Steak con rajas. (Beef fajita, pepper, onions, bacon and cheese) so good!
    Terrell B.

Been wanting to try this place for a while. Went in on a weekday around noon. Staff was friendly and it was pretty clean- except for the bathroom door edges that were brownish black from handling. Chips were good. Salsa had great flavor but was very watery and didn't want to stay on chips. I get trying to stretch a dollar but this was really thin. I got the flautas con polio. The description did not mention rice and beans but the picture of the dish on menu did- so I asked and they were served on my plate. They were nice and crispy but chicken had no seasoning and was bland- needed salt at a minimum And maybe some cumin or other spice. My husband got the #30 steak con rajas. Was basically beef fajita with onions, peppers and bacon- served with tortillas, guacamole, etc. it was REALLY tasty. Meat with great seasoning and spice, great homemade tasting flour tortillas. Stellar dish! All in all it's a good family place amd I have had their breakfast tacos which are awesome! We also Got a dozen of this tortillas to go. Great local business and very groendly

    Great start!

This is a Tex-Mex joint. Just what I wanted. Rudimentary bar and tap beer. Fast friendly service and it really was good. Their chips/salsa were good. Pureed style salsa-not chunky-but fresh and tasty. The chips were fresh & crisp. I ate an atypical meal. Shrimp fajitas. They were great-lots of shrimp and well-carmelized onions and peppers. The guacamole was really fresh but a little bland. A sprinkle of salt & a little salsa fixed it. Really big menu with loads of variety. I need to return & explore more!

Our all time favorite breakfast place. Very authentic and such a great family owned business and staff.

carbon, beef fajtas and camarones....all off the hook authentic and delicious. The warm chips warm ranchero sauce were devoured as well.

As good as I have had anywhere in CTX ..if not including a few choice taco trucks... Only had the mini tacos (street tacos) however they were authentic and delicious. Carbon, Beef Fajita and Camarones. Beef was fresh and flavorful- not salty or at all "chewy/gristly". Not fatty either. And priced right at $1.50 each as well! The comp chips were also fresh and hot, salsas- all 3 of them - delicious as well. Esp the Salsa Verde and Ranchero (served hot) Service very good and the Manager Elias also came out to check on me. My new favorite sit down Mexican in Temple...Los Mini Tacos - taco truck (a bench or two available) on Ave M and 17th is off the hook too.

Part of our leftovers (good portions)

I'm from Austin and was up in Temple on business. Temple isn't a big town so I was driving around just to look around. I came across a plant store/nursery down the street from El Dorado. I loved the plant selection and bought a few. The proprietor was Mexican and I asked him if there was a place in town he recommended for lunch. He turned to a non-descript orange & yellow building a block away and said, "Alli," as he pointed. Seemed good enough for me so my wife and I headed over. I asked the waiter what he recommended and he suggested the El Dorado Fajita Plate and the Carne Asada (the special of the day). My wife is from Argentina and isn't a big fan of Mexican food, but even she loved it. Both dishes were fabulous. The Fajita plate came with the typical sizzling hot cast iron plate but also with beef, chicken, and shrimp. I made three types of fajitas and they were great. The El Dorado Fajita plate was $8.99 and the Carne Asada was $6.99 (normally $7.99 if not the special of the day- it was Tuesday). The fajitas came with a separate plate of lettuce, cheese, beans, quacamole, and pico de gallo. The Carne Asada came with a grilled flank steak, grilled green onions, nopales (cooked cactus), avocado, and rice. Did I mention it was great? Beyond this, there was a very nice portion of food. If we weren't too hungry my wife and I could have split the fajitas. As it turned out we packed up a large and small carry out box to put in our hotel restaurant. When we were leaving, the waiter offered to fill us up with a new to go cup for our lemonade. That's how you get a good Yelp review! I don't believe El Dorado has a website, but ... this place is legit. I think there was as at least as much Spanish spoken amongst the clientele as English (often also a good sign if looking for good, hidden Mexican food jaunts). If you're driving through Temple (or live there) give these guys a shot. It's about 1 mile east of I-35 off of the Central Ave exit. And... if you need some plants, check out the business that's 1 block east (don't remember the name).

    Pork Tacos.... mmmmmmmm!

Food was great! It was probably some of the best Mexican food I've ever had in Texas.

MasFajitas Mexican Restaurant 03-06-26…read more Heard a lot about this restaurant. Large dining area and Bar. The building is shared with a Seafood Restaurant! Separate dining areas with a common foyer and shared restrooms. Staff are very friendly. Our server was Jammie and she was fantastic. She explained the menu and answered our questions. We started off with a small order of guacamole which was awesome. We then tried their White Queso and Traditional Yellow Queso. They were both really good and I couldn't choose which one I liked best! You'll have to try them for yourself! We also had; The Road Kill - Grilled Chicken Breast topped with Queso Sauce, served with one Cheese and Onion Enchilada, Grilled Zucchini, and Pico de Gallo. Very flavorful. The chicken was moist and tender. The Cheese Enchilada was awesome with its chili sauce. Stuffed Fried Avocado - Hand battered fresh Avocado, stuffed with Spinach & Mushrooms. Served with a Cheese Enchilada, Rice, Beans and a side of Queso Sauce. The stuffed Avocado was totally awesome. Wrapped in cheese, then battered and deep fried. Gotta give it a try! The Beans and Rice were really good. We decided we need to go back and try more dishes! Yummy. Oh, The Chips and Salsa are great. Chips are Thin and Crispy and the salsa isn't too hot to eat! Give them a try and see what you think.

The flavors were spot on for the taco fillings, however the fact that the tortillas were undercooked was a real downer. We cannot overstate the importance of a properly cooked tortilla and how it makes or breaks the taco experience. ***On another note, and we really hope that management or the owner will read this comment. Please be mindful of your use of cleaning products. Nothing ruins the flavor of good food like the taste of Fabuloso in your mouth. This is not to throw shade on this business, but when you can taste a cleaning product in your food, this is not a good sign. Caution must be exercised when cleaning places where tortillas are stored, bags or supplies and containers that will be used for carry out food. Fabuloso and similar products like it contain very strong chemicals that will transfer over to anything that is permeable ruining your dining out experience.

I mentioned to my wife that these kinds of places often have kitchens and boy we were in luck. The man in charge, Albert, descended on us and started simultaneously asking what we wanted to order AND praising the virtues of his tamales, among other things. But he had me at "Birria". After being introduced to birria tacos by my lifelong friend, Joel, I have been a huge fan ever since. So we called an audible and decided to get an order for takeout (Albert could convince you to buy anything, I think). We got two orders of Corn QuesaBirria Tacos and the Jalapeño Popper Specialty Taco. Both were great and I especially liked the Birria Tacos, even eating my wife's portion... "You going to eat that?"
