On 11/5/2015 I called el Rey to come and clean my septic tank. The company quoted me 375.00 for the job . I advised the employee that el Rey has been to my house before so he knows where the clean out is. Mr el Rey showed up and did the job when I handed him the check he said he needs 469.00 for the job. I told him that he already quoted me 375.00 on the phone and now you need more. El Rey said more pumping needed to be done he said that he did not know the size of the tank I told him you been here before he did not reply. Buyer beware if you hire this company to pump your septic the quote he gives you is not the accurate quote that he'll charge you on the job. read more

Please, please, please save yourself and don't use this company!!! Also please READ ALL OF THIS even though I know it's a lot!! I did do cliff notes at the end if you don't feel like reading today. If I could give them negative stars I would. My choosing to use this company was one of the biggest mistakes I've ever made!! I was selling my house and had to get my septic tank pumped and inspected. They came out and said it failed inspection because of roots. Well that's unfortunate but alright. They said there is someone they refer everyone to for this job because he's the best and if he completes the job they take him on his word and will complete the inspection report for escrow. They said he is the only person they use. This being my first time selling I thought okay that's great that they had someone I could use and called the person, if I remember correctly his name is Pete. I'm not 100 percent sure on that, but that's what I'll refer to him as from now on. Pete came over and this is how our conversation went. He asked (again) who referred me. I told him and he asked what they said, I responded that they said there were roots. Without looking at anything he started talking about how I needed a new $3,000 leach field. I had to ask him to lift the lid to the septic tank to at least have a look. At that point he had to call for help, his help showed up which included a man, woman, and small child. The two men struggled and finally got the lid of the septic tank open and all the while they all let the small child get close enough to the opening that he could have easily fallen in. As the homeowner this had me very stressed out! I asked if they would call 811 or if I should. Pete looked around and asked where my gas meter was and referenced that all the other utilities were far enough away that they "should be fine" and that calling 811 would just delay things. His helper also looked at me later shaking his head whispering "don't call." that is illegal!!!! I got his number and said I'd be in touch. I talked to the person loaning me the money for this and even though both of us were nervous we decided to go ahead on the conditions that we had a contract and he would take a credit card. I called 811 myself because I wanted everything to be aboveboard. I called Pete back and told him my conditions. He said in that case he would have to charge an extra 15 percent. I was confused and asked him why. He said it was because to use a credit card he would have to run it thru his company which would create an extra charge. I told him I wanted everything to be legal! His response was that he thought I just wanted things to be done quickly so that's why he was going to charge the $3,000 flat. We went back and forth for a while, me saying I wanted everything to be done legally and him saying that would cost extra. Needless to say I decided NOT to go with Pete! After doing my own research I found Rowdy Rooter (who is amazing!). They came out very quickly and it turned out that the person who came was the owner/father of the company. After he inspected the tank he said that the septic company (El Rey) didn't even fully empty the tank. On top of that thru someone I know I found out that Pete wasn't even licensed to work on septic tanks!! I ended up using Rowdy Rooter. I'm so happy I found them, THEY ARE AMAZING!!!! Even though I still needed extensive root repair done on my septic tank Rowdy Rooter did an incredible job!!!! When it came to paying my bill I was okay with paying El Rey. For the fact that they did pump my septic tank even though they didn't get all of it. Due to them recommending (insisting on) someone who wanted to do everything illegally I didn't really want to pay them for the incomplete inspection. I was still undecided on that when I saw that somehow they got my escrow account to pay for it even though it wasn't something I had ever agreed upon paying! How is that even possible?!!!! Okay so cliff notes here. 1. El Rey insisted that I use someone that wanted to do everything illegally. 2. They didn't empty my septic tank entirely. 3. With no permission from me at all they took money from my escrow account. I can't say how but just so everyone knows it was the Yavapai Title Company. read more

Called to say I needed pumping service as fast as possible. After checking, called back and, while busy, quoted a time the same day. Called later to say he was delayed and specified a new time. Quoted prices based on size of tank, reasonable extra to find and clear access to tank. 100% accurate. Same prices as 4-5 years ago. Arrived on time, fast and thorough. Checked to make sure everything was working with no clogs and multiple times said to call if any problem. Wish all companies were so customer focused. read more
