Favorite Mexican food in Omaha! Reasonably priced, nice workers, and delicious food! My go to order is the tongue burrito with beans and rice inside. I usually get this as a take out order and it is always ready within 10 minutes of calling and placing the order! The burrito is quite large and always fills me up at the end of my meal. Tried it for the first time today. I wasn't that impressed. The chips come with 5 salsas but none of them were that great. The chips are thick and hard which I didn't care for. The al pastor taco and green enchiladas were average. My girlfriend did enjoy the quesadilla. In my opinion there are several better mexican restauraunts in town. read more

We've been to this place a few times in the weekend for pasole and menudo. We've had great experiences. The food is good and fresh.

This is one of those places I hate to review, because I want it to remain a hidden South Omaha gem. Whether you dine alone or with others, you get treated to chips and multiple fresh salsas & pickled vegetables. My standard order generally consists of tacos al pastor and a ceviche tostada. The Cubano torta is also a fun experience if you're a fan of hotdogs like I am. Treat yourself to a Mexican coke, and their hot coffee is phenomenal. Trust me on that one. Finally a good spot to get some good posole. I love authentic Mexican food . My bowl was $8 and it was huge for a size small . My SO got the breakfast chilaquiles in red sauce . They had good flavor (slightly spicy) and portion was generous as well. We enjoyed the service ( food came out fast)and our waiter was very attentive. Being a Salvadorian from Massachusetts ( we have amazing local real Hispanic food restaurants there) I loves this place! The ceviche was great I didn't even need to add lime or salt! That's saying something! We asked for nachos and since my wife is vegan they gladly put the meat on he side! When several of the folks I trust on here rate a place as highly as they rated El Rancho I tend to pay attention. Anne and I arrived before noon and we were the only English speaking people in the place. We were greeted promptly, found our own seat in a booth and served warm chips and FIVE different choices of salsa within minutes. The salsa choices ranged from mild to burning down the house and every one of the five had flavor, not just heat, not just mild, FLAVOR! The entrees we chose (enchiladas and flautas) were excellent. Probably the second best Mexican food I've had in Omaha since moving here two years ago...behind Rivera's. However, Rivera's is (incredibly) loud, somewhat expensive and on the other side of town, so El Rancho will probably be the de facto choice for me and my wife for awhile. We joined two other couples at 7:30 on a Wednesday night. The place seemed kinda divey, but it was fairly clean and quiet and our waiter was very pleasant. Other reviewers have mentioned the bevy of complimentary salsas, and being a sauce lover I was immediately impressed. All colors and textures were represented. We didn't ask our waiter what was what, but two sauces in particular were extremely hot, so if you're sensitive to that, ask. I ordered a Pork Chile Verde, which in all honesty was a tad on the bland side. However, the meat was very tender, so I just loaded my tortilla with a different sauce every time and I was on the coche to Flavortown. The corn tortillas are hands down the best I've ever had, they're large, and you get four per order. My wife got the Chicken Flautas and unfortunately they looked and tasted like the bagged frozen variety from the grocery store. Others in our party got the beef fajitas which apparently were excellent, and a brave soul even got the goat, which he quite liked. We will definitely be back to get some tacos! read more

We were there on a Wednesday night and what do you know, it's $1.35 taco night and we aren't talking hamburger with a little seasoning. We had one of the best steak tacos we have ever had. The pork tacos were also amazing. Lots of meat in them and full of flavor. We ordered a sopes and it was excellent as well. We will be back and we may even drive all the way in on a Wednesday for $1.35 tacos from Fremont and still consider it a steal of a deal. read more

Torn between this place and La Casita. On the upside, they have larger tortillas, however the tortilla to meat ratio is a bit uneven. They do come out with your food much quicker though. At 10 cents higher than their local competitor La Casita, you'll find a better deal and a better meal there. My wife did enjoy their margaritas, so I guess there is still a chance we'll come back. read more

A little concerned when we pulled up and it had bars on the Windows. Once inside, the place was packed! We called because we had a group of 6 adults and 5 kids. They had a table ready, a little slow to bring drinks, but it was packed inside. Food came quick, margaritas were excellent, fajitas (veggies) were perfectly cooked, kids quesadilla was fine, cantaloupe juice was yummy, husband had tongue, trip, and chorizo taco's which he said were simple but great - homemade tortillas (get the corn). We are serious Mexican food fans, and have our existing favorites, so the bar was set high. A previous review noted the all Spanish menus. They have both, so if you need it, ask for the gringo version. As best I could tell, everyone working there speaks perfect English so don't let that intimidate you. We had a random combination of sope, tostada, and tacos. Btw; they do serve beers and certain other adult drinks which we weren't sure about. The food was tasty, served quickly and hot and is very reasonable. Like others we really enjoyed the selection of salsas and chips to go with our meal. Excellent food! It doesn't look like much on the outside (we almost drove away), but once we were inside and seated, we were so glad we stayed. I have to agree with Lauren M. The service was not great and the food was mediocre at best. I had the beef fajitas which probably would have been OK if the food was warm the owners claim to be from Texas but this is not Texas quality food, I should know, I live in San Antonio. The service was slow and there were only four other tables being occupied at the time. My bill with a tip came to $22.72. they provided a receipt for this amount but when I got my credit card statement, They charged my card $52.03. When I called to have this corrected, The owner said she would look into it but never called me back. I made another call to them. a young man took down my information and put me on hold. Upon returning, he said the owner claims she charged to correct amount. I explained that my credit card statement says otherwise. He said there was nothing he could do so I advised him I would have to file a claim with the credit card Fraud department to which he said he would try again and call me back. you probably guessed it. No call back. I filed the fraud claim... My name is Trujillo. I have lived and worked all over the southwest. I know good Mexican food.
