Killing time before an event, my eyes spied the El Segundo Farmer's Market & knew I had to check it out. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select_video=hPQdvTUod3K10rBcvJci3w&userid=xsT4KZTu_KnOVavtuXn4RA Having the fortune of having Cerritos & Long Beach Farmer's Markets near me, I was underwhelmed with El Segundo's. There was 1 produce seller & 1 fruit seller (could've been the same business). Mainly hot food vendors, the customer options were meager, at best. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select_video=NgNIdtoPZxoMFKl7aHOShg&userid=xsT4KZTu_KnOVavtuXn4RA https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=s9KSYryGP7_LXW34MgOnQg&userid=xsT4KZTu_KnOVavtuXn4RA https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select_video=YQM3Yd-uiwcxQ3PRfpXGqg&userid=xsT4KZTu_KnOVavtuXn4RA Having a farmer's market is better than having no farmer's market. However, seeing El Segundo's made me appreciate my local farmer's markets, more. The El Segundo Farmer's Market is held every Thursday 3pm - 7pm. I hope more vendors can be secured to offer a wide range of options for customers looking to not spend money at the big box stores. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=rxTNH3SNDqGVmdIRUw_DCQ&userid=xsT4KZTu_KnOVavtuXn4RA

Very happy that El Segundo has a weekly Farmer's Market. Right in cozy downtown, in front of City Hall, the Police Station and the Fire Department, I'm not sure you could feel safer walking anywhere else. They block of a section of Main Street which allows families to roam freely and there's a courtyard area between City Hall and the Police Station with some grassy area and tables. It's a relatively small market with just a couple of booths with fresh vegetables, fruits, etc. But there are a number of freshly prepared food booths that should allow everyone in your group to find something they like. The twisted potato booth is always a hit with the kids and adults. There's a tamale booth, fresh Hawaiian chicken sandwich / plate booth, Japanese, baked goods and some shopping as well (clothes, jewelry, etc.). Many of the stores in El Segundo are still open and, if by some odd chance you can't find something you like to eat there, there are a number of restaurants within walking distance. Parking in downtown El Segundo is free some come on down on a Thursday and have some fun. Enjoy!!!

Poisonous popcorn here. My entire mouth went numb after eating it and I felt so sick. My kids said it tasted like hand sanitizer and my husband tried and had the same experience!!!

El Segundo's Farmers Market is every Thursday afternoon, from 3-7 pm and takes up the 400 block on Main Street in front of the Fire Department/Library/City Hall. There are stands that sell produce, prepared foods, and a few vendors who sell jewelry and clothes. You may not find everything you may want here, but there are enough options to supplement your groceries from the big chains, and the quality is far superior while the prices are usually about equal. My favorite peaches came from the seasonal Summer stand who only comes when their fruit is in season. Avocados are sold at several stands in varying sizes and varieties. Mom's Products sells spicy olives, hummus, marinated artichoke hearts, and spanikopita (spinach and feta pastry), offering increasing discounts as you purchase more. Gaytan Family Farm not only sells wonderful orange yolk eggs, but their produce includes some of the best heirloom tomatoes, unrivaled by any you can buy in a chain supermarket. I loved the harissa from the Parmigiano-Reggiano spread stand; I always keep some on hand to spice up anything that needs some zing, whether it's scrambled eggs or fish. The Chicken Guys sell parts or whole chickens for a great family take away option (there is also a Thai takeaway, tamale stand, pupusa stand, crepes, kettle corn, and swirling potato most weeks). If you are in the area, it's worth stopping by, especially since parking nearby is easy and free, and they even offer a shuttle so that you may leave your car at home!

Great Jerky! Tender, a bit moist and tasty.

This Farmer's Market is awesome. Has a ton of specialty items and best of all are all the vendors behind these great products. I love the bread guy's selection! I'm currently hooked on the Jalapeño Cheddar. The guy who sells the bread, Enrique, is a funny, cool dude and I look forward to purchasing my bread from his stand every week. I'm also a huge fan of the Hummus and Grape Leaves at the Mediterranean stand. He's got a ton of delicious varieties for the hummus. Current favorite is the Artichoke Spinach. He also has some good yogurt. Whenever I'm having a really late lunch I'll grab myself a grilled cheese from aunt Aunt Jean's or some beef tacos at the Pupusa spot. Pros: + Jalapeño Cheddar Bread + Hummus + Grape Leaves + Most vendors are friendly and just fun to buy from + Amazing products + Convenient spot for a late lunch or dinner Cons: - Some items are overpriced (I won't put you on blast. You know who you are ;p)

Very quaint little farmers market in one of my favorite little cities surrounded by the hub bub of the big city and planes. Who would have thought? I think I love this one better (I know it's tiny, but I love tiny) than the one in Downtown (Little Tokyo to be exact). They have pretty much the same stuff as the others and also entertainment. Prices aren't too bad from about the average to a little more cheaper. I love the fresh baked bread (whole wheat w/oats or squaw). Salsa & chips were yummy too! Vendors are so friendly and informative. Parking allover and it's got that small sleepy town feel to it. Enjoy!

    Barrels of plums!

