Very nice Mexican restaurant with great service the night we visited. The food was very good. We ordered the fajitas and it was amazing. Many Mexican restaurants pile on the onions, peppers and tomatoes, but not here it was a blended in with more meat than anything. My wife and I shared it and it was more than enough. We went to Bariachi for Father's Day lunch. Our server was attentive and the service was fast. Most of us had no trouble with our food, though we did have a few duplications somehow (I ordered 3 different street tacos and two separate orders of 3 came out. One other person in our party ordered a taco, and we were given three! I don't know if we were charged for all of these duplicates or not, because I didn't get a look at the bill.). But our main complaint of the day had to do with the cleaning fluid. First, when my husband and I arrived, the interior of the restaurant smelled heavily of some kind of citrusy cleaning fluid. It was overpowering and probably would have given me a headache had we chosen to eat inside. The outdoor seating area smelled similarly, but it became less strong as more customers were seated outside, the wind blew some of the smell away I guess, and it also rained. And also, my husband's taco salad tasted like it. I tasted the shell just to be sure it wasn't a phantom smell somehow, but it was the exact flavor of the cleaning fluid inside the restaurant! When we told our waitress, she had absolutely ZERO reaction to this news. Which begs the question: how many times has this happened before?? She simply asked whether he wanted it remade or wanted them to make something else instead. He opted to have it remade. Unfortunately the taco shell of the replacement still tasted like the cleaner, though less strongly, and the rest of his food tasted fine, so he just ignored the shell and ate the salad. read more

We sat at the bar and got there at 7:00 and they had just gotten slammed full of people otherwise we would have sat at a table. The bartender waited on us his name is Ricardo, we found out later that he was also the owner. He was very apologetic because he was in the weeds, restaurant talk for extremely busy, and he couldn't wait on us right away. We had a couple beers and a chimichanga as well as the taco trio, 2 beef 1 chicken. The food was good but bland. I added salt and it was delicious. The employees made the experience awesome and because of that we will be back regardless. The customer service was impeccable aside from the hiccup when we arrived. Very friendly staff! Got seated right away, and the food was great! I'm surprised they only get a 3 star rating on here, so I wanted to review them to give them a boost! Bariachi is in the old Mellow Mushroom in Midtown. We stopped by one night because I had a craving for mexican food. We were seated immediately-one issue was torn seats in the booths. It isn't the end of the world, but it hurts on bare legs and could be an infection control issues if moisture gets in the cushions. They should replace those that are damaged. We were immediately served our beer and wine choices along with hot crisp tortilla chips with homemade salsa. It was so good. My hubby had taco salad with ground beef and enjoyed it very much. I had the Carne Asada. I was a bit skeptical at first, but is arrived on a steaming skillet and was seasoned to perfection. It was actually very tender. It came with plenty of sides. The salad was the best part. It was crisp with fresh limes and cilantro. This is good solid Mexican food. It will quench that craving. read more

So I don't enjoy eating Mexican food out, my mother is a Latina and can throw down in the kitchen. It usually frustrates the misses but I'm reluctant to try Mexican restaurants. Her prayers were answered when we went to Bariachi. The food is flavorful, hot and fresh! We ordered some queso to start, of course. It was creamy, warm and the proper thickness for dipping! The tortilla chips tasted fresh, were warm and didn't have to be doused in salt. She ordered the quesadilla and said it was amazing. I ordered the Bariachi burrito and was very pleased. It was busting with steak, mushrooms, peppers and onions and had amazing flavor. The steak was cooked to perfection and it's huge! To finish we ordered some sopapillas and they were warm, sweet, and the perfect ending to a meal! Lastly, we were stuffed and it was extremely affordable! We used to love this place as it is close to our house. Last time we went we ordered the pick two combo: quesadilla and burrito. Waitress asked what meat would I like. I said whatever it comes with. She said anything you want. I choose chicken. My order came it was just some cheese and chopped chicken. Nothing else. No beans, no lettuce no tomatoes. I ate it. It was completely flavorless. When the bill came there was a charge for the Chicken. $4, a charge for queso cheese (which I didn't order) a $2. charge for lettuce and tomatoes. All of this making a bland $11 meal nearly $20. I asked the server why did they charge for all of these things if they didn't come with it originally or even show up at the table. Her response was "we have raised our prices." The meat is extra? So basically, I ordered two tortillas shells for $11?? I told the server I'm not paying for things that I didn't order nor come to the table. She said "bless your heart and HAVE A NICE DAY." The manger did come and remove the items and I moved on. Just won't eat here anymore. However, my neighbor told me today that she had the same thing happen. She checked her bill and had over $10 in extra charges; and just for lettuce and tomatoes. Check your bill with this place! We will drive farther, next time. read more

