We were already there, and I love pupusas so we figured why not? The place was busy and kinda small with a bar in the back. We patiently waited for a booth to be cleaned up and took our seats. The location has high ceilings, but the seating was a bit on the small side. The waitress took our order and waited a bit before getting our drinks. They seemed overwhelmed, so it was a bit before we got our limes for our Coronas, our appetizer, and then our food We ordered picadero as an appetizer and I ordered some pupusas. The picadero was good, definitely bar food. The pork chunks were crispy and seasoned well. The pupusas I had were okay, I've definitely had better. The overall feel was definitely bar food though, nothing wrong with that. My visit wasn't crazy amazing, just okay. Nice spot to chill and not be too bothered. But that's about it, nothing to that'll make me want to come back again.

My first time eating Honduran food, too. Homemade Jarritos de vidrio (a sweet non-carbonated soda) that was nice to have, instead of typical lunch beverages. Baleadas sencilla was savory and flavorful (their hot sauce makes even tastier). The carne asada was amazing! While the beef was little tough, it was still flavorful. Probably the BEST sweet plantains I've had anywhere... Cuban, Puerto Rican... anywhere! Even the white rice tasted flavorful.. Will definitely be back soon... thanks for an unexpected and delicious lunch!

We were quite hungry and Tela wasn't too busy. The inside is nice and clean, the service is great, and the staff is very on top of things. They do a nice job attending to customers and make sure they get everyone's orders correct. I also liked the interior and found it to have an upbeat vibe to it, making it very inviting! I had heard great things about the quesadillas, so I ended up ordering one with a side of chips and queso, as well as some plantains. I got carne asada meat, with cheese, refried beans, peppers, and corn. My friends ended ordering bowls. The food is made fresh to order and is curated to your liking. They have a nice variety of toppings, etc. to choose from, which I appreciated! My quesadilla was served fresh right off the flat-top! It was the perfect size, packed with tender, flavorful carne asada, and a nice amount of cheese. The beans complimented the meat and cheese well. And the sweetness from the peppers and corn was a nice addition. I thought this was a solid quesadilla, but it was super greasy. It was packed with fillings, however that made it fall apart slightly, making it harder to eat. The queso had great flavor with a touch of heat from the jalapeños. But the chips were not good at all. They were so greasy and felt stale or undercooked. They were not crispy at all and just tasted like tortillas coated in the hot oil. I was extremely disappointed in this to say the least. The plantains on the side were very good though! Overall, I thought Tela was just ok. I wasn't impressed with the greasiness of the food and the tortilla chips were the most disappointing thing! While my quesadilla wasn't bad, it was too heavy. The meat had great flavor though! The food itself was just too greasy for my liking and I felt that it didn't live up to the "healthy" motto they stand by. While this certainly wasn't the worst food I've had by any means, it probably isn't a place I would frequent in midtown either. They are new, so I will give them another chance at some point and I'm hoping to have a slightly better experience! I will say the service is great though.

The menu is simple with options for bowls, burritos, or quesadillas. I went with a chicken bowl with white rice, pico de gallo, corn salsa, sweet plantain, cilantro, lettuce, hot honey vinaigrette, and chips. Everything was flavorful and well-prepared. The chicken was juicy and tender, and the hot honey vinaigrette added a great touch. I didn't realize the chips would be mixed into the bowl, but it actually worked out nicely. The portion was big, plenty for dinner with leftovers for lunch the next day. Overall, very yummy and a good value.
