We have been here several times and it is one of the better restaurant options available here in Brewton, AL. We drove up from Pensacola to go hunting with H.S.'s family for the weekend. The food here at El Ray turned out to be better than the hunting this weekend. It's called "hunting for a reason" as the old worn out saying goes... We joined H.S.'s brother's family who were already seated and eating their chips, salsa and queso. We got another order of queso and dove in. The service was great, even on this Friday night, but it also wasn't too busy. It was storming and that may have kept the crowd down a bit. The salsa, chips and queso were delicious. The queso being the classic queso blanco and the salsa also was the classic red salsa. Both are very typical for us here in the deep South. I ordered the Burrito Supreme with beef and H.S. ordered the California Burrito with shrimp. She routinely out orders me and she did so again. Mine was really good. Hers was great! I wasn't thinking when I ordered the beef. I was thinking it would be steak (I know better) and it was ground taco meat. I was just trying to hurry. Hers with the shrimp and all the light fillings was more what I was looking for. It is probably hard to imagine for a lot of you that a burrito can be light but it can be done. Tacos El Fluffy in Pensacola sure does! Down the table from me my brother and sister in-law shared the Molcajete which looks like a hot mess but they love it. It is basically a giant bowl full of steak and chicken strips, shrimp, chorizo, frijoles charros, onions, cactus, and Mexican cheese. It is then served with tortillas. Think fajitas on steroids. El Ray is a good option in Brewton for a good meal. It is a bit of a surprise that such a good mexican restaurant exists here but there it sits. There have been some significant changes to the menu as they learned the tastes of small town America. Not surprising is the absence of menudo soup (tastes and smells like a barnyard that needs to be shoveled) and ceviche from the menu now. I am not saddened by the loss of the menudo. -B-

Chicken Quesadillas lunch special. Good portion, tasty and good value.

Excellent service, great food, accurate order and cold beer. First visit and we will be back. Everything was clean and comfortable atmosphere.

    Good fajitas, great size portions

This place was very clean. Waitress very attentive! Food was good. We live out of town so we can't visit often. But I would recommend it!

Great guacamole and fajitas. Service was a bit slow but restaurant was pretty busy for late lunch. Would definitely eat here again.

Let me start by saying that I will be back here. There's nothing like this anywhere close by. That…read moresaid, it's a little pricey for Pace and for the quality of the tapas. We had the tenderloin tips with chimichurry and while the flavor was good, it was not cooked right. It was a little watery. Also had the bbq shrimp wrapped in bacon. That was excellent. But 6 shrimp for $18 is a bit much. The pesto feta dip was mostly feta dip, not much pesto. The Brussel sprouts were very good. Our server Sam is very engaged and made the visit very positive. You need to give her a raise. Drinks were also very good and trendy. I will say the chocolate Blackberry Bread pudding is the best dessert I've had in a long time even if it needed more chocolate. Like I said, we will be back and we will enjoy it but I hope they kick up the quality of the food a bit to make up for the prices. All said, good job Pace!

Unfortunately, each visit seems to reinforce the same issues rather than show improvement. The biggest concern is the overall culture and customer experience. Interactions with staff have often felt unprofessional, dismissive, and at times outright toxic. A welcoming atmosphere starts with the people representing the business, and that has consistently been lacking. The food and service are equally inconsistent. One visit might be acceptable, while the next brings long wait times. Went for a girls night and waited 35 minutes to be waited on and a drink order. Was not busy and attempted to order food at the same time which was told they did not have. Mind you this was at 6:00. Although there are not many options in Pace do not waste your time or money.
