This is a very nice Mexican place in Mchenry. The combo platter I had on my first visit was good with the chicken tamale, taco and enchilada. Salsa is nicely balanced and not too spicy for me. But rest assured, they have other salsas that are hotter. The fried tilapia I had my second visit was just exactly what I was craving. Crispy fish with warm tortillas. Really good. I recently got a burrito from la Trinidad it was over priced and terrible I was very disappointed

Went for dinner with friends. We got there and there was a few big parties so the service was a little slow but no big deal. The staff was great and took care of us. And we were not in a rush. The food was much more flavorful this time. I have been a few times and thought I had reviewed in the past. I had fajitas they were on special. Very tasty with a nice flavor. The salsa was ok. The other people had tacos, burrito, and stark fajita I had the chicken. The only issue I had was the window was so cold and the draft coming in made it not comfortable to take my hoodie off. read more

Friendly place to get some authentic cultural food to fill your belly without emptying your wallet. The staff was friendly and they all helped each other. It did cause some confusion as we would ask one person for something and another person would come by and ask if we needed anything. The restaurant was clean and not too noisy. read more

Took a friend for her birthday last night! She ordered chicken fajitas and got a huge serving. Will have enough for another meal or two! Chips and salsa are good. I asked if they had desserts because it was her birthday and was told they only had fried ice cream. I wanted to surprise her with a dessert and said please bring her some when i get back to the table. A couple of minutes later he comes up with a sombrero for her to wear and had the whole restaurant sing happy birthday!! It was so nice!!! She was thrilled! The fried ice cream was huge and yummy-two of us eating it and there was still a bit left! I loved how he went out of the way to make her feel special! Great place! read more

Most definitely a "hole in the wall" kind of vibe- this place is in the back of a grocery store & has DELICIOUS FOOD! 2 booths and some stall seating, so not your typical restaurant... but if you're looking for GREAT Mexican food THIS IS IT. One of my most important marks in judging a Mexican restaurant is the margarita. La Trinidad certainly did not disappoint! I ordered three tacos: Prime rib steak, fish, and shrimp. They make their own tortillas fresh, which, I will tell you, makes a huge difference! For a nominal extra charge, I added, chopped onions and cilantro as a topping for my tacos. Adding on a side order of pico de Gallo with sour cream was the crowning glory to my meal! They were phenomenal! Went for Birthday party, and had the Steak fajitas with flour shell . So good ! Served piping hot and meat was tender & tasty ! Juan our waiter was spot on, was almost like cruise ship service. Juan brought out Sombrero for lady friend, and Cowboy hat for me, since it was both our birthdays . Juan had the whole restaurant sing happy birthday to us ! Was totally ignored! The waitress gave us our food first before the other customers. She went and asked them how their meal was and if they needed a box to go! She had the busser ask us if we wanted a box. Cleaned off the table, not even asked if we wanted dessert. Came back again (the busser) and asked if we are waiting for the check. I said yes, I wanted dessert but the way we were treated us.. Maybe if we were white like the other customers, WE would have been treat better. These workers were trash, and all the owner can response is "what the problem" and wasn't able to respond back to their question! So if your looking for a restaurant to dine at there are plenty of other great places to go to!!! read more

Went for the first time with the family at my suggestion. Hubby doesn't like hot/spicy food. The waitress said that they could make his burrito more mild and put the salsa on the side. My hubby was very happy with his meal and enjoyed it. Very pleasant staff. Our waitress was very happy, smiling and even singing to some of the music playing. You could tell she loved her job. Our food was amazing and the price was even better! My children loved the tacos, they weren't spicy and they loved that nachos were at our table while we waited for our food. Hubby and I enjoyed delicious margaritas. I took my girlfriends there last week for a luncheon. They loved their meals, my one friend loved the variety of the menu and was impressed that they had shrimp soup. She thought the food was amazing and my girlfriends all agreed.
