We went for our 35th wedding anniversary. When we checked Open Tables they only had 4:30 & 5:00 pm available but when I called at exactly 4:30 the young Lady gave us a 7:00pm seating. Which was fine. We did not want to eat late. When we got there they had our table ready. Very nice Ambiance & the tables weren't close to each others. We started off with Vellamo Sparkling water since we don't drink. We started with the Pulpo which was tender & had pieces of potatoes. (I thought it was a small portion). The corn pupusa with slaw & marinated cabbage was delicious and enough for 2 people. We shared the Conch soup which was made with coconut cream. It was delicious. The chunks of Conch were not too chewy. For dessert we had the Americano Coffee & Sticky Toffee rice pudding with Rum RAISIN ICE CREAM & Sliced Strawberries. For our anniversary present the they gave us Two Divine Cookies with raspberry filling. Since we don't drink Champagne. The waitress was on top of it refilling our Sparkling Waters right away & taking away our dirty dishes. She bought over another Bottle of Vellamo. We visited again on Thanksgiving-eve. This time we had a party of 5. I was very grateful that the restaurant was able to accommodate a last minute addition from 4 to 5! We changed our salad this time and tried the Caesar, split in the kitchen. Tasty! Fresh anchovies were offered and accepted. We had 3 lobsters with variations of sauce on the side, sauce without cilantro and regular. All the lobster was great. It was tender and succulent with that nice flavorful sauce. The potatoes underneath were so creamy and yet still had some pieces to bite. I was the only one with leftovers, and even leftover the dish kept its separate elements and tastes. BTW, they use real plastic containers, so I didn't lose all my sauce to some recycled paper absorbent container. We also had 2 of the pork. Both plates were cleaned. Visiting from out of town we found Chucherias on Yelp and decided to stop by and glad we did. The entrance is in the courtyard of the building and it is quite beautiful as you walk up to the restaurant. Signage is a little hard to see. We ordered the Beef Turnovers and Cod and Potato Croquettes. Both were good, solid appetizers. They also bring out two sauces with bread. The green one is cilantro based and was my favorite. I neglected to take pictures of these as my intent was just to enjoy the dining experience. I ordered Chucherias Hondurenas. This dish is amazing! The tenderloin was so cooked to perfection. Up until this dish I had never walked away from a restaurant blown away by a beef dish, but this was the one. It was melt in your mouth tender. Simply seasoned to where the meat, au jus, and caramelized onions gave it all the flavor needed! My wife ordered the Roast pork, which was also amazing. I'll let her write her review on that though, but you CANNOT go wrong with either dish. My sincerest compliments to the chef. Amazing entree's. The service was top notch also. Attentive without being intrusive. Our waitress clearly explained everything to us, and answered all of our questions. Needless to say if you've read this far, you know that I highly recommend this place. It's ideal for a date night, the meal wasn't cheap, but you owe it to yourself to enjoy a great meal here. OMG this place is a hidden gem! I say hidden because it's nestled in an old building along with a brewery I never new was there. The inside is small, very small and intimate with about 12 tables tops. Service is five star and very attentive. I don't remember the name of our server but he was amazing and very knowledgeable about the menu. We ordered the octopus appetizer along with the corn cakes. Delicious! I had the pork dinner and my husband had the fish of the night. I haven't had a better meal in years!! Desert was off the chain. Since everything on the menu sounded spectacular we could not decide on which entrée to order so my husband asked our server if the chef could possibly do a sample platter to include seafood, steak and chicken. This is my first trip to Daytona Beach and this place is a must try. I have been here twice over two day because they are that good... and the wife agrees so I got the second vote of approval. Front of the house are efficient, friendly and know the menu and explain and describe the dishes well. Service was part of the reason for the second trip... but the food was amazing. First night I finally got to try Conch Soup / Sopa de Caracol... and it was everything I was hoping. Delicious and tender sweet Conch meat... coconut milk broth... my wife had Catracho (The Honduran) and the tender beef with the rice and beans... wow made me thing steak should always come with rice and beans... Second night I had a special, a fried Red Snapper and the flavors took me back to my grandma frying fish... it was so good my wife who doesn't eat fish got envy over my dish. She had Rice with Chicken / Arroz con Pollo and it was a savory goodness and a huge portion as well... Desserts were amazing as well, Tres Leche Cake was so good, and then the second night we had cookies... they were too good to describe... highly recommend. They