I had the radical rice plate with Spanish rice and pork. It was delicious. Very well balanced flavors. My husband had the Mofongo with pork and he said ir was good. The sauce can be a bit over powering if you end up using too much like he did so heads up Our daughters split the tacos and burritos and both loved the burrito and thought the tacos were "mid" teenager talk that means nothing special Our son had the pork sandwich and loved it. It comes with chips and he thought those were a bit bland but the sandwich made up for it Overall would come back. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. They had a pretty nice line when we got here but the line moved fast and the food came out pretty quick. It was fresh, hot and pretty flavorful. I love that it's open sitting. We got to enjoy the nice weather while we ate our food. They have a couple ceiling fans that help on a hot day. read more

The Pork Canaos are roasted pork served up on sweet plantains cut in half and topped with some pico and a shackaise sauce with your choice of a bean and rice combo. The Puffy Tacos give you a choice of beef, chicken or pork. Terri opted for one of each. Cool beach vibe to the place with surf inspired decor. You order from the window that faces the street and pay at the window just around the corner...take your seat and they bring your order out to you. The service was fine. We order to go. When we arrive home , the fried pieces of yuca had a blonde hair on it. The chicken mofongo was dry and the chicken dry. The nachos lack cheese on them, the beef meat was season. We try a desert that was a fry crepe with cookie dough was not to our liking. Maybe to others. Overall service was quick. This is a cute outdoor area in NSB to grab some tacos! I have had their fish tacos before but this was my first time eating at the location. We ordered a Cuban sandwich that was their take on a Cuban. It had pepperjack instead of Swiss, it was a little dry, it could've used some more mustard, the chicken tacos were average. The fish tacos really shined! The cabbage was crisp and the fish was Mahi Mahi and were substantial!. I would definitely come back for the fish tacos! read more

Best taco spot I've been to in a long time! While vacationing in New Smyrna Beach, a cashier at Publix recommended The Taco Shack--and wow, what a great call. It seems to be a family-run place, and you can feel the love in every bite. The food was absolutely phenomenal--fresh, flavorful, and made to order. Be aware, they do close early, and there was a long line when we arrived, but it moved quickly and was 100% worth the wait. The dining area is open-air with outdoor seating, and they've got fans going to help keep things cool. Such a great local find--don't miss it if you're in the area! read more

Love Miguel's Mofongo with pork! For me it's that dish you fall in love with and can't bring yourself to order something else from the menu on your return visits. Outdoor covered seating with ceiling fans. Sometimes the ordering line can be long. This is a favorite lunch place for us. read more

This was my first time at the The Taco Shack and it did NOT disappoint! We shared entrees and really enjoyed the blackened fish tacos & steak nachos... I hear the steak quesadilla is also great so I'm trying that next time for sure! I love the style, decor and ambiance of this place - a Mexican food surfin' safari. To top things off, "Taco Mike" was kind enough to bring us chips and guacamole and this really great dessert ( I forgot its name) to try on the house since it was our first time visiting. This little shack on the side of US 1 in New Smyrna is quirky and funky and does the best "Taco Thursday". Its hours are a bit fluid- the sign says "12-ish" and they close for holidays and certain events. There is always a line, but it's because it's worth it. read more

I ordered 3 crunchy tacos for $6.50 - one beef, one pork & one chicken. I also ordered a side of guacamole. A server brought out my food in less than 10 minutes. The guacamole was good. The Taco Shack is a classic New Smyrna Beach favorite! If you haven't been, you need to go! If you can't remember the last time you've been, you need to go! The service is top notch, the vibe is perfect for a beach town and the food is amazing! You'll pull up to a dirt parking lot with the cutest outside patio. It has all the beach town and surfer feels. The menu is expansive and all items are delicious. Everything is freshly made and has the best flavor. Don't be deterred by the long line outside the window. That line will move quick and is much deserved for the great food they are serving up. My personal favorite are the shack-a-ladas. They are like a soft taco stuffed with meaty goodness and topped with queso and other amazing sauces. The food is mostly very good, portions seems small. The tortilla chips are just okay, Not fresh and the serving size is small. The customer service is great, very nice people and they have "to go" down to a science. We have tried several, almost all menu items, and they are okay. I think the taco salad is the best bang for your buck. The lines are often very long and when calling to order it's difficult to get through and often the phones are off prompting you to stand in line if you choose them. Overall it is just okay and I don't really see what the fuss is all about when there are other, more authentic, options. Seating is outdoors, and limited but it's nice to have the option to eat there or take away. read more

I have been to the Taco Shack quite a few times. This is a local favorite that is always busy so plan on waiting in line just about any time they are open. They have good food for fair prices and the beers are cheap as well. I took my Mom here while she was in town visiting. We ordered the Gnarly Nachos with chicken ($6.50), Emmy's Empanadas ($5.75) and a yuengling ($2). I wouldn't say the food is authentic Mexican but it was good, hot and fresh. Everything was made to order and brought out as soon as it was ready. The beer was ice cold and good on this hot summer day. You can't beat the prices; for less than $16, we both had more than enough food and a cold beer. I like coming here because the food is always on point and the NSB locals are very welcoming and easy to talk to. There are a few down falls: -Trying to find parking. -Waiting in line to order (today 20 min). -Finding a table to sit at after you order then sitting outside (today was 90+). Note: The staff keeps the place clean but you do have to keep the occasional fly from attacking your meal. I wouldn't let that stop you from coming here. It still hasn't stopped me. These minor complaints are quickly forgotten once your meal arrives and that cold beer hits the back of your throat. read more

Let's taco-about this place! This little shack is such a gem. It gives off that surfer-beachy vibes with the beach music playing, fun decor, and surfing videos playing. The Empanada's, fluffy tacos, Spanish Lasagna, Tostones, and Yucca Fries are my favorite here. The tacos aren't the best, kinda bland but they're pretty good for the money, especially the Mojo Steak.
