This was very fresh and refreshing tasting and full of flavor, great with the table tortilla chips. Next she had the carnitas tacos and they were tasty. I had the burrito loco with steak. Wow, this thing was huge and tasty. Enough left over for lunch the next day. Nothing better than a consistent mexican restaurant. Our waitress was very good and friendly. Gotta watch these people closely. Check what they charge you against what the menu says. They charged me $15.99 for a sandwich that was $12.99 on the menu. That's only a $3 overcharge - but I ended up paying $30 plus tip, for a sandwich, cheese dip and a tea. (The ticket says 2 people-but wifey just had some chips. We BOTH usually eat for just a few bucks more.) The sandwich was dry with no flavor. I thought it would be similar to a torta de asada. It wasn't. The cheese dip was good. We've been customers for years. The guy that was the manager is no longer there. The place has gone down hill since Adan left. The wait staff was arguing in front is customers. People were going to the hostess stand bitching about service. That didn't happen when Adan was there. We sat at the bar and witnessed multiple people compiling about food and service. What a shame. We use to enjoy this place, but we are done. Our waitress was super sweet, but she got chewed out by another waiter because she waited on a customer who had been sitting there forever. Came here for lunch and the service is meh. Nothing great about it, you had to ask for refills, and they gave us silverware that was wrapped in the napkin and dirty. Like a wrapper was on the fork. Like how did they miss that. The sopa con pollo broth was fantastic. The vegetables still had a crunch to them. I hate soggy vegetables. The avacado given to me was brown (should not serve this). My soup didn't come out until 10 mins after my husband's fajitas and he won't eat until we both are served so his food was cold. Stopped by shortly before they closed for a quick bite to eat and a drink and I was not disappointed. The waiter, Carlos, was very hospitable., friendly and engaging. The place was practically empty and the bar looked closed but he still made us drinks and let us order food. I had the blue margarita and my friend had a "top shelf" margarita. I would have given 5 stars but they played us with saying Jose Cuervo is top shelf...it is NOT. Anyway, I ordered chicken taquito and shrimp tacos. Shrimp tacos are hit or miss but they were well flavored and perfectly cooked. I've been on a taquito kick lately and theirs did not disappoint. There were only three tables when we arrived at 4:30. The music was so loud and annoying. The waiters and manager were standing around the front by the door talking loudly, dancing and laughing loudly. The waiter never checked on us after bringing the food. The grilled chicken quesadilla hardly had cheese, the chicken was dry and salty and the tortilla was too small. I didn't particularly like hearing all the cursing as the waiters spoke to each other in Spanish. Every other word was a profanity. Carlos, our waiter was very attentive to getting our orders correct and entertaining us while he did with singing. We danced, had great food and of course some margaritas!! El Rancho Mexican Restaurant is a great option if you are in Daphne, Alabama and are craving Mexican food. If you are also traveling along Interstate 10 and feel the same kind of craving oh, this location is not far off of the highway. I was staying in a nearby Hotel and could not decide on what to grab for dinner and ended up choosing this place. Service was relatively good, though they could have came over and got us refills a little bit quicker than they did. Otherwise, there was no real issues. I ended up going with the Burrito Loco and it was a good choice. The Burrito Loco was well filled with me, I ordered the carne asada with it, and was pretty well prepared. It came with sour cream and guacamole on some shredded lettuce. The guacamole was not bad, in fact it was pretty good. It was pretty crowded for a Tuesday night and I heard them singing Happy Birthday at least twice, so people like to come here for celebrations. All in all, it was a positive experience. As I went to unzip my pants in the bathroom to urinate, I heard a loud scream from the kitchen next door through the walls and that prompted me to just urinate by the dumpster outside. The atmosphere and decor is actually better than most Mexican Restaurants in southern cities. Our waiter was kind, attentive and the food arrived quickly. Even though the flavor of the ground beef was bland, it does a good job at satisfying a Mexican craving. I had four beef tacos and left full and satisfied with my experience. The chips that came with the chips and salsa were almost too hard, but they were a good starter. It was really cold in there though. If I'm in the area again, I would probably return. read more

