Haven't been to this location but really enjoyed the times we've been to the one in Brownsville. We ordered 2 tortas, flautas and baked potato. We ordered without onion and cilantro and unfortunately they were made with everything on them. Had to go back and ask to be redone and when we got home we realized that one came without beans and the other had beans but my daughter doesn't like charro beans??? (Too spicy and has onion) Every place I've been to for tortas has just regular beans so not sure about that one. Anyways, we ended up getting a refund for them. Then the baked potato was way too over cooked. The spud was very tough and dry when it's supposed to be soft and fluffy. Then the flautas had no flavor and honestly tasted like they were prepped and fried before hand and then double fried to heat up. Not to mention there was nobody when we arrived to pick up the order so definitely not busy, just lack of quality. When all was said and done we didn't get the feeling that they would find a solution to their mistakes for the future and needless to say, we will not be returning. read more

The Only dish I have ordered here are the chicken flauta plate and I recommend you to try it. Comes with enough flautas, lettuce, fresh cheese and cueritos (pickle pork skin). Really delicious! read more

Great Mexican food! Highly recommend it. I ordered the taco plate which came with 6 tacos and were delicious. The tortilla was the small taco tortilla but they stuff them up and 6 filled me up just good. You can order some charro beans on the side for a separate price and I recommend the special beans because they top of your bean soup with fresh avocado, queso fresco, and some chopped beef called bisteq. My daughter ordered chicken tostadas and they were fully loaded with chicken, lettuce, queso fresco and avocado. The order came with three tostadas. My husband ordered a torta de bisteq and he said it was good. The torta was filling and packed with beef, lettuce, queso fresco and beans. He opted out the cilantro and grilled onions. I will NEVER buy another order of tacos at this place!! I Ordered 4 orders of tacos "to go" (out of town), and even after I repeated the order to make sure they would get it right!...they got it WRONG!! When I arrived to my destination, there were 4 packages, that only totaled to two orders. I called the restaurant to let them know they had only given me 2 orders...and they ARGUED with me that I was lying! I asked for the owner/manager to please call me back...haven't gotten a phone call back!! It appears that this establishment DOESN'T care about CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! I or my family will NEVER set foot at El Rey Del Taco again!! There are other restaurants with BETTER tacos and Customer Service in Los Fresnos!! read more

Due to Covid we had a to go order. Food was so dry. The beans tasted old and had a bad flavor to them. Couldn't finish the food such a waste. Bottom line this place left a bad taste in my mouth...literally! read more

Best tacos in Los Fresnos. Always our first stop when we cone in from Oklahoma. The staff is kind and always greets us with a smile.

Tacos are pretty good, but the quality of the meat (I get fajita) has gone down a lot. I used to love these tacos and now they're just "alright". The price has gone up too! I don't know that it's really worth it anymore like it was before. However, in the small town of Los Fresnos, they have some of the best tacos. Just doesn't compare at all to what you can get other places, for the quality or price. read more
