We had the lumpia and poncit late about 7pm. The gentleman waited for us to come from Weslaco. It was very good but not great. He said it is better at noon time and I think it would be. We definitely will try again at lunch! read more

Yum yum give us ALL some!! Absolutely delish! This is a mom n pop location, love it. Authentic Philippines cuisine, I miss it. There's also an Asian mini mart in same area on one side, from moon cakes to those shrimp chips, drooling over here. Like mom use to make!! Service was swift n attentive, only thing you might want to keep in mind, food is pretty fresh n made in small portions and since we went a bit later, once made n close to closing time, what's made is made n that's all. So get there earlier than we did. The pancit n bagogee were spot on!! Lovd the dessert drink with the noodle strings in them, went back for another!! Don't forget the sweet sticky rice wrapped in bamboo, had to go back n get another!!! Tired of the same 39 Mexican restaurants, open your mind n try something different n delicious!! Lots of room to improve on.. If this was in Vegas, it won't fly. If you're going for quite of a bit of a drive like say from McAllen/Pharr/Edinburg, don't waste the trip.. it's the typical Filipino set-up, a bit more effort and loving care can make this restaurant great or better than it is now. read more

Pacific Island Kitchen rocks my socks. It's part cafeteria serving Filipino food, part market selling Filipino groceries, and all delicious. There's no menu to order from. Instead, you walk up to a counter that looks like something you'd find at Chipotle or Luby's. You go down the line pointing at what you want and then you pay. There's a small seating area--perhaps about four or five tables max. It's usually not busy at any particular time, so finding a spot to eat is rather easy. I've primarily only had the pork adobo, chicken adobo, and pancit noodles as I'm not brave enough for the fish yet (nor would I know how to eat the fish in the way it's prepared--I'll get there some day!). What I've had to-date is tasty--and I end up leaving my plate completely empty. The market is also awesome. Before or after you eat, you can browse a laundry list of Filipino groceries. Prawn chips? Check. Banana sauce? Double check. Skyflakes? Yup. And all other sorts of interesting food you won't find at the major grocery stores in the area. In all, this is one of my favorite places to dine at whenever I'm in town. Will definitely continue to go here. read more

It seems like pacific island kitchen recently opened! I went to check it out for dinner around 6pm. They seem to have almost run out of food, so I would suggest going a bit earlier (lunch would probably be best for the freshest food). They change their menu daily, but they specialize in Filipino food! Which is usually made up of a variety of savory pork dishes with rice or noodles. PIK also doubles as an Asian market! They have a huge selection of Asian snacks to pick from and even a section dedicated to different cooking sauces and some frozen foods. There's also baked and ice desserts that you can purchase! Overall, I had a good experience here. I'm excited to see that there's more authentic Asian food options in Harlingen that are affordable and delicious! read more

Pacific Island Kitchen features the best selection of Asian products and freshly prepared foods. A long awaited Filipino restaurant will have your taste buds moshing. All the food is prepared daily and with the freshest produce and seafood from local producers. If you haven't taken the time to dine there you are definitely missing out. PS. Best Filipino spot in the Valley. The food is four stars: authentic, delicious, and decent variety. This is an Asian grocery store that serves lunch (bodega-style), so table service is non-existent. The one bathroom is clean. Usually, they have four or five main dishes to choose from, plus rice or pancit (noodles). I usually get a plate with two main items and both rice and pancit, $7. They have the Filipino egg rolls, and a variety of pacific/southeast Asian drinks in cans and bottles (again, it's kind of a bodega). I would give it more stars because the food is so good, it we're talking about styrofoam plates and plastic utensils. This place is WAY better than Las Vegas Cafe or any fast food spot, if that helps. I'm consistently shocked that people use Yelp to give four and five stars to really underwhelming restaurants just because the food is cheap. read more

The owners were so nice and friendly! I was so excited to find a filippino restaurant/ store near me while visiting Brownsville. The food was so good I ate there two days in a row! The adobo (chicken/ pork), pancit and lumpia was on point and so was the fried banana. I'm definitely hoping to grab another plate before I leave. Very authentic and the portions are good. Part Filipino minimart and part mini Filipino cafeteria is this business. This review deals with only the cafeteria side of the business. For $8, one can get a combo plate of one starch and two meats/veggies sides. For starch, the choices are white rice or pancit. The meat/veggie choices varies daily. On our visit, we went with the pancit/bitter melon with chicken/pork adobo combo. The pancit was very good, better than some of the Filipino eateries in Houston. The other two choices were average. The owner and his sole employee were very friendly. We gave four stars for the friendly folks, acceptable price, and decent Filipino foods. Anyway, this is the only game in town. I really like this store. There's not a lot of places like this in the valley. Good food too

I believe the place recently opened so I tried their food as I am in the area. I ordered several orders to cover quite a bit their available food that day. The vegetable was great. the sour soup(fish) was good as well, however, their pancit that day was extremely salty. I like salty food but I couldn't eat it at all. I tried it again a few days later and I was please with all my orders. read more