We have been here before,but they have upgraded the interior with more televisions and lots of pretty lights. The staff is still amazing. "Omar" always does a great job for us! The food was amazing like always served hot and on time with no complaints. We also got an appetizer and it come in plenty of time before our meal that we may enjoy it. The good: seating was quick and kids liked their desserts. The bad: my drink (margarita) was served with fruit flies in it and was insanely sugary. When we brought it up to the server a second drink was brought out even though I didn't want my drink replaced after having the original server with FRUIT FLIES in it. My daughter asked for a taco salad with no tomatoes. Said that three times. It still came out with tomatoes. Bill comes out and prices doesn't reflect the discrepancies with flies in the drink or tomatoes. Also: spoiler alert, this is the exact same menu as the other Mexican restaurant on the other side of Daphne with unflavorful/ canned Paso salsa (def not authentic). Man....where to start....I have been coming here with my family since it opened. Mr. Reuben has watched me grow up and now my kids. The facility is always clean. They try really hard to make improvements and updates to the facility. I really like how they are making the bathroom look. Which is always clean. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The food is good. My favorites are the Shredded Beef Flauta, Chicken Quesadilla, Mini Beef Chimichanga, and Steak Fajitas (don't forget the queso dip!!!). Over there many years I have been going, I rarely have had any problems with my food. I really appreciate their effort. I look forward to many more years eating here. It came w/beans & rice but I only had the beans which were creamy & well seasoned. My hubby had the beef enchilada & rice. Hubby said it was a good as our local Mexican restaurant. Our cousins had the steak & chicken fajitas for 2 & received a large plate of fajitas that smelled heavenly & each received their own flour tortillas. There was so much food that they ended up taking about 1/2 of it home. The bill came to ~$85.00 + tip ($20) so bill for all four of us w/o alcoholic drinks of ~$105.00. Prime time Friday night out to dinner to El Rancho Mexican restaurant. First visit since I'm new to the area. It was a welcoming environment, nicely decorated and clean and good attentive wait staff. As far as the food goes, salsa was a bit spicier for me like they may have started out mildly blended yesterday then added it to another batch with added chopped onions and a kick of spice still good to eat , chips were double baked a bit stale but still good to eat , margarita ( just one and I don't drink much so I can tell when it's a good one) tasted and looked good but questioned if any alcohol in it, so the winner of the night per wait staff selection was the Steak Carne Asada burritos which were very tasty! Went out for my husband's birthday and was disappointed. I read lots of reviews before choosing and afterwards thought, "Best ever? They must have very limited experience with Mexican food!" My husband liked his chicken taco salad and the margarita sangrias were good. Cold, greasy chips with average salsa. Cozy Mexican restaurant in Daphne, AL about a mile from the Interstate. We came here on a Sunday for lunch. The weather was nice so we sat on the beautiful patio. The waitstaff were attentive and friendly and brought us complimentary chips and salsa immediately. I had a medium strawberry margarita which was huge. It tasted ok but had almost no tequila. We have been to this local restaurant many times and never had a poor experience until now. Sunday supper at 5 pm with friends should not be a challenge. Waiting for water, complimentary chips or any service was unacceptable. Management and employees were lining the wall but none ever have eye contact or even asked if we needed anything. Found our sever behind the bar making drinks? He had several tables and was "in the weeds" as food servers would say. Still the manager never stepped in. No apology and lousy service service. Ordered a Dos Equis beer and the shrimp dip to get me started. The beer was cold but could've been colder and the shrimp dip was good but could've used a little more Mexican spice to it...cilantro? I ordered the cheese releno, hard beef taco, and the beef enchilada combination plate that came with rice and beans...the rice was good. Love this spot!! We were seated immediately and served just as quickly. The establishment is very nice and very clean. All employees were wearing masks and masks are requested by guests. The food was the best part. They have the best Shrimp Ceviche I've ever had aside from Port City Preps chef Craig Barbarin! The only disappointing factor was the restrooms. As nice as the restaurant and bar area were, the bathroom was unkept, unclean, and did not seem to flow with the rest of the business. I almost forgot, the cheese dip!
