I cannot believe I haven't reviewed this place. Their fresh fruits and vegetables are much fresher than Wal-mart. And usually cheaper. Watch their meats. They are usually cheaper too. Customer service is great. This is fresh cut meat. You can also buy things like chicken fajita meat already mixed. Etc. I love this place. Certain days of the week (m/w/f) military get a discount. 15% I think. Not bad. Always running specials They have fresh baked breads and desserts. El Rodeo is a well stocked market, specializing in meat and in Mexican and other Latin products. It is also one of my favorite places to shop. The layout is simple. On the right, a small produce section. To the left, cookies, candy, and canned goods. Straight ahead you will find an extensive meat counter and a small lunch counter as well. Don't forget to also look up, where you will find colorful piñatas. Oh, and search the far edge of the store for baked goods and cold drinks, including Mexican sodas (In glass bottles, and made with sugar cane instead of corn syrup.) My favorite time to shop at El Rodeo is when I am hungry. I order at the lunch counter and then fill my basket as my food is assembled. I pick up my hot lunch and pay for everything at the register. Some days I head home before I dive in to my too-large container of food, but I usually sit in the small seating area and take advantage of the hot sauce and paper towels that are readily available. Though I have not yet taken advantage of the service, I was happy to see that they are now offering to cook almost any meat you buy from them. I plan on taking them up on the concept soon, and will be sure to time it so that I can go home and place it immediately on the dinner table. Prices are reasonable. I find that I spend more than I mean to as I want to try something new every time I'm there, but always also order the tried and true. No matter. One can never have too many tamales! If you go for lunch, I highly recommend the torta. It is a simple sandwich. Buttered, grilled bread, mayo, cheese, meat, avocado, lettuce, and tomato. So simple, but so perfect for an inexpensive, tasty meal. read more

This place has the best marinated meat in town. My husband and I have searched all over to find a good market which sells good meat. We his the jackpot! When we first walked in it looked like a mini Tijuana market it had all the necessary items to make you think that way (even the churros & the Pandolce) When we got to the meat section, they had a big variety to choose from I cant even remember all the items they had, but what I do remember is that they had really good marinated beef & chicken. I wont lie though The beef is a little Pricey, and I wont complain about it since it is the only good beef in town marinated this way but, we use it sparingly The chicken on the other hand is cheaper and still tastes good. I don't recommend the pastries located at the front of the store, although I have not walked into here once they open so I do not have the knowledge of what they taste fresh. I did see they had a restaurant area which sold Giant Chicharons and tamales! So we all know that means I will be back pretty soon! read more

We are from Ohio and I have to say this is a great meat market / restaurant. We bought Steakes to grill. They were monsters and very reasonable. Also a prime rib roast. They have a nice selection of fresh veritable, dried chillies, authentic Mexican spices and canned favorites. Everyone was very friendly. Picked up some tacos here because our usual spot was closed today. The "asada" tacos taste more like extremely salty ground beef, absolutely disgusting. The barbacoa was all fatty meat with no flavor. I asked for my tacos plain and they put guac and shredded cheese on them, shredded cheese DOES NOT go on tacos, NOBODY in Mexico adds shredded cheese to tacos. Their green sauce is tasteless and thick. Do yourself a favor and drive 2 blocks down to Arandas, they serve authentic Mexican tacos. read more

The guy behind the counter couldn't tell me where it's from besides that they get it from okc and the meat was just so full of food coloring. Way overpriced for the poor quality meat they sell. The customer service is non existent. They are completely rude, probably because they can't understand English. I ordered a burrito and they brought me soup then didn't fix the problem because no one could understand me, I ended up just leaving. Nice little market with a decent selection of Mexican seasonings, candy, drinks and even a hot food section on the end with a sit down area to eat. I ordered the marinated chicken wings and carne asada as well as the chicken and pork tamales. The meat had a strange smell to it by the time I got home and went to attempt to cook it (within 30mn) so aadly I tossed it, but the tamales were ok. Im from L.A. so I give them 2.5 stars for the candy selection and concha bread. El Rodeo needs to step their game upon quality, freshness and variety but for Lawton I guess this is as good as it gets. And a 20% discount on meat for everyone on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3-6pm. So Tuesdays and Thursdays are good days to stock up on fresh meat. Staff is always very friendly and helpful when I come in. I haven't tried their cooked food yet but I'm looking forward to it as it looks delicious. Feeling hungry? I dropped in here hoping to find a bottle of Tajin seasoning. I found that, and much more. The store is a good place to search for items that aren't often found on regular supermarket shelves. But the meat market and kitchen are what brings in people of all culinary backgrounds. In addition to an unbelievable selection of fresh meats, El Rodeo has a kitchen area that prepares and serves food daily in a cafeteria style setting. One can either eat in the small dining area or carry out. Communication can be a problem sometimes if you're not bilingual, but it's worth the trouble. Gorditas with a choice of several different fillings are available on weekends, as are chili rellenos. The gordita is a cornmeal pocket filled with either prepared meat or vegetables, and is a great way to sample the various types of prepared beef or pork offered there. Warm tamales are tasty and come by the bag. And if one is adventurous enough, he or she might sample such dishes as beef tongue stewed in green chili sauce, or cow's stomach (I've enjoyed the tongue, or lengua stew - I think I'll let someone else sample and report on the stomach, though). These aren't Tex-Mex items. If you want the same generic dishes smothered in cheese sauce, go elsewhere. But if you want a good sampling of more authentic Mexican cuisine, El Rodeo is worth a visit. read more

It's the only Hispanic market in town. Which means there is no competition for them so their prices are a little high on everything. People say their meat is the best..etc but I grew up in Los Angeles and let me tell you, their meats are average at best but it is the best place to get meat around here unless you can go shop at the commissary on post then I would recommend that. Produce was too high. Almost 2$ for an avocado and I'm not paying more than 50cents for a lime. Ridiculous. The pan (Mexican bread) too expensive as well but like I said earlier they take advantage of the fact that they are the only Hispanic store around. read more

They have a small restaurant if you'd prefer eating there!! It also has a full Mexican bakery that can't be beat!! On Tuesday and Thursday their meats are 20% off at certain times of afternoon!
