This was our first visit to the new El Patron which use to be El Rodeo. We arrived around 2:30 pm in the afternoon and the parking lot was still quite full. We were seated promptly. They do offer free chips and salsa. I did not care for the either but my friend commented he liked the spicy salsa. It took about 15 minutes from the time we sat down to receive our food. I had the Taco Salad with the Shredded Chicken and say what makes it stand out from other restaurants is the chicken is not canned it is chicken breast they cook however (maybe in a pot) and served hot on the salad. My friend had the Chili Relleno and he said it was good. We both ate off the lunch menu which is served daily until 3 pm. I could use for the music volume to be lower but it always load in these restaurants. The place was clean and our server was polite and checked our table. The building is brand new, decor is very nice, well stocked bar (even if they don't carry Blanton's), very nicely done bathrooms. We met our friends there to try it out. We were all very impressed with the service, food portions and qualities. In fact my best friend says it is now his favorite Mexican restaurant. Of course chips and salsa are brought right away, but we also order guacamole as an appetizer. It was not your typical mush guacamole, but was made fresh at your table chunky style and waiter asked if there was any ingredients that we wanted left out. It was excellent guacamole and my wife says the best she has ever had. The menu is pretty extensive and a good number of dish have multiple option to them. I ordered Parrilla Mexicana which is a Fajita dish, it had Steak, Chicken, Shrimp, Chorizo and Bacon in it. It was excellent with the portion being big enough that I brought 1/2 home after using up the flour tortilla that came with it. It also came with Mexican rice and refied beans. One thing I always do when going to a New Mexican restaurant is try one of their tamale. I can tell how the foods going to be by how good the tamale is. This one was a little bigger than I expected, the filling to casing was portioned well and was very good. Although this place appears a bit rundown, the service and the food were good. beef hardshell taco had plenty of beef, lettuce, tomato, and cheese, and the chicken enchilada with Verde sauce was also pretty good. Food was great the waiter was pretty hot too lol. Had the texas fajitas one of the best I have ever had.

When in Robertsdale I will come back to el Rodeo. The menu was very good and quite interesting. The employees were very very accommodating and the establishment seemed clean. I hate to write the whole review on the cheese sauce but the cheese sauce was very flavorful and the Choriqueso Was not greasy at all. I would give it a try. read more

Finally! We finally found great Mexican food around here. Actually, a waiter from another Mexican restaurant recommended this place to us. We went with one thing in mind: mole. They do have mole poblano, and it's actually some of the best mole I've ever had. I've ventured out a couple of times and had the chicken enchiladas with verde and a shrimp taco salad. Those were both fantastic, and they use fresh local seafood, but it's so hard to not order the mole. The service is always great and the prices are very reasonable. If you're tired of all of the mediocre Mexican food in Mobile and on the Eastern Shore, it's worth the drive to Robertsdale. read more

This location is a very old building but clean. I enjoyed my meal and the servers were friendly. This was a recommendation by my brother. While I don't always trust his opinion, he is my baby brother after all, he got this right. The salsa was good but my enchiladas verdes was the best! My boyfriend had the burrito which was loaded with toppings included some very tasty guacamole. We were there on Halloween and I'm guessing they weren't expecting a crowd. I only saw 2 wait staff. In our section 3 other tables with families were sat right after us. I have to give our waitress credit, she never lost her cool. Our food came out timely and pipping hot. Can't complain about this place. I do wish there was a bit more of a "party" for Cinco de Mayo but their food is good and prices were right. Margaritas were priced well for the amount of alcohol in them. For that reason alone I won't give this 5 stars. Maybe you should order a double but most places have the same price for a margarita with extra tequila in it. I am from Los Angeles. This was the worst Mexican food that I have ever eaten. I ordered a taco and enchilada combo. It was made with boiled ground beef. No seasoning at all. Just God awful...my wife ordered a steak burrito, they chopped the steak up so much with the other ingredients that you could not see it. She added avocado to the burrito and that was nowhere to be found. I would not recommend this place to anyone. I would also suggest that they replace the cook with someone who knows what Mexican food is suppose to look and taste like. read more

Stopped by here on the way home from a Festival in Foley. After we were seated, it was about 10 minutes before anyone even came by our table. After that, another ten minutes to get chips.
