Portions are heavy on the rice/beans but very skimpy on meat. It didn't used to be this way. Prices went up a lot and food quality went downhill. Male server (possibly manager) is very rude and unprofessional. Myself, my friends, and my family have all had multiple interactions with him that have made us hesitant to go back. He used to openly hit on my mother in front of all of us, and it made her (and the rest of our family) extremely uncomfortable. She stopped eating there because of it. I have been back in occasionally throughout the years and I'm unsure if he dislikes me because my mom wasn't into being hit on or if he just treats all his customers with blatant disrespect. Today I tried to order a couple sides on door dash to go with the dinner I'm making at home (guacamole, refried beans, and some sautéed peppers & onions). On DoorDash, there's no description for their side of veggies so once I had already placed my order, I called them to confirm. I was just looking for onions and peppers, not an assortment of vegetables. He answered the phone and told me I needed to select the side of onions and peppers listed on DoorDash. I tried to explain that I already placed my order and there was no such option on their menu but he just kept interrupting me and told me I would be getting broccoli and cauliflower. I asked him if I should cancel my order or if there was a way they could just charge me extra if they needed to to give me onions and peppers and he told me he didn't know and then hung up the phone. I tried again to find the side of onions and peppers he mentioned on their menu on DoorDash, but confirmed that it did not exist. When I attempted to call back, my call was ignored repeatedly until I used my sister's phone to call and then suddenly he answered. It was like 4 o'clock on a weekday, not prime time busy hour. When I finally got them to answer the phone, I again tried to politely explain that there is no button for the side of onions & peppers I was trying to order so I paid for the side of veggies and that they could charge me the difference if they needed to. He acted annoyed and rushed me off the phone as quickly as he could. His attitude is the specific reason we don't go there anymore and I won't be doing any takeout again either. Menu says they use healthy ingredients, like extra virgin olive oil. Upon asking the only oil in the kitchen is canola oil. If all you care about is taste it's a ok place but if your concerned at all with health the menu has a bunch of lies about there ingredients. read more

Between a buddy and myself got 3 pours Hornitos silver dressed up, each and 3 beers each; twelve drinks 38$. If that's not a crazy deal I don't know what is. Make sure it's happy hour. read more

I've been in a couple times now and I have to say they offer the best food and drinks available in Shelton. The menu has a lot of options and the amount of food given is enough for 2 meals and drinks are about three dollars less than the surrounding restaurants. Comes to the table quick!! We eat out a lot so we compare prices & food. Service is good but the food is great and worth the tight ( sometimes loud) seating. This is now my favorite Mexican food option for Shelton. I just got my to go order of tortilla soup. As you can see, the container was an inch below the top and has a few pieces of chicken and even fewer pieces of avocado. No cheese. No tomato. It's chicken broth with hardly anything else in it but the aforementioned, pathetic bits of chicken and avocado and some diced onion and cilantro flakes. Absolutely disgraceful and a complete ripoff. I should have known I was in for a cup of disappointment when the guy who took our order was exceptionally rude, like he was doing us a favor by answering the phone. There are over half a dozen places to get Mexican food in town. This one will never get my business or that of my entire office of coworkers again. read more

It's really sad because the food is good but it's not at this point it's not worth it disrespects every time I come in to grab my to go order to the point where I'd rather take my business somewhere that has worse food, but better service.. Pretty polarizing reviews here so wanted to leave our experience. The establishment is old, could probably use some updates but also who cares? We didn't come here expecting to check our coats in. Service was kinda off at first but nicer as the meal went on. Maybe she was having a moment when we got there but she was fine after a little bit and until the end. She was also very prompt and quick with everything but we never felt rushed. Food was great. It's mostly the traditional American style Mexican food which admittedly isn't our normal thing. We normally eat super authentic Mexican fare but every now and then will be in the mood for the other side. This spot kinda bridged the two in some manners. I had these carnitas that were hooked up in a way I had never seen before. They serve these small pieces of pork roast w the bone on that you can pull the meat off of and make into tacos. So good. The miss had shrimp street tacos and they were also excellent. Would eat here again for sure. read more

(Review for Bar Side) Good food, service, atmosphere, and selection so it's 5 star in my book! Went here for the first time on a snowy day looking for lunch and unable to drive far, so we walked. Ended up having to walk back because I forgot my ID and they're pretty strict about it (which isn't a bad thing I just wasn't expecting it) We ordered the Ultimate Nachos with Carne Asada and the Carne Asada Tacos. The Tacos had a fresh cooked tortilla I'm assuming they make in house and came with a salsa cup made out of a corn shell with an orange colored salsa that was really sour and mildly spicy, but very flavorful. The meat (on both the dishes), was very juicy and perfectly cooked, unlike the carne asada at a lot of places. That said, it did have far less charring or grilled flavor than most places as well. The price for the portion size was a little higher then I might expect at some places but the food was quality and the place is nice. The nachos were first and foremost, huge. They were on a big blue plate with a very thin layer of nachos spread across limiting the amount of naked chips you found on the bottom which was awesome. They also totally didn't skimp on the cheese at all and the beans were evenly distributed across so each bite had everything on it. The ingredients weren't fancy and it wasn't the most flavorful nacho I've ever had but it was the most perfectly constructed plate of nachos I've ever eaten in terms of ingredient distribution. After we ate in the darker side of the bar, we played pool and shuffleboard over in the well lit section, both of which had nice and distinctive atmospheres which is really a nice thing in a bar setting. They also had board and card games, and everything was clean. Overall, this bar is one I'll definitely be back to, even if it is a little pricier then I had originally expected given what I had heard about it. Zaren(?) was a fantastic bartender that held down the entire bar by himself with no bar back or anything even while playing waiter. Great service! read more

