We were there Saturday night, the second night of their fiesta for their grand opening. They had a live band. They were great that sounds that they have my five month old grandson dancing away. The service was outstanding. They kept trying and they were. They did an amazing job keeping up with the customers fantastic. I can't put it any other way outstanding they were going up and down the steps in and out of the building is especially for service outside for people that were waiting for a table or even sitting at a table just outstanding Lexi Sebastian Bailey, Hugh shout out to all three of you great job!! I spotted the owner the Abuela a few times going around the tables, cleaning tables and trying to make everyone comfortable and making sure everything was right. There was a much older woman. I'm not sure who she was. She could've been a family member, but I believe she's the one that made the subcultural. I saw a video and I believe it was her shout out the sun cultural was right on Point and reminded me of my grandmother's.. every time we go the food is just fantastic. It just reminds me of a lot of comfort food from home.

This. Food. Is. Amazing…read more ...but like a flash in the pan; they're already gone. A cryptic message and off they go to greener pastures. What the hell is happening at Lokels Only that causes a brilliant and extremely talented Brown woman and entrepreneur to pack her DELICIOUS shit up and leave within one week of her grand opening? We may never know. Her announcement was professional and powerful... class act. For the record, the food was fantastic. I went on opening night and ordered two beef empanadas, two chicken empanadas, arroz con gandules, y platanos. The empanadas were perfectly crisp and not too hard and not the slightest bit soggy. Internally they were moist and seasoned perfectly. When I say they were the best Puerto Rican empanadas I have had in over a decade (last time was in NYC), I am not exaggerating. The arroz con gandules had the perfect chew and were seasoned well. I hate when there is too much cumin in the rice, and I hate when the rice is soggy. She has this down to a science. The fried platanos were perfectly sweet and CRISP on the outside, and just right in their softness (see: not overcooked and mushy, but also perfectly ripe to begin with. It was a pleasant experience, and the $30 spent was worth every penny. This is a huge loss to the Chinatown community and Krystal's presence and energy will be missed.

From the first bite, the flavors hit perfectly. The meats were seasoned and cooked just right, layered with fresh toppings that brought balance and texture to every mouthful. There's a richness to it, but it never feels overwhelming--just straight-up satisfying comfort food done right. Now, I'll be honest--the bread was slightly on the soggy side. But here's the thing... it didn't take away from the experience. If anything, it soaked up all that flavor, and once you leaned into it, it worked. Every bite still delivered. Pairing it with a Coco Rico? That was the move. The coconut sweetness cut through the savory flavors of the sandwich perfectly--it's one of those combinations you don't realize you need until you try it. Even though I ordered pickup, the experience still stood out. The staff was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and gave off that genuine "you're family here" vibe that you can't fake. 10/10--absolutely recommend. Hispanic food options like "Arroz con gandules y pernil" are great, but are very expensive for takeout. A plate like this with a fountain drink will come up near $20 per plate, a price I would not pay for considering how cheap it would be. At Lelo's we got 4 FULL plates with 4 drinks that totaled near $50. The food quality was very good. As someone who has parents from the homeland who are picky about their pernil, they said it was great. Take that for what it's worth. Should you be off I-4 coming or leaving Orlando, I highly suggest you try this place. Worth your bang for your buck!

I went with yellow rice, red beans, and sweet plantains. My wife ordered the chicken combo with a side of yellow rice and yuca (her first time trying yuca!). The lady helping us (pretty sure it was the owner) was incredibly friendly and patient, guiding us through the menu like old friends. We paid, grabbed a table, and dug in. My wife took one bite of the rotisserie chicken and declared it the best she's had in ages--juicy, perfectly seasoned, and falling off the bone. No surprise there; we spotted those massive rotisserie ovens spinning away, so chicken is clearly their specialty! She then tried the yuca (boiled and crispy-edged, I assume) and loved it--said it was buttery and addictive. Her yellow rice had tasty chunks of different meats mixed in, and she couldn't stop raving about the flavor. I mixed my yellow rice (a different style from hers) with the red beans on the plate--pure comfort food heaven, rich, savory, and perfectly balanced. The sweet plantains? Outstanding. Caramelized just right, sweet but not overpowering, soft inside with that ideal crisp edge. Every bite was perfection. The place had a great vibe too--clean bathrooms, lively Spanish beats playing, and a casual, welcoming atmosphere that made us feel right at home. We're already planning our next visit to try more dishes (that mofongo and rotisserie chicken platter are calling our names!). If you're craving authentic Puerto Rican BBQ and sides done right, Lelo's is a must-stop. Highly recommend--5 stars all the way!

Years later, and the food is still what keeps bringing us back!…read more My husband is on vacation this week, so we headed to El Pollo Colorao for lunch today as a party of four. We've been eating here for years, and while we love supporting local, enjoy the atmosphere, and have always found the staff friendly, let's be honest -- the food is why we keep coming back. We arrived around 1:30 and had two groups ahead of us at the counter, but the line moved quickly. In fact, there was a pretty steady line the entire time we were there, right up until we left around 2:30. Their takeout business was hopping too! Despite how busy they were, we had no problem finding a table in the dining room. I decided to branch out this visit and tried the #14 Pernil Sandwich with yellow rice. The sandwich has roasted pork and potato straws on their delicious bread, and my first comment after taking a bite was about how flavorful the pork was. It was tender and juicy, and I loved the contrast of the crunchy potato straws with the pork and that soft, slightly sweet bread. So good! Two people in our group ordered the #2 Tripleta, one with yellow rice and the other with yuca. The Tripleta is actually the favorite sandwich of all three of my family members. They love the combination of meats along with the crunch from the potato straws. My husband is normally firmly on Team Tripleta too, but decided to branch out and order the Mediodia this time. We were told when ordering that it would take about 30 minutes and were given the option to change his order, which I appreciated. He decided to wait and was glad he tried it. He enjoyed it, but since he tends to prefer savory over sweet, I have a feeling he'll be right back to his beloved Tripleta next time. And, as always, he got his favorite side -- the maduros. Yum! When everything was ready, they brought our food and drinks right to the table on a tray. The gentleman who took our order was very personable, and Abel came over to our table while we were eating. He recognized my husband and remembered his name -- which really impressed me considering it has probably been about a year since our last visit. And can we talk about the value? We spent about $60 for four meals with sides, three drinks AND a bag containing two loaves of their bread to take home. Yes, we buy the bread every time. It's that good. Even better, the portions are so generous that everyone took about half of their sandwich home for dinner. They definitely don't skimp on the meat here, so you fill up quickly. The dining area is comfortable and has some fun, whimsical artwork that gives the place plenty of personality. They also have a nice assortment of drink options and seating by the windows for customers waiting on takeout orders, which seems to help keep the dining tables available even when they're busy. After all these years and multiple visits, El Pollo Colorao continues to earn 5 stars from us. Great food, generous portions, good value, friendly people, and a locally owned restaurant we're happy to continue supporting.
