH. They offer a lot of combos (almost too many.. it's hard for the eye to read down the menu), but is nice since it offers a variety if you can't decide what you'd like. With my taco, I got two chicken enchiladas. ALSO the bomb dot com. For the price, this all really couldn't be beat. It was so good, in fact, that i had to come back the next day, and do another re-order for the same meal (our leftovers were forgotten in a friend's fridge the night before). On the second go around, the food was still top-notch. Other things at our table: the Paella. not your typical, but omg i could have eaten this all day and night, and been happy. Mango margarita: pretty good, but how can you mess up mango! served in a beat-up, plastic soda pitcher, which seemed pretty cheap. we had it on the rocks, and i personally prefer it frozen. meh. Our server was mean, and when we called him over, he immediately shook his hands and said, "NO! NO more food! You can't order more!" ...... i only wanted a cup of sour cream. He retrieved, but looked hasty. It's like he was only nice for only as long as he had to be. He also was very rude about paying our check, and rushing us out. We were only a group of 4. Not rambunctious. This was so unnecessary. The next day, I called an order ahead of time. I actually can speak a decent amount of Spanish. I asked the person on the telephone, who said english was okay... but when we came to pick up our order, my ENTIRE order was botched! This made me so mad, since i ended up staying an extra 30 minutes for the waiters to correct the order.... just to fire up 2 more tacos. This was absurd. El ranch is my favorite Mexican place in the world. For as much food as you get it's cheap and it's fast if you are in a hurry but want a real meal. I think this place is good- but nothing specifically I was blown away. I had the Fajita Nachos with chicken. The chicken was delicious- as was the gravy that was poured throughout. It's a strange way to make fajitas/nachos, and I'm sure the gravy has added to the popularity of this dish- in addition to adding to the calories. The salsa served with the chips was definitely missing something- cilantro? chile? pepper? Actually, a little cilantro on the Fajita Nachos would have helped gain my favor now that I think about it. As someone from Texas, moving to a small are (Quincy), I never thought I'd enjoy any Mexican restaurant here. I'm so happy to have found El Rancherito, and I absolutely love it! There queso is honestly to die for. They provide great customer service as well! A few weeks after my surgery when I finally got an appetite this is the first place I wanted to go!
