    Seafood Soup

Didn't see any reviews for their seafood soup which is a SHAME !! Cause this soup was so good it had my toes curling. As a Honduran, I added coconut cream which reminded me of Machuca. There's clams, shrimp, crabs, oysters, and calamari in here !! Best seafood soup in Soflo !!! Will recommend and come again

A very pleasant dining experience today at my first visit to El Rinconcito which serves Salvadorian and Hondurian cuisine. Service was great and the entire staff was friendly and professional. Our server named Lia was very courteous and helpful with choosing meals from their menu. The dining area is large, clean and comfortable. Food was delicious and had a amazing homemade taste. I'll definitely be back for some more great authentic cuisine when I return to the area!

I have had the pupusas here twice, and they are AMAZING let me tell you. I am Salvadoran and these are the best pupusas I have found in all of Broward County. The tamal de elote is also pretty awesome, great taste and texture, not too dry like other places. One star off because the curtido that comes with the pupusas is way too salty and a little too spicy as well. Overall very happy and will definitely order more pupusas from here in the future!!!

I was looking for something that tasted more like home out here in Fort Lauderdale. Came across this Salvadorian restaurant And decided to check it out. The venue is big. Very spacious with lots of tables and also booths if you wanted to have more of an experience. The service wasn't the best service I've had but it was just about right. . The only came to ask for our orders and to bring us the food once it was ready. Never came back to check back in on us . (I had finished my horchata which was very tasty btw!) The food felt very authentic. Just like I imagined it felt like I was back home in LA. The pupusas were a decent size. They were not greasy and stuffed with what over ingredient you wanted on the inside. The plantains with beans were also delicious . The plantains were soft on the inside and crunchy on the inside for just that right bite. The side order of beans that came with it were also good! I recommend this place if you're in the area .

    Sangria

They must still be in business because of their location. Stopped by for lunch in between Saturday errands. The staff was pleasant and everyone had a welcome greeting. I went during that slow time after lunch but before dinner. I ordered a glass of sangria, two croquettas and the roast pork meal. The sangria was a generous portion, but seriously lacked in flavor. Next came the roast pork. When I asked about the croquettas, she said they were coming right up. Why would the appetizer come after the meal? That should have been my warning. Especially since roast pork with rice and beans is always pre-cooked. The pork was not fresh. It must have been cooked a day or two before. It was dry and tasteless. Rice and beans were rice and beans. Not bad, nothing spectacular. Shortly after the croquettas arrived. They looked unappetizing. I could tell they had been deep fried in too hot oil and were taken out of the oil just before reaching the burn mark. When I picked up the first one, it was soaked in oil and had a hole in it. It had been over-fried. I broke it open and most of the stuffing had spilled through the hole. So basically I was served the exterior of a croquetta. I ate my roast pork meal because I was hungry and needed to get on with my day as quickly as possible. The reason I give two stars is because the staff was very nice. I showed the waitress the hole in my croquetta and the missing stuffing of the other croquetta. She apologized and had it taken off the bill. I have zero reasons to return to this restaurant.

Thank you, universe for making this place known to me! Good Central American food in North/West-ish Broward. YES! My first (but certainly won't be my last) visit was on a Friday night at around 9pm. The plaza is kind of dark and the parking lot was badly designed, so parking isn't the best. It also looks older. Inside, it looks like your typical mom-and-pop Latin restaurant. There are some booths along the walls, and tables in the middle. Although I didn't get the impression that it was dirty, it just has this sort of like beat-down look to it. In the daytime, I'm sure it's a much happier looking place, but at night it was kind of dim and dismal. One side of the restaurant has counter service and there were a group of gentlemen sitting there. They appeared to be locals, and often, when others came in, they would greet each other like friends. Oh, the restaurant also has some kind of digital jukebox thing (you pay and you get to select songs to play). The waitresses were the ones who kept paying and they played lots of typical Central American music (excuse my ignorance for not knowing what the genre of music is actually called). The waitresses who served us were friendly. They greeted us in English, but switched over to Spanish once we did. They were attentive throughout the course of our meal and helpful when I had a few questions about some of their dishes. The food was so delicious! I was so excited when I saw "baleadas" on the menu because it had been years since I had one (a previous coworker from Honduras used to make them and share them with me for breakfast). Since they were on the appetizer menu, I thought these were going to be different, but nope...these are HUGE (see picture) and really not easy to cut up and share without making a mess of the baleada. The one I got had everything in it--avocado, carne asada, cheese, eggs, crema...it was delicious. I loved the baleada so much I ate it on my own and was too full to eat more than two bites of my entree (ended up taking it home and eating it the next day). Pupusa and bistec de palomilla were both great. The cabbage slaw that comes with the pupusa was not to my liking. The palomilla was served with beans (I asked for whole beans, but you can also do refried), rice, and a salad (you can't see it in the photo because they placed the steak over it). The entrees also come with homemade tortillas.