I'm honestly surprised this doesn't get better reviews. They have so many choices for vegan/vegetarian Mexican, I was quite shocked. We don't get this where I live and this is quite a small town. Figured chips, cheese and ground beef would be separate and we would oven it when home.. easy... No we didn't get his meal.. NOTHING.. NO ingredients to make it. Let me start with we just came here from the race track looking for some dinner. First off did we make a mistake? No. Did we make a good decision? No. We were promptly seated and waited on, drinks came quickly but they brought us chips instead of garlic bread for our Marinara sauce. Our waitress was from Georgia I believe and she was very quick and witty. Let's start with the spiciest thing at the table was our waitress, and there was plenty of that to go around. As soon as we ordered our food I knew we made a decision! The chili colorado tastes like it was made in Sicily, the chili verde tasted like a tomatillo had a baby on the plate. The 3 amigos by far was the most amazing, those french inspired mushrooms were delicious. The street tacos came with a green salsa that could actually pass as left over bottom salsa from my el victoria bottle. The appetizers and soup came out at the same time as the meal, nothing like crowding all the flavors together, yet even when mixed could not coax anything close to the flavor of mexican food. Here at Skyler's italian chip grill they will serve you food on a platter, it will be freshly cooked, but just don't have an expectation. For the record, I love their food. I used to live next door to the Lacey location but I've moved to Shelton. Online ordering doesn't work so don't bother putting your card info in. Called for pickup 3x. First time, entree came, no sour cream, guacamole, pico. I overlooked it. 2nd time, I called them, they apologize but I went back and got it. 3rd time, they forgot again, on my order and my wife's also. It's Fajitas, not rocket science. The person said I could come pick up the condiments, but when I asked if they expect me to keep driving back for their mistakes she responded, I don't know what else to do. With post pandemic prices and price of gas this is just wrong. My next order I'm going to leave off the last part of my credit card number and have them drive to my house for it. read more

We arrived in Shelton and before going shopping for food for the weekend we thought we had better eat first to avoid throwing everything in our shopping cart. I had been here previously and found it to be tasty so I thought I would introduce the guy to the local Mexican food restaurant. When I first mentioned Mexican food he said you mean the Taco Bell? I said no. This is much tastier. He selected the Carne Asada, he said the mark of a true good Mexican restaurant is their Carne Asada. This one was very tasty. The plate was huge. I know I would have had to have a take out box. I had the chicken fajita salad which was very tasty. It was spicy chicken on a bed of lettuce with some olives and tomatoes. It was served with some ranch but I also like to put salsa on these types of things. It was very filling and I would recommend it. The chips and salsa were good. The salsa was a bit runny but I could live with that. The service was fast and I think we were in and out of the restaurant in record time. I'll definitely come back again. read more

I wish i would have spent my money wiser. I went to have dinner and drinks with my sister, our original waitress was younger and sweet. She showed us to our seats and handed us off to an additional waiter. He was very uninviting, and was rushing us the entire time. He brought us our check well before we were ready to pay or leave the establishment. Instead of asking us if he wanted something before he closer out his till he stayed staring at us and making unpolite noises. in addition he sent another staff member to tell us to hurry up that they wanted to go home a half an hour before they're listed closing time. we like to support local and this has me re thinking this restaurant as part of our rotation. read more

I wanted to write a small review of our experience at the Cantina last night. Stopped in for drinks and snacks. There were four of us. There was no help for 20 minutes. Finally we ordered some drinks which we didn't get. We also ordered food. We got the food very quick And the food was fairly good. Nachos were great! Nobody brought us silverware, napkins or plates till later. Actually I got my own plate. We then asked for our drinks again and they didn't come and they didn't come and they didn't come and then our food was gone, and the jalapeños are hot on my mouth, but there was no drink. Then I went up to ask our waitress for our drinks as she was hugging other guests, and helping them out. She came back with her two drinks, but forgot the fourth drink, which we got after our plates were completely empty. We waited while my client sipped on his cocktail by himself as we sat there. Needless to say, nobody was happy and it was about the worst experience I've had in a while. I eat out daily and I take clients all over Washington state. I am making it a point in the future to start writing reviews and perhaps start a website on the services and food places around the Pacific Northwest. The experience I had here was one of the worst. I don't like that the waitresses looked sad and unhappy. I wondered if it's a bad place to work. I thought maybe they need some training on customer service skills. If you're looking for a non- alcoholic beer to purchase this is not your establishment. I was working and that was my only option. For reference we arrived around 7 PM just about when the band was starting it wasn't overly busy but only one wait staff on the floor.
