On our way back from meeting a coworker at the Oklahoma/Texas border, my wife suggested we stop in Medicine Park. With our dog in tow, we needed pet-friendly seating, and Joe Mountain fit the bill with their outdoor patio. It turned out to be the perfect choice--the weather was beautiful, and the back patio was completely empty, giving us a quiet, relaxing spot to enjoy our meal. The indoor space is small with limited seating, but the patio more than made up for it. The menu is on the smaller side, but the items were unique and definitely caught our attention. My wife ordered the Baffle--a creative take on biscuits and gravy where the biscuit is pressed into a waffle. I went with the Blue Cheese Omelette. Honestly, I never would have thought of putting blue cheese in an omelet, but it worked! It was rich, flavorful, and so memorable that I'm planning to recreate it at home. Drink choices were limited (no sodas except root beer), but we made it work. Service was easy--we were told to order inside when ready, and everything came out promptly. Overall, Joe Mountain was a fun little stop with a quirky menu and a great outdoor setup. We couldn't have picked a better day to visit, as the timing and crowd level made the experience even better. And I just love the historic cobblestone look to this little place. The inside seating area is small with about 5 tables. There are tables outside as well. It is made to order style where you walk in and place your order at the kiosk. The coffee is self serve so make sure to ask for a cup. The house blend was great! Definitely go here. Absolutely the best waffles a you'll ever eat. And best service you'll find anywhere. Very cute inside, most tables are outside and shaded, so don't worry about the heat. There are more tables in the back as well and you can bring dogs (if you must). If you go early enough (8 or so) there's no wait. The coffee is self serve and very good. No crumb left behind, our kids ate everything and wanted to move to medicine park and eat there everyday. Also they have maps of all the local trails that the locals keep up. As visitors to Medicine Park, this little place didn't look like much from the outside, but we gave it a shot and I'm glad we did! Ate a later breakfast on our last day visiting town. It's small inside and all the tables were full, but it was just a short wait and we were seated. After a full morning of cleaning gardens, we we ready for some food. This place does not disappoint. First and foremost, the food is made to order and is fresh and hot coming out. I ordered the Joe Mountain toast. I've seen similar toast previously and the avocado is scarce. This toast had plenty of avocado needed for energy and the flavor of the salsa and mayo mix is amazing. My g-baby ordered the strawberry shortcake waffles. This girl never stops talking and I'm pretty sure I didn't hear her say a word the entire time she was eating. I had to taste them and they were amazing. The atmosphere is amazing the they employees make you feel welcome. A terrible horrible no good very BAD restaurant. It's NOT quaint, it's a mess. It's NOT laid back, it's non-existent customer service. It's awful. They charge for EV-ER-Y-THING, your water, your toast with your eggs--I'm surprised there wasn't a surcharge to have a seat! So a sub-par breakfast in a dump ends up costing $20 EACH, even for the kids! Should have left right away but had driven a distance based on some of the other delusional reviews here, and unfortunately the town didn't provide any alternatives. Very good breakfast. The place looks small on the outside, but the inside is very roomy. It fits the atmosphere of this quaint little town.

Food was fabulous, service was good, and the guys were very hospitable. We visited twice during our stay in the area. The place is small, and because the food is good and made to order, there's plenty of people that visit, so patience is key.