You might be wondering what even is Salvadorian food. I am from El Salvador so let me be clear: it is not "Spanish" food. Spanish is a language, silly. Are hamburgers "English" food? Furthermore, Salvadorian food cannot be described as being similar to Mexican, Cuban, Colombian.. or any other country you have in mind. The flavor profile of Salvadorian food is unlike any you've had before. It's quite simplistic with not much spice or heat, but it does not lack flavor. Instead, it relies on ingredients with prominent flavors such as pork, cheese, beans, and corn. Chicken and beef are also featured but pork is the gold standard as authentic pupusas de chicharrón are a sought-after item here in the US. Anyhoo.. what do I recommend you get at this quaint little restaurant? Pupusas. Put simply, they are stuffed tortillas with a side of mild tomato sauce and pickled cabbage. One pupusas might do you in but I'm sure you can eat two. Try some de queso, chicharrón (shredded pork), or revueltas (beans, cheese, and pork). Dig in with your hands, pile on the cabbage and sauce with each bite, and slurp it up. Also, try their soup of the day. You'll be pleasantly surprised. And then throw in a tamal de gallina (chicken tamal). Oh, and it's one tamal.. two tamales. It's tamal. Please stop saying tamaleeee when talking about one tamal.

    Pupusa Queso

This is a small, easily overlooked restaurant in a nondescript shopping enclave on the corner of Kimberly Blvd. and SW 81st Ave. While it may not look like much from the outside, once you go in, you're transported to El Salvador, known as "the country with a smile." Service was welcoming, gracious, and helpful to my husband and I, who are not native Spanish speakers. Appetizers were Pupusas, his with Chicharron, mine with Queso ($2.75). They were served with a tangy slaw that was unlike anything I'd ever tasted - absolutely delicious. My dinner was the Camarones a la Plancha ($12.50), perfectly grilled shrimp with pinto beans and rice and an original tomato salad accompaniment. My husband had the Bistec Churrasco (skirt steak) ($18) that was perfectly grilled and also came with a Chimichurri style sauce, rice and beans, and the tomato salad accompaniment. Both our meals also came with a thick tortilla, made of corn, exquisitely handmade and delicious. The prices were quite reasonable for the quality and quantity of food served and the service was friendly and efficient. If I had one suggestion, it might be to add some drink (ice tea, diet soda) that does not contain sugar. Other than that, our dining experience was one I highly recommend!

    Ulisses S.

Great food and prices are very reasonable! Ordered a Loroco Pupusa "which is a tortilla stuffed with fried red beans" as an appetizer and the wife got a chicken tamale. I ordered the Salpiqueno which is a Flap meat with read beans in top and covered with jalapeños and melted cheese! The steak was awesome very tasty and the combination of all flavors together make it even better! The wife got the Baleada which is pretty good you can't go wrong with that one! The service is slow, we got the appetizer at the same time as we got our lunch! The restaurant was kind of empty and the food takes a long time to come out, have been here on the past and thats a recurring problem! Food is awesome definitely fresh but always takes to long for it to be ready! They should look into that as I said Restaurant was kind slow, imagine how it would be having full house! They have a variety of Salvadorian drinks, like horchata, and sodas with different flavor, I had the grape one and was pretty good!

The best food and service! This is my happy place for lunch, where I can taste a little piece of home. Has all kinds of Latin American dishes, not only the tasty Salvadorean ones. I highly recommend it!

La Casita Salvadoreña, ubicada en Commercial Boulevard, es el clásico hole in the wall que parece discreto por fuera, pero por dentro te da una bofetada de sabor (con cariño ). Las porciones son absurdamente buenas. No sales lleno... sales derrotado. Si no has ido, ve. Si ya fuiste, sabes que digo la verdad. Y si sales con hambre... hiciste algo mal.
