Came here on a stormy night and got the Birria pizza, chicken tamale, and champurrado. YUM He gave us a little buzzer to alert us when the food was done so I could sit in my car to wait so we weren't out in the storm which was convenient. Pizza came with yummy consume. Overpriced. Hidden fees. Average food. I usually eat from taco trucks in Puyallup and near Sumner. The prices here at the taco truck by the market compared to trucks in those other two general areas are outrageous! $18 for "birratacos". $7 for sodas (like, a single standard sized orange Fanta in a glass bottle). Still, despite the sticker shock, I decided to play an order and give the place the benefit of the doubt. I paid with a debit card. There's a sign on the taco truck itself that says MasterCard/Visa/etc. cards are accepted. The cashier asked me if I had any cash. I said no. He ran my card but charged me another dollar for the card transaction, I guess. There was no sign posted on or around the front window warning potential customers about this charge. Then, of course, they had me sign a receipt with the option of providing a tip. For the record, I still tipped - not entirely sure for what other than getting nickel and dimed. When my order was ready, he asked if I wanted salsa. I asked politely for green. He gave me one small plastic container. The guest prior received at least three. The food itself was fine. Somewhat soggy and the presentation was apathetic at best, but the flavor was average. Definitely NOT worth the premium price. I can only assume the chainlink fence that surrounds the taco truck is to prevent angry and gypped previous customers from seeking retaliation after closing. I'm kidding, but barely. In review, the prices are exorbitant, the hidden fees are uncomfortable, the service is inconsistent at best, and the food itself is just average. Bring lots of cash if you have more than one person, they must have moved here from Seattle to charge 19.99 for a standard torta. From other reviews it looks like they doubled prices since last year (the menu on the side of the truck has sharpie-edited prices now). If you want a standard torta and fries and a drink you're looking at $30+. For that price I can go to any Mexican restaurant in Shelton cheaper and I don't have to stand in a parking lot waiting for the food. They did have a special on the Oaxaquena Torta for $13.95, with fries was $21+. Crazy. The torta was good and seemed fresh, but wasn't anything spectacular for the prices. There was a reasonable amount of meat, but it didn't seem to have much seasoning. Fries are your standard Safeway frozen crinkle cut fries...for 7 bucks. You can get a good torta for $6.99 at the Shell gas station on 1st. Then I got handed my food and they forgot the fries...there was only one other guy there the whole time that arrived after me and they forgot I ordered fries. Then I paid and they didn't notice I was supposed to get change. With the prices and those things that happened, I was amused they had a tip jar. That jar must be dusty. My suggestion: Reduce prices and have some reasonably priced lunch combos. The torta was a good size and lots of fries on my order, but that's way too much food for lunch. A smaller lunch combo for 8-10 bucks is the sweet spot. The only option here if you want a burrito or torta and a drink is $20-30. I can't afford to go back with those prices. Either they aren't getting enough business or they're trying to pay off some huge debt quick. Raising prices out the roof isn't going to help get business. read more

Very overpriced mexican food truck food. 9.99 for a burrito. Food is pretty good but again, overpriced. We would stop again in a pinch but won't see this food truck out simply for the price of the food. No other food truck I have been to charges this much for simple mexican food. read more

We've had tacos in Mexico City, Jalisco state, Sonora state, Mérida, Sayulita, and up and down the West coast of the US, including: LA, San Diego, San Francisco, Portland, and Seattle. WE LOVE TACOS!! We were on a road trip out to Pacific County beaches and saw this stand in Shelton, WA. We pulled in with zero expectations and were left surprised at how good the tacos were. We were three people and each had tacos carnitas without onion. The cilantro was fresh, the pork was exceptionally tasty and the tortillas were way above par. Our plates also included pickled carrots, radish, and grilled onions that were excellent. Their horchata was also much better than usual. A lot of taste and a lot of value here. Highly recommended, but plan on 100% take-away (at least during C-19 times) as there were no tables of any sort to sit at. We staged off of the hood of our car... No shame. read more

Two other people had placed their orders ahead of me so when I ordered the carne asada dinner, the guy tells me it'll be 5 minutes. 20 minutes later, after completing orders that were placed after me, he tries to give me carne asada fries. I told him no, I ordered the dinner. 5 minutes later and a couple more people getting their orders ahead of me, I finally get my order. Had to hurry back for work and when I open my order, no knife to cut the steak! The meat itself was tough and had no taste! The refried beans were terrible but the rice was ok. Nothing had seasoning. Best Taco Truck I've ever had the pleasure of visiting! I lived in San Diego for years and visited so many corner taco stands and taco trucks I've had my fair share of good stuff and bad stuff. This is nothin' but the good stuff!! I had the Carnitas Torta and it was absolutely loaded for $6.00! I think there was an entire creamy soft flavorful avocado on there! Tender carnitas packed with just enough flavor, beans, cheese, lettuce, jalapenos, you name it, it was on there! The grilled bread added a wonderful crispy texture that had me taking bite after bite, long after I was full! The California Burrito is huge! I didn't try it but the guy who had it said it was amazing and it looked amazing! The Street Tacos had plenty of meat filling and good flavor and were presented very fresh and pretty. The cook checked on us part way through our lunch which was a nice touch. There were no other visitors to the truck so we got our food relatively quickly. It's all cooked to order so it's not ready in an instant but it didn't take but a minute or two to have all three orders hot and fresh in our hands. There's a covered area to sit so you don't have to stand and eat or take it on the run. The bikini clad barristas across the parking lot provide for some entertainment and the dog won't bother anybody unless maybe provoked! Can't wait to pass this way again! read more

Yes, I am from SoCal, where Mexican food abounds! I am born, raised and still reside in SoCal; so don't worry about more transplants coming your way, as it's a great place to visit and spend money. 20 years ago the only place that dished out quality Mexican food in that region was a hole in the wall I found in Hoakium (don't know if it still exists). But, the Mexicans have migrated north in large quantities so it was only a matter of time before the quality of the Mexican food moved upwards. This was the place for me, when needing a fix on my last visit. Funny how my brethren from town hit the local Alberto's when down here on a near daily basis! LMAO. I pigged out on a variety of street tacos and enjoyed every one of them. The salsa was also good to go! I am a fan of this place and it almost gets the full 5 star rating, but people toss 5 and 1 star ratings around like candy... Funny how a "progressive" State such as Washington allows for quasi-permanently parked roach coaches to flourish up there! Now, I by no means am a California leftist (there are very few of us natives left that don't tote the prevailing party line). I am all for allowing businesses to flourish, with as little regulation as possible, but am just surprised - as my home State shuts down the little man all the time around here (or makes it so costly they just give up). So, keep up the "good work" (on this aspect) Washingtonians! Oh, and don't be so "intolerant" - I'd still have a taco (or beer) with you even though we may bat from the opposite sides of the plate. ;-) read more

Delicious tacos, friendly people. I stopped here on my way back to Olympia from a hike in the Olympics. I recently moved here from California, so I have eaten many a taco truck taco. I was a little disappointed that they didn't serve any Oaxacan food, and also they were out of tamales, but the tacos did not disappointed. The al pastor were especially tasty. This is a taco trailer up the hill above town on the way to 101. It's next to a collision business. I always stop here on the way back to Portland. It's open late and the food is authentic, good, and cheap. The carnitas on the tacos are always moist. They have built a covered area but if it's cold I still prefer to eat in my car. There's a portapotty there, but I haven't had the courage to enter. My guess would be to go to the bathroom somewhere else. read more

As I get closer I see to dudes standing in front of the truck, I ask them what did I get. "Get the California burrito," he said with the air confidence; he's a regular.
