    Caldo de Res

Not our first time eating at El Rey. We had lunch on Friday, February 14, 2024 at approximately 1300 hrs. Restaurant was not super busy. Empty tables were clean and ready for the next customer. Floors were swept, no food on the floors. Women's restroom was clean and fully stocked. When seated, the waitress serves a small bowl of salsa and warm tortilla chips. It was a rainy, windy and cold day so I ordered caldo de res to warm me up. I immediately noticed the caldo was lacking cabbage and green beans, which are standard ingredients in traditional caldo. Nonetheless, the caldo served at El Rey was served piping hot and it had good flavor. I added a squeeze of fresh lemon juice and a big drizzle of the chile oil and it was perfect for my liking. The meat was beef shank, which needed a bit more cooking time but nothing that would change my rating. The bowl was a generous portion and served with a cup of Mexican rice and choice of corn (homemade) or flour tortillas. I chose the homemade corn tortillas. I would order the caldo again. My dad ordered the Milanesa de Res. Best description, kinda like chicken fried steak, sans gravy. Meat was tender and breading crispy. Everything was cooked to perfection. Customer service was on point and final bill was accurate. I highly recommend El Rey for a nice meal out or an alcoholic beverage. They have a really nice bar in the back and a nice clean outdoor patio.

    14% credit card fee

Food was ok. Drinks were ok. But the receipt at end of day included a 14% credit card fee. This is not ok on top of the gratuity.

My friend and I made plans to have dinner and she suggested this cute place in Delano. It was very clean and had a modern feel to it. The waitresses we very friendly and attentive. The food came out fresh and everything was delicious. The only reason I gave it a 4 was because I ordered a Piña agua Fresca and our waitress forgot. Maybe it was better I drank water anyway. Would come back!

    El Rey Fajita plate

First visit was a phone order for pickup to go. They took our CC info over the phone and gave us a 15-20min pickup time. We ordered the garlic shrimp plate, an El Rey taco and the El Rey fajitas. All were got and delicious. The homemade refried beans and corn tortillas were amazing. My favorite item was the El Rey taco. It's not cheap but was LOADED with shrimp and asada, and the chipotle sauce it came with put it over the top.

Authentic Mexican restaurant, very friendly staff that gave us great recommendation on what to eat. Right from the Salsa to Moleajetes ( Combination), just outstanding food. Highly recommended.

Excellent food. Okay service. Cheap Napkins, cheap toilet paper. Nice building! Big bar in back.

Excellent service and delicious food! For the appetizer we ordered the chicken wings. They were freshly made and seasoned well. We ordered the chicken, asada, and shrimp molcajete for our meal. Very generous portions and really delicious too. Beans, rice and a salad are served on the side. The owner has invested considerably in this restaurant and it definitely shows. The restaurant also features a full service bar and a large patio for outdoor dining. Great addition to the local dining options! We will definitely be back.

We are fairly new to Delano. We are still finding good places to eat and hang out. Delano is slim pickings in that regards. But we found El Rey today. Food was awesome. I ordered Molcajete de Camarones, my husband ordered Piña de Camarones and my son ordered Quesobirria tacos. He said they were bomb. Lol All dinner dishes were amazing. Ambience is nice. They had music playing in back of the restaurant- bar area. Cleanliness- it was clean and the waitresses stay on top of taking your dishes and cleaning up as soon as dinning parties leave. Service - our waitress was nice a bit disorganized and slightly forgetful. They forgot to bring us our appetizer and they forgot to bring out my sons dinner and my side dish of rice and beans and tortillas. That's all! Once we informed her she credited us for the appetizer and brought everything out that was pending. Arrival of food- when we placed our order I asked how long it would take and she advised about 30-35min. I felt it was too long. But what can we do. Our food arrived in 21 min. So happy we were starving. Glad. All worked and we will be adding El Rey to our Monthly rotations.

Food is really good. I've been there three times but the customer service is terrible. They need to be trained in customer service.

The meet in this restaurant tastes artificial and uncooked. The waitress were nice but the food was disgusting. Don't recommend it.

It became comical. Coca de botella? None. Tried ordering a mixed drink and they didn't have the watermelon syrup needed for the drink. We had to settle for water. Ordered a guacamole and flautas as appetizers. Both were lacking so much! We fixed it with lemon & salt. But they weren't amazing. Chicken in the flautas was bland. Moving on to our entrees: Chiles Rellenos OUT OF THAT. Posole? "THATS A SEASONAL ITEM", I finally asked "what do you have?!" Finally settled on chile verde and camarones... The chile verde was not like it has been in the past. Missing the deep rich color and flavor and the pork was almost, shredded? We don't come often but where is the consistency? I wish their business well, I just hope this was a bad night.

The rooms themselves were great, my issue was with the bar. I'm supposed to be here for a few weeks for work but I will be going to the Marriott from here on while I'm in the area. My wife joined me this week for the travel, we decided to check the bar and restaurant out since we were both wanting to try it out. Our first order was their chocolate old fashion (regular od fashion with only chocolate bitters) and know creek. Bartender informed me they didn't have know creek and I made it 2 of the chocolate old fashions. When we got the drinks, it was basically makers mark with a splash of chocolate bitters over ice. I'm a bourbon fan and she made both those "old fashion drinks" in under a minute and they tasted like whiskey on the rocks. Wife hated it and I took her drink. I then ordered for her Titos and cranberry. Bartender said they were out of titos and she settled for Grey goose and cranberry. It was measured properly and very red, so can't complain but come on, you're going to charge us for Grey goose since you're out of titos but can't give it an extra splash? We looked at the menu and ordered the chicken Ceasars with NO chicken (there's a reason I'm making it clear that I said "no chicken") for the wife since shes vegetarian and I ordered their sampler platter. Bartender informed me that their fryer was broken and said I can order burgers and sandwiches, so I settled for chicken and bacon sandwich. A few minutes go by and the Bartender then said that they were out of lettuce and only had arugula salad. My wife then asked for the tomato soup since shes vegetarian and we were then told that the soup is no longer available and that it hasn't been removed from menus. So my wife settles for the arugula salad without chicken and a side cheese pizza. After bringing our food out, it was served in to go plates. I had chips for my side since the fries couldn't be made do to the fryer not working and my wife git her pizza and her chicken Ceasar arugula only salad....with chicken in it. So luckily she could pick the chicken out and we tried topnotch let it ruin our night. While eating, the Bartender was talking with a coworker who was off work and they were talking about how they hate customers who do this and who do that, very unprofessional since we weren't the only ones at the bar that night. During this time I asked for 2 waters and she brought out the 2 waters but didn't take my first empty old fashion glass or my wife's empty cranberry and vodka glass. She didn't even ask if we wanted another one. So we get the bill, $77.94 for the microwaved food, wrong order, bad drinks, etc. Terrible and has now made me cancel my booking for the remaining 2 weeks I'm here.
