I was craving a breakfast burrito after my run at Manhattan Beach like one does. This Phanny's location is located in a plaza with a few other stores around it. It does look fairly new based on the inside of the store. I was looking on Yelp for high rated breakfast burritos near me and this is how I stumbled across Phannys. I arrived 30 minutes before they closed and the guy at the front was welcoming when I first walked in. I did notice he was the only employee but it was no worries since I was the only one in the place. I got the breakfast burrito with one protein, I got bacon. They are reasonably priced at $12-$15, depending on the protein you choose. I saw the guy make it fresh for me right after taking my order. Took around 7-8 mins to be done. My boyfriend and I ate our burritos outside at one of the benches. They were HOT, right off the grill. The tortilla is really great, nice and soft however, a nice grill on the outside would have been nice. They are good solid burritos but nothing particularly special. I wish the hash browns were a bit crispier and the house salsa had more pizazz to it. But it was regular ol' salsa. My boyfriend really liked their saying "in burritos we trust" and their little logo of the burrito. They had shirts for sale and we asked about it. My boyfriend would have definitely bought one if they had one in his size but they were sold out :( I would come back to Phannys if I'm in the area looking for a good burrito and for the shirt. I was on the search for breakfast or lunch while in El Segundo, and I saw positive reviews for the Phanny's located in Redondo Beach. However, the weather was decidedly not beach-friendly on that rainy winter morning, and I just happened to find this other Phanny's location near to Offset Coffee Roasters. The ambiance is definitely suited for to-go orders: there is not a lot of seating on site, and the restaurant has a sterile and primarily white design. However, the staff person who took my order was friendly, and my order was ready promptly. I'm a fan of Chori-Man's chorizo, so I was excited to try it in the burrito. Yet, I found the burrito to be pretty mild in flavor (with the caveat that I ordered it without cheese). There was not a component that truly stood out except for the crispy hash browns, and I was expecting a meal that would be more memorable. read more

Was on my way to pick up some family from LAX and was craving a breakfast burrito. Phannys did not disappoint, however I wish they were a little more affordable for what I got. (I feel like I have higher burrito standards though since I'm from San Diego) I got the Carne Asada burrito and the veggie burrito for my mom. Both were really delicious. IMO, it's not your traditional Mexican breakfast burrito, it's more of a modern spin on it, using ingredients like hash browns etc. I actually prefer breakfast burritos this way. I honestly wish there was just more filling in the burrito, esp since it was $31 for both burritos after taxes. But I guess me wishing there was more filling is indicative of the fact that I really enjoyed it and am just wanting more, lol I ate it on the road so IDK about service (ordered on the phone as well). Tried this fan fave and wanted to see what the hype was about. Staff were welcoming. The space is small, has a few bar stools inside but there is plenty of seating outside. I picked a carne asada burrito with extra carne. The tortilla was fresh! Super soft, Chewy and delicious. The carne was a bit underwhelming as it lacked flavor and salt. And I preferred crispier hash browns. I was a bit disappointed because I expected more flavor components but it wasn't a nasty burrito. I definitely needed more salsa than the little one they provided so I will get extra next time. I paid $20 for the burrito and it was a decent size compared to other popular breakfast burritos. I have ordered several breakfast burritos from Phanny's and, today, I am a fan. My first experience was unpleasant, though, as I am NOT a fan of their tomato salsa-soup mixture that was rather cold and tasted oh so watery. This is a default ingredient, so be sure to mark NO TOMATO if you, too, are not into tomato salsa-soup in your breakfast burrito. :) Otherwise, this place is simple, consistent and makes it easy to order online and come pickup. The interior is cozy with some seating. Phanny's is in a plaza near Offset Coffee, another personal fave and the other half of a dream breakfast. There are multiple locations, so make sure you're ordering from the El Segundo one and not the Redondo Beach location. Prices are reasonable, portions are decent, staff are efficient, and parking is readily available - all wonderful things in LA. Plenty of meat in the burritos, too. read more