I called to let them know and they said they no longer provide them with to go orders and now charge you for them. Now our group has no salsa to go on our food. I really do like this place, especially their street tacos and sopes. I have not ventured out beyond that (chilaquiles are next) as in looking at most other dishes coming out, the portions are really big and it's too much food for me. Two people can easily split a lot of dishes. Their house salsa isn't spicey but one must make for the masses but still good in flavor, chips really good too. I did like that this past Saturday I went they had a big poster of their specials (drinks too). I will say I have had their house margarita and was like a melted lime lollipop. Might be spending some time on their patio too when the weather is ready for that. Only not 5 stars becase of the margarita. I will try some of their other drinks to be super fair, as the Pina Colada looks tasty, you know, for science. read more

I wish I did. :( If you look at my profile, you will see that I do a bunch of reviews and I give kudos to those who met my expectations or beyond, and a "not-so-much" to those who don't come close. This restaurant barely came anywhere close to a "kudos" rating. I'll cut to the chase: *Food-mediocre (I've had MUCH better) *Atmosphere- went on Cinco de Mayo and was expecting Mariachi or at least Hispanic music (even if not live band). Well, they had some DJ playing pretty close to rap top 40 style music with HEAVY, HEAVY base, so it was nearly impossible to hear anything and we were inside far away from where it was set up outside. Already, not pleased and at that time it should have been our "cue" to leave. Oh and had the regular Hispanic restaurant music playing indoors...UGH headache was about to begin right there. *Frank-he was our so-called server that: never introduced himself, welcomed us, or even acted as though he cared. He was rushing us and seemed preoccupied with something else. HERE IS THE CLINCHER: When we first sat down, we asked what sizes the margaritas came in. We were going to order a large one to share like we always do. He then stated they were only serving them in plastic cups (like a solo) to cut down on dirty glassware and was charging $7.00 for that!!! We declined at that point and had tea. Not too soon after our teas and food were brought to us, another table was being seated and low-and-behold over walks a person with what looked to be a "TOWER" like a large tube with a spikit for pouring the margarita out into the glass. When the bill came, I asked Frank why he didn't sell us one of those because we definitely wanted a large drink and in his words " didn't know y'all were drinking???? Oh really ??? That's funny because I distinctly recall having a lengthy conversation about drinks, glassware, and the like. As others reported, the food was rather bland, I make better salsa and Pico de Gallo at home, from scratch and am not even Hispanic. We will not entertain this place ever again, but rather find somewhere better. read more

I've been back twice since my first review. Service is still faultless. Margaritas still taste a little funky, and the salsa for chips still tastes like Pace. Guacamole is a little bland. The sope was brick hard around the edges, but the toppings were tasty and generous. The quesadillas taste great, but twice they were in a pool of moisture and grease. Not something that everywhere else I've had them works as a hand-held. I hate to give such a low rating when things taste OK and the servers are doing their job well. Went here last Friday night with friends, food was okay, we ordered a pitcher of margaritas that was average at best, but that is not the reason for a one star review, the short story is my bill was $47, and with a tip was around $55 and I was good with that, until I checked my bank account and I was charged a little over $102 for my order....all I know is at this point in time is that someone better have some really good answers as to why I was charged $55 for a tip on a $47 order....and second, this is far from the last time this establishment is going to hear about this, If you want to succeed in business, first rule should be to not steal from your customers... read more

As is muy typical in our area, the place was understaffed and we were waiting long periods of time for margaritas, etc. I had the beans and cheese enchilada. Never had something so bland in my life at a Mexican restaurant and that's saying something. Super basic with nothing else but a bad cheese topping, beans and tortilla. No flavor at all. It was like I was eating a tasteless kids menu item. They messed my husband's order up as well with a wrong sauce topping. He said it was so so. Margaritas were so so but they were light tasting. I just moved to the area and was looking for somewhere that made birria tacos like from the area I am from. After spending about an hour looking at reviews I chose Bariachi. When I arrived I placed my order for 3 chicken birria tacos (I know that the initial birria is made with brisket BUT I have done the chicken, shrimp, etc as birria) along with a side of rice and refried beans. At no point did the waitress tell me they don't do this here. When my food came, I had 3 chicken tacos with cilantro and onions. Confused I called another waitress or manager (I don't know who she was) who informed me that birria only comes with brisket. It was already 9pm and I ate them reluctantly. The "birria consommé) was horrible snd tasteless and I had to dump some salt to get it to have some flavor. I never got rice and beans (my food was brought to me by the floor manager or whatever she was, not my waitress. When my waitress asked me how was the food, I told her disappointed and no flavor and DEFINITELY not birria. She said she would send it back and I declined (you only have 1 chance to get it right with me when it comes to my food). Imagine how pissed I was when I got my ticket and it states "3 pollo asado add cheese 1.50 and consume(I am remiss to say this is the consommé) -1.50" nothing on my ticket indicates birria. I paid $12 for 3 chicken tacos with no flavor. And I definitely did not have 4 guests at my table only myself. Honestly, I feel the young lady gave me someone else's food and didn't want to own up to it. I ordered some nachos to go and those were fine according to my husband. I guess I'll have to wait until I go back to my home state to get me some birria tacos. I definitely would not recommend or go back. read more