This is a very small farmer's market (one block long) but I really like it for the following reasons: - It's a late market.. 3pm-7pm - Parking is free & ample in the adjacent residential streets - There are live acts that vary every week. Sometimes it's a solo guitarist and other times it's a clan of retired old guys singing their hearts out to The Beatles/Eagles/Dylan/other-old-rock&roll covers. - The hummus stand closest to Main St is my favorite. Their feta is miraculous as is their Chipotle flavored hummus and pita bread. Also, they are tremendously generous with their samples. - The guy with every variety of plum you can imagine. Their samples are self-serve and unlimited. - The Mexican husband and wife team that are known for their fresh honey and grapes! They are very sweet people and I especially enjoy being able to practice my Spanish with them although their English is top-notch. I'm a fan of farmer's markets, period, but I like this one because I feel personally connected to all of my favorite stands. The fact that this farmer's market is small and not terribly crowded allows the farmer's to spend more time interacting with their customers. In this way you get to know each-other and you get to know more about what you're buying which together creates a sense of community. Oh! And remember to bring your reusable bags! :)

Perfect little farmer's market that operates every Thursday from 3 to 7pm in Downtown El Segundo on the 400 block of Main Street. It was all happenstance the way my boyfriend and I stopped by because Two Guns Kitchen, where we went for coffee that lovely afternoon, was smack dab in the middle of this market. Dead giveaway was seeing this random woman carrying kettle popcorn in the parking lot out back! I coveted that popcorn but we had to practice a bit of self-control since my boyfriend made dinner reservations for us in Manhattan Beach. Compared to other farmer's markets I've visited, this one is quite small. There's a salsa stand that offered chip and salsa samples and we ended up buying a jar of medium green salsa. Absolutely delish. There's a flower stand as well and it had the most vibrant sunflowers for less than $5 per bunch. Such a deal! Other stands at this market include a pupusas stand, fruits and veggies, tacos, bread/pastries, kettle corn, pickles, hummus/grains, etc. Quite a lively farmer's market despite its tiny size actually; there was music blasting and kids were dancing around and singing kids karaoke at one stand as well. Summer break, must be nice. Overall, I'd say it's worth checking out if you live in the area.

Ask the Community - El Segundo Farmer's Market

Is there a booth that sells fresh honey?

Is this farmers market still open and active?

I'm glad to say it is open. Every Thursday. Not as many vendors as before but the numbers are slowly increasing. Posted in April 2022. Hope your favorite vendors are there. Enjoy!

Can anyone tell me the name of the vendor who sells the Roasted Peanuts?

It was empty and less people. There's a pay parking meter, and the minimum is $2 for just 30 minutes so right from the start, it felt a bit off. Once I parked, I walked through, and the market itself was really tiny: probably about 20 to 30 vendors in total. You can walk the whole thing in less than five minutes, and the variety was really limited. For example, there was only one vendor selling berries, and the food options were scarce and just didn't look appetizing. The prices were high for what little you got. I probably won't be coming back, maybe I just missed something, but it didn't live up to the hype. On the bright side, there was live music, which was really nice, and the neighborhood felt safe with police presence, plus they did have restrooms available. But overall, it just didn't have that special charm I was hoping for.

Vendors were selling items like uni (sea urchin), loose-leaf tea, empanadas, onigiri, kombucha, $3 drip coffee from Haya Coffee, kettle corn, tamales, muffins, etc. [Conclusion]: This is one of the farmers markets that targets local residents and it is not a market to go out of your way to visit.

It only occupies a portion of the lot, so one can still park in the lot to minimize the distance for easy in/out. Currently it runs in the morning on Thursday, stopping around 1 pm, so good for a lunch stop. It DOES have a marvelous view of the ocean. There are two areas: the biggest one in the parking lot, and a smaller one on the George Freeth Way road (where we usually park our car in angled metered spots on non-farmer market days, of course). I would say it fits into the medium/small size farmer's market in LA (with Santa Monica being large and Marina del Rey being towards the smaller), with the typical produce like organic eggs and fruits (strawberries). The vendors seemed to specialize in one or two types of sales. It wasn't crowded at all, and there was opportunity to talk to the vendors without feeling like you were holding others up. There are plenty of variety of prepared food as well, with one of the bigger stands selling freshly popped kettle corn (with free samples!).

It is not too far from the pier itself & there's plenty of parking, some are metered, some by the Elks Lodge us free on fmr mkts days only. If you coming from the parking lot you'll encounter the fresh food areas first (tamales, pupusas, coffee, baked hoods, teas, pastas, fresh fish). Today there was a lady playing her guitar by the fresh flowers & another lady playing her violin towards the area of the fresh produce (near plants/seedlings vendor). Usually I rarely try coffee at fmr mkts but one vendor caught my eye & it was $2.50 for brewed coffee (pour overs aren't my faves). I was pleasantly surprised. It was an Ethiopian medium-dark blend & it full bodied. robust, it was really goo! i liked it so much I returned & was happy to know that refills are $1 (thought I'd pay another $2.50, score!). The vendor was very nice ' we inquired what other mkts he features his coffee. He saud he goes to Torrance as well but only sells. beans there, no brewed coffee. Darn! One other vendor that's new was selling plant based crackers, hummus, & pasta sauces. Out of curiosity I tried some, liked the hummus & purchased dome along with the crackers. Okay, it didn't occur to me to ask until it's paid for how much it was, it was $14, which I think is a bit pricey. Thank goodness I tried it first but perhaps next time I'll ask for the cost & weigh in whether I should get it or not. Hubby had to get the specialty kettle popcorn, it was $8 and it's very addicting. It was so good, he finished the whole bag. Well worth it for the biggest little kid in him. I did try em, oh so good! I had to stay away from it. It's a very nice day at the beach, we strolled along & enjoyed the views while we checked out what being sold at this market. Definitely recommend this place, it's here every Thursday, 8 am until 1 pm.
