Love the aesthetic and the workers are nice, but parking is difficult to find as there's only 1 designated spot in the lot. Otherwise will need to find and get lucky street parking. The speciality matcha drink I got wasn't good, and the lack of AC is probably the worst part. Very muggy and stuffy and unless you sat right by the fans/portable AC unit they had, would start sweating. Had to step outside because it was cooler than indoors. Great cafe for studying and industrial decor/ambiance. Parking is a gamble but super easy in the morning - they have 3 spots in the lot and it's on a long/wide street. Breakfast Sandwiches are delicious - highly recommend the Sausage Sunrise Sandwich :) Drinks are also good. My cousin likes the matcha but I'm more of a fan of their coffee. I was in town pretty briefly, but definitely made it a point to stop here for the Espresso Du' Sal (multiple times!) I highly recommend, the fresh house espresso over the whipped sweet cream and little bit of black salt on the top is a winning combination, and one I will keep thinking about fondly. Great service and knowledgeable staff. Parking can be a bit tricky, since the area is bustling, but nothing that can't be figured out. Their coffee is worth it! read more

I'm surprised it took me this long to get to Smoky Hollow Roasters in El Segundo. Great little spot in El Segundo off ES Blvd and Sierra. I wish I took some photos but the place was pretty full for 15 minutes to closing on a Sunday. Lots of comfy seating, tables and chairs. There is even a few tables outside in the parking lot. They serve all the espresso drinks and more. There is also a small pastries case, but I recommend you grab those at the beginning of the day. I purchased the 2nd to the last croissant and I knew it wasn't going to be as fresh as it could be. The barista who took my order was friendly. It was his 2nd day working at SH, but he knew what he was doing! I had a regualr hot latte with regular milk. When walking out the door after couple of sips, this tasted awesome! I went back in and asked the barista if he knew the beans they used today, but he didn't know.We both looked at the selection of beans left on the shelf and I went with the Papua New Guinea single origin beans as I'm also a home barista and love trying out new beans! I would give SH a 5 star rating, but they have a parking issue in front. They only have 2 spots available. You then have to locate parking on Sierra. Great coffee shop tucked away in an industrial area. It can get a little full but it's a good place to get some work done over the weekend. One of the few places that offers large cold brews (usually places only offer a 16oz option) which I appreciate because I drink a lot of coffee I didnt get to review the shop on my first visit but during that visit I was able to see the guy roasting the beans on the machine they have inside the shop, packaging up the beans, and placing them on the shelves which was pretty cool read more

I get my lattes half sweet because I want to taste the bold flavor of Espresso. But after taking a sip of my latte, I realized that it tastes watered down coffee. Dropped in here for some coffee after a workout with friends at nearby at Rising Waves gym. Great spot with a cool vibe. I could see myself hanging out here longer if I wasn't so sweaty. Wanted to try the whiskey cold brew but they had run out. So I opted for the maple syrup latte and it was delicious. The staff was really friendly and worked fast considering we were a fairly large group ordering. I'm not a local but I will definitely come back next time I'm in the area. I also asked for a cup of hot water and the barista asked if I wanted a lemon in it :) There's only TWO parking spots in their lot in front but a lot of street parking that should be easy to find. One of the two parking spots is marked as compact. There were a lot of people in the coffee shop around noon on a weekday! Just a few tables, but more lounge chairs. Visiting Smoky Hollow has been self-debate on my head given the polarized reviews I read about the place. Hard to find parking, unpleasant service, so-so taste, name it. But in contrary, some people highly recommended it and spoke great stuffs about it. Proving it myself, the dedicated parking spots were indeed limited, but plenty of street parking available and only required very short walk. The space was pretty huge and uniquely designed in vintage vibes with a clear emphasis on it being a coffee roaster. Plenty of desks were provided, making it very accommodative as a working space. The place was quite busy throughout the day, but I witnessed myself that the baristas were pretty swift in getting all the orders ready, shooing away all the negative critics. They offered light bites for the drink companion, for which my pick was Matcha Pistachio croissant. Despite being quite disappointed that it didn't have any filling while I was expecting pistachio paste, it surprisingly tasted pretty decent with flaky and buttery pastry base. The matcha icing on top added extra pleasure to enjoy surely. I went for their fall special, Maple Latte, which came with Pure Maple syrup. If you're in the boat who preferred your cup of joe to come in gigantic size, you would love that they had 20oz size available. It was surely great coffee with strong aroma and flavor, but I would prefer the maple syrup to be toned down a bit as it's tad too sweet. I could see myself coming back given the convenience and good quality coffee; probably next trying something more basic instead of syrupy ones. read more

My only complaint about this place is the parking situation. There's only two parking spots specifically for this place in their already small parking lot and street parking is a bit of a challenge. Lots of old furniture and appliances, but it gave a little homey feel. They've got all the usual drinks on their menu and had tons of pastries out on display. What stood out to me was one of their summer drinks - banana cream cold brew. I ordered that and it was nice that it actually had puree'd bananas in it. I was expecting it to be sweeter, but it was still a good drink overall. My girlfriend made the mistake of ordering an iced green tea latte with oat milk, when she meant a matcha latte. We were a bit confused when the barista asked us what tea she wanted and she warned us it would take a bit to steep. The barista ended up picking some pomegranate green tea for her latte, which she didn't enjoy, but it reminded me of skittles when I tried it. We also ordered pull apart monkey bread, but I was kinda bummed when they didn't offer to warm it up. Though there are usually many customers, there has always been room to find. I am mainly a hot black coffee guy (with the extremely rare choice of hot tea, a cortado, or maybe a latte) and it is always a good drink. The baristas and coffee roasters are good. Even after moving out of El Segundo, I would rather take that 25 minute-drive to Smoky Hollows than stop at the several other coffeehouses I pass on my way. Those just do not hold up.
