Really great hidden gem, with a lovely dining area and a cute outdoor patio. We showed up just before 8 on a Tuesday evening, and despite them not being very busy and closing at 9 the staff was EXTREMELY personable and attentive to us and we had a great meal! My girlfriend had the taco dinner, and I had the tampiquena, both were cooked and prepared perfectly. The margarita pitcher was good too and not simply about the alcohol. Wanted to buy a gift card for a birthday gift. So thought what better time to try it. So we ordered a burrito and a pork taco. We were greats and advised to pick where we wanted to sit. They came to the table with chips and salsa and took the drink order. Order it burritos out I swear it seem like five minutes only it was like the fastest restaurant ever been in. For sharing. The food here is excellent. I had the Alambra. The skirt steak was tenderized and done just right. The provolone peppers were cooked perfectly. The rice and beans were delicious. The service is friendly and excellent. The ambience is good but not amazing on the inside. They do have tables outside, which we will go back and use. It can get noisy from the road traffic and the train coming past on the outside across the street but it's outside, which is delightful. Elsinboro will be a regular stop for us in the summer. read more

I ordered a margarita that I wish had more tequila since it tasted more like mixer. The cicina tacos are great and not a staple on many Mexican restaurant menus. Food was pretty good. You can tell this is a great local family establishment. The only thing I didn't like is that we asked for more salsa, and she brought us more but charged us for it. We don't mind paying for more salsa... it would just be nice to know the second bowl was going to be a charge instead of being surprised when the bill came. They greet you right as you walk in, we come here often. There's a full bar, and seating inside and on a pleasant deck outside. Sports on TVs, of course. Carry outs welcome. While the menu is largely plate dinners and combos, you may order individual items ala carte if that's what you're in the mood for. Tacos, burritos, et al. Just ask. Used to love this place, but their prices have gone beyond reasonable based on the quality of food. I feel they are price gouging because they are the only Mexican place in FRG. I gave up on them when I was charged $34 for a pint of guacamole, a pint of salsa, and some chips. And the guacamole was bland so I doctored it up with a little lime, salt, and cilantro when I got it home. $14 for a burrito? $24 for carne asada? This is crazy, especially when you look at competitors' prices such as Cuco's Burrito express in Cary. Try Tacos El Norte in Lake Zurich! Better food and priced fairly. Taqueria Campos on 1st street in Cary is a hidden gem, which is 3 minutes up Rt 14 and worth saving money for great Mexican food. I'm sorry, but I'm just done feeling ripped off by El Sombrero every time I go there. I try to support FRG business whenever I can, but I finally have drawn the line. read more

The beer selection is good and margaritas are good too. The chips and especially the salsa is addictingly great and definitely one of the best salsa's I ever had! The quac looks really fresh and tastes great. I had a steak burrito that was the perfect size and tasted delicious! Friend had enchiladas with mole sauce and the mole sauce was really fantastic tasting! Wasn't the cheapest I've had but have to say the quality made it worth every penny.