even brought her a mini bday dessert which was really nice. It was a bit of a hassle to get reservations and they don't allow parties bigger then 6 we had to tell them we where flying in from out of town. The menu was good too small but good I also think the chef should have some help . It's a women who's been cooking for a while, she did a fantastic job just they should have some one helping her. This place is absolutely incredible. I was by myself on a work trip looking for places close by to where I was staying to eat. I happened to go to the brewery a few days before and saw the signs for this place. It had a dress code posted on their website and I decided to call beforehand to confirm what was appropriate to wear and stated that I was by myself and just wanted to sit at the bar. The person I spoke with told me that I should arrive after a certain time because they had reservations to accommodate for. The venue is a small, intimate establishment with amazing energy. I was welcomed upon arrival and said that they did have a small staff. Every employee was extremely friendly. The service was extremely professional. As my food arrived, the food was at the same caliber as the service. Everything was beyond perfect. The employee (assuming it was a manager) that attended to me provided answers to all my questions and explained that the kitchen was run by the chef and one assistant. They worked table by table. While I was in no rush, each part of my meal came out in a timely manner and was absolutely delicious. As I was sitting, they greeted each guest with open arms, hugging regulars and exceeding standards. Other servers made sure to check in on me to make sure I was doing alright. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone coming to the area. I enjoyed every aspect as well as seeing how they interacted with each of their guests. Once inside the courtyard the beauty hits you. It's like a step back into a hacienda with old oaks and cooling shade. We were confused as to which end of the courtyard had the restaurant, but the folks at the neighboring bar pointed us toward it. The restaurant is lovely with an imposing fireplace on one side and a small bar on the other and about a dozen neat linen covered tables between. We were a party of 6 at 6 pm and ordered a variety of appetizers to share. We all loved the basil sauce that was served on the side and the more adventurous went for the habanero sauce. I liked them all, but would try the calamari next time since we somehow missed that one. I think 3 of us had the grouper and rice. I thought they mentioned asparagus going with it, but maybe that was somehow just an inclusion in the recipe. It was quite good, the steak and vegetable plate were said to be wonderful. One guest who has a hard time with his teeth found the pork to be flavorful but too difficult for him to chew. Cocktails and wine were excellent. Unfortunately, we couldn't stay for desert, but will be happy to try this restaurant again for a special event. Service was very good and meals were served with style. Rui and Mayra, and i'm sure the rest of the staff at chucherias, create such a welcoming and warm environment! but i think that's enough about the staff! the food is phenomenal! it's one of those meals i find myself thinking about weeks after. everything was fresh, interesting, but still traditional and familiar. we got plenty of dishes but i'll only mention my favorites. the best app we got was the spanish style octopus; the octopus was so tender and was even enjoyed by people who don't typically like octopus. i got the caribbean salad which is the best salad i've ever had. the passion fruit reduction was killer and everything was balanced so nicely. it was sweet and summery and so delicious. for my entree, i got the roast pork with rice, beans, and plantains. i loved this dish and it made for great leftovers. we got the flan, tres leches, and sticky toffee pudding for dessert and the sticky toffee pudding was the unexpected favorite! it was sweet and indulgent and heart shaped! overall, all of the dishes surprised and delighted us. you really can't go wrong when ordering here! if i ever come back to the holly hill area, i will absolutely be making a reservation at chucherias! read more

We have dined at Chucherias at least three times in the past few years on our trips to Daytona. Every time the ambiance has been lovely. The dishes are amazing and they have even been so kind as to help us out with hints of the recipe for one of their sauces. One time, when dining outside with our younger children, they were happy to accommodate us inside when a sudden downpour occurred. We have always endeavored to come right at opening when our children were younger and the staff have been very gracious to our family. We appreciate their hospitality and we look forward to dining with them again. I don't have access to a photo of very special meal we had a few years ago with my in-laws featuring whole snapper. I would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant if you want Central American flavors, and I hope they will be able to accommodate our family soon. read more