Underwhelmed. Driving towards Manhattan Beach on Sepulveda, I noticed a bright neon breakfast burrito sign. Parked and saw it was the perfect compliment to a coffee shop next store. Dozens of customers had burritos and coffee in the outdoor seating area. Staff was friendly. Food was quick. Ingredients / Taste were average. I've been a long time fan of Phanny's in Redondo so I was excited to see a new and closer-to-me location in El Segundo. They are located in a small strip mall with Prime Pizza, Offset coffee, Blum, and El Pollo Inka. The inside of the place is small with only one table. There are some picnic tables outside but I think they belong to other businesses. I usually get the egg burrito and it always hits the spot. I've never tried their coffee but will do so next time I'm there. The egg burrito is 11.95 and packed full of egg, cheese, and taters. Service is quick and friendly. Having read positive reviews from the original location as well as this newer location, I was in the area and wanted to continue on my breakfast burrito journey. The space is minimal, menu is easy and clear, the staff was friendly enough, and the prices are pretty reasonable. The burrito itself again was just decent. The tortilla was toasted but it could have been a little further as it still had the cold doughy taste. Pretty standard bacon, sausage, and eggs with minimal cheese. My biggest issue was that the hasbrowns weren't crispy enough and the overly wet salsa made things worse. I ate it on the tables outside so it didn't really sit for a while to be that mushy that quickly. Overall, nothing unique or distinct over any other greasy spoon or something you can make at home. We frequent the original RB location and were super excited for this location to open. We usually get an egg burrito and asada burrito but have been disappointed by the quality control here. It was good when they first opened but the past few months it hasn't been the same. The last time we were here the hash browns were over salted and the burritos were folded terribly. The tortilla folds were thick and doughy and towards the bottom it'd get soggy from the runny salsa. Nobody wants bite after bite of cold, doughy tortilla when eating a burrito. I've been back a number of times in hopes the quality will match that of their Redondo location but continue to be disappointed. I decided to try Phanny's breakfast burritos after my husband was raving about it. My go to is a sausage burrito from Bread & Butter (a few blocks away) so my standards were high. First impression: cute spot, definitely meant more for to-go orders. Simple menu which is nice and straight to the point. The burrito was good! However, the salsa is pretty meh and mild. I like it a bit spicy. Also, I felt like the hashbrowns could've been crispy and the tortilla could've been toasted a bit more on the grill. But I guess that's just me being extra. Phanny's is the breakfast burrito plug--straight up. My 3-meat combo was so good I considered proposing to it. Prices are fair (especially for coastal California where an avocado alone might cost you a car payment), parking was surprisingly easy, and the kids working there were friendly and efficient--like if In-N-Out had a breakfast burrito cousin. Now, full disclosure: the decor is... nonexistent. It's giving "break room at a DMV." You're not here for ambiance, you're here to get fed and get happy. New location in El Segundo! So far so, so good. Decor is still simple, not too many tables. Parking lot is always a bonus! I didn't wait long to be helped since no one else was waiting. I was a bit surprised since the Redondo Beach location is always busy, then again it literally just opened. It has been awhile since I've been to the RB location, but glad this location finally has regular chorizo as an option for their breakfast burritos! Not sure if they will offer coffee here since there's a well established coffee spot right next door. After being a long time fan of Phanny's, we had to visit their new location in El Segundo on their first week of opening. This may just be our new go to breakfast burrito spot. As much as we like the original location, the ES location is much easier to get to for us. Their breakfast burrito never disappoints (outside of the size shrinking a bit from when we first had Phanny's). The hash brown was crispy and gave the burrito a nice crunch. The bacon and sausage is a good mix and not overly salty. The tortilla isn't too thick or too thin. It really hits the spot when I'm craving a breakfast burrito. The location is well lit, with an open feel, and clean with simple decor. There's probably about 5-6 chairs and a bit of room to sit. However, most people seemed to be going in and out for take out. The workers are friendly and offered us extra salsa and checked in whether the burritos were good. Overall, I'm excited to see this location pop up so close to work and it's also convenient to get to via the 405 with a good size parking lot. read more

Was really disappointed with my Carne Asada Breakfast Burrito after seeing some promising reviews. The "carne asada" is some ambiguous taco meat (and tastes like it), egg is so overcooked it is brown on the outside. Overall it was fairly under filled especially for the price. The amount of leftover tortilla in this $16 burrito is almost criminal! I would feel bad rolling this sad burrito up knowing how much it would suck, but maybe that's just me. I can't remember the last breakfast burrito I've had where I was still this hungry afterwards; being filling is part of what a breakfast burrito is.
