This place is small...but that's not the downfall. The large window was extremely filthy. The bathroom was filthy with NO toilet paper. Food was ok. I've had better Chinese food in WV, yeah seriously. I had the Singapore maifun, not much flavor. The egg drop soup had a weird smokey flavor. the best Chinese in Santa Rosa County! the Peanut chicken is remarkable. I've used them for take out for years! I wish they were open on Saturday but they are there the other 6 days a week. Service is always amazing at Jay Garden. First off, anytime you order a dish it's piping hot and spectacular. I've had a few experiences with weird chicken, but you know some days are better than others. Mostly, Jay Garden is led with wonderful customer service and good food. My favorite orders there are Egg drop soup and honey chicken, occasionally branching out to try other flavors like orange chicken. I genuinely have no bad opinions on Jay Garden. The man who's been cooking there the past nearly 20 years has been there working my entire life. He's never disappointed me. If you're looking for a good bite to eat, Nee Jay Garden is definitely the place you're looking for. It's such a wonderful business. A short history lesson, from personal anecdotal experience: Jay, Florida is a racist enclave, borne from deep south mores and facilitated by isolation and ignorance. You might not like me saying that in public, but to deny it is to deny reality. The reality is that Jay Garden not only persists, but thrives, in Jay. My meal last night was my second from this purveyor of Americanized Chinese fare. I liked it. I'll stop short of saying that I loved it, for sheer pettiness. I plainly stated that I wanted "spicy", yet I got some pansy dish that had a few crushed red chile flakes that a newborn could nosh without danger. Seriously, even though American palates may be fragile, inquire further if somebody asks for spicy. Indian joints do...you can, too. Quite a lot of beef in the beef and broccoli. I was a bit surprised. The large (quart? Dunno, because it was presented in a flat plastic container) had very tender, yet copious quantities of beef slices. My fine lady got some chicken dish, which had lotus root slices in it. Turns out that lotus root is an unusual ingredient in Americanized Chinese and is very expensive in actual Chinese fare, due to the way that it is harvested. It's likely canned and she didn't like it much, but I did. But I was already sated, because I'm getting slain cow, when I have the option. Four-legged mammals trump two legs every time, any time. Because shut up. If you ever--no matter how unlikely--find yourself in the wilds of north Santa Rosa county, haul yourself here and get food. Because you will not go wrong. These hard-working people are making food 12 hours a day and probably prepping food another 2-4 hours a day. I suspect that the children will be tycoons by the time that they are 30. I truly admire the grit and determination of folks like this. Jay should celebrate that they have immigrants that work longer and harder than any of the locals would ever work to provide grub to them. So. Four stars for the food. Six stars for being open when the entirety of the sleepy burg is passing out. Five stars total. Go get some. read more

The prices at this place are fair. I tried it twice with high hopes and both times it was not that great. Maybe folks think it's good because there are hardly any places to eat in Jay, but it really isn't. I just tried it for the second time the other day and there was a very young girl stirring the buffet food that had just wiped her nose with her hand. Glad I didn't get the buffet food but it made me question mine. The place does not seem very clean. I would rather go buy a snack at the Dollar General around the corner. Will not be back...... read more

This place is a tiny dive, but the food is AMAZING! Best Chinese place I've ever had, the couple who own it are great! When I lived close by, I ate there between four and five times a week usually. The lunch buffet is small, but they do that to keep it fresh, which makes it amazing! Give it a try, you won't be disappointed. read more

The problem with some Chinese places is that you wonder if the food is cooked enough to be clean, but this place doesn't have that problem at all. You get plenty of food for fair pricing. It's pretty typical for a small Chinese take out place. Haven't been disappointed yet. read more

This place is AMAZING!!! I live in a neighboring town about 20 miles away, and make it a point to drive to Jay if I want Chinese. I have never tried anything from here that I didn't like. Their General Tso and sweet and sour are my faves! read more
