I stop here to eat anytime I visit Lewiston. Their food, cleanliness, and friendly service never disappoints.

Ate dinner which was ok but not fantastic. The waitress brought the bill. I noticed that she had only charged us for 1 entree, so I called her back to bring it to her attention. She took the slip back and told me that charge was cancelled and corrected the bill. I get home and found my account had been charged for the 1st charge and the then again for the whole amount. I have called them twice and the second time they did not return my call. Will never go back there again. read more

Yum! Have you ever eaten at a restaurant and days later you're fantasizing about your meal? This was that place. Hubby and I were on a four day trip to get in some golf and were hankering for some Mexican food. Of course we went directly to Yelp who steered us to this place and it did not disappoint. First off, the chips were fresh and the salsa had just enough heat. There were plenty of onions and cilantro in it, not just tomatoes. We both ordered the two item small combo which wasn't small at all. We had a taco, enchilada, rice and beans. The rice and beans were to die for!!! My taco started falling apart so I ate it with a fork and I couldn't care less about having to do that. It was SO good! My ground beef enchilada was super yummy. Hubby and I both cleaned our plates. If licking them was an option, we would have!!! We are heading home to Coeur d' Alene but I will be dreaming about this meal for weeks to come!!!! read more

Their chips & salsa are good, refillable of course. Took me awhile to decide what should I eat. At the end, I ordered their seafood chimichanga and my friend got their chicken chimichanga. We got our food freaky fast like it was pre-made or something. We were too hungry to care about that or even thought about it. I love my seafood chimichanga yellow sauce. It have a refreshing taste to it. I don't know what it is but it taste delicious! There were plenty of shrimp, scallop, and intimated crab meat on the burrito which is a plus. Get chips and salsa while waiting for main meal. Chips are warm when served and salsa is OK. Ordered the Pancho Villa, was stated on menu as best dish in town. Rice and beans were good. The skirt steak and chicken was OK. Was cooked uneven, the thin side on steak and chicken was over cooked and thick side was under cooked. I've never been so disappointed in a place in my life. My children took me to dinner here and the waitress was so rude it was unbelievable. The waitress' tone of voice was nasty and she was rude the whole time we were there. She actually grabbed the plate out of my hand as I was putting my leftovers in my box. My daughter seems to think it was because she asked it they had any specials, which would be ridiculous. It's sad because my family has been going there since I was a young adult and I'm 59. I took my Mom there several times last year before she passed. I'm not happy with my son for leaving her a tip. If it had been up to me I wouldn't have given her anything. 5/22/24 dinner around 6pm. My advice to the owner/ manager would be to get rid of this woman as I spoke with a friend of mine and they had the same experience with this woman. As usual the place was clean as always. read more

I was stuck in this town over the weekend. Came to this place twice. I certainly hope for the sake of the people who unfortunately live in this town that there is a better Mexican place than this one. 1st time I ordered the seafood burrito. They could have cut the amount of red sauce it still would have been way too much. Couldn't taste anything but the shrimp. Just a major gooey mess. 2nd time I had the large nachos. Way too much sour cream, guacamole, melted cheese and what not. Just a handful of chips stuck underneath all the slop that they were limp by the time the plate got to me. Once again just a major gooey mess. Also both times the waiter took awful long to come around the table. I mean, it's not like they were that busy he couldn't do his job in a timely manner. Another problem is their menu says they have horchata, but they don't. Boo!! If I have the misfortune of having to come to this town again I'll definitely look for a different Mexican place. This is an el Sombrero. If you've ever been to one, you pretty much know what you're getting into here. The place had a small crowd on a Tuesday night, but service was a little slow. The food overall and the decor are an el Sombrero! No, seriously, this is a chain restaurant and once I was inside I could have been inside any of them -- which is a really good thing when you know a restaurant and know what you want! I ordered a burrito on the phone. Beans, rice, cheese, cilantro and extra sour cream- thats it. The lady seemed confused but read it back to me. I also asked for no sauce on it but sauce on the side. I picked up my food and drove home. The burrito had a tortilla, with rice, cheese and cilantro. Basically a rice burrito. It is very hard to eat a rice burrito. It also cost $13.50! NEVER AGAIN! I can't rave enough about the staff at El Sombrero! They're so kind, courteous, hard working, attentive, and most importantly, friendly! When I go in I request Nelly to be my waitress because she is the kindest most amazing and personable waitress I have ever met! The staff at El Sombrero are always wonderful but this girl really sticks out! She makes the place a joyful and fun place to go when you're not in the mood to cook. I met Nelly while job coaching a special needs gal that happenes to be employed at El Sombrero as the silverware roller. Nelly's sweet disposition and kind heart towards my participant, is immediately what drew me towards her. Ever since, I have made it a point to go when I can because all the staff are very much like my dear friend. I found that they have the best carne asada, using very good skirt steak, and grilling it perfectly. Some of the best I've had. They also make one of the most awesome chili rellenos ever. Tortilla Soup was literally boiled chicken with hot water poured over it. Of course strips of chips that menu said 'fried tortilla strips' but were definitely not fried they were baked chips in strips. No spice no salt nothing in soup except hot water and chicken and chips. I could not eat it after three spoons. Wife offered me to try her enchilada and rice, rice very good but enchilada con pollo identical to soup, very very bland. Thought we might be in a Norwegian restaurant by mistake. At first when I sat down I thought this place was spendy but after I ate the delicious food I thought if I could give this place 10 stars I would. My 3 most recommended things on their menu is ... #1 Chile Verde #2 Chile Colorado #3 Chicken Enchiladas ask for "Spicy" All of these dishes tasted like they had 3 or 4 more steps to perfection than other places do. I have lived in Florida for over a year and have not found nothing that can even compete with this place. We each had combo plates so we could try a variety. Ground beef enchiladas, refried beans, and rice 4/5; tomale, taco and tostado 3/5, chips and salsa ...chips good, salsa sweet and no bite at all 1/5. This is pretty typical Mexican restaurant fare. You get the same stuff served like at the other Mexican restaurant across town. The service is always good, fast & friendly though. Our domestic restaurateurs can learn a thing or two from the Mexican business model when it comes to the service part. The place seems run down though. Your first impression is of the dirty parking lot & the broken concrete parking things. The inside is about the same, a bit dirty & old. The lunch specials are always tasty, fast & cheap.
