It is a very old world style with all of the lighting and furniture products obviously being shipped in from Mexico.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]We love the chandelier lights and the hardwood tables.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's even really cool that they have pictures on the wall of classic Mexican heroes. Every bite bursting with robust flavor tantalizing the taste buds. The sprite was cool, crisp and perfect. However if you have a shellfish allergy I would advise being very very very very careful and check your food before eating it. Impressively attractive entrance! On the weekday the family dined here, their service was at the top of the chart. We were greeted immediately, and seated at one of their wooden hand-carved booths. The details in their furniture are all such beautiful hand-craftmanship. Their main seating area is decorated by ginormous paintings of Mexican celebrities. In the center above the fireplace is one of Mexico's musical icons. Delicious food and excellent desserts! The only sad thing was they didn't have the first 2 desserts I wanted: flan and fried ice cream. So I settled for the tres leches and brownie sundae in a churro bowl. We had a good experience with ordering in the drive thru thru-with one exception. The food had the very distinct taste of the popular disinfectant, Fabulosa. I'm hoping that ingesting this is not a problem. Evidently, they are using this to clean cooking utensils, pots, and dishes (I think it is supposed to be used more for floors and countertops etc.) and that these things are not being rinsed thoroughly- yuk! The reviews are interesting with a poor to great experience clustering. Our meals (25 or more) have always been good to great, and we are sorry to learn that is not the case for everyone. This has become our go to restaurant in Temple, not just go to Mexican, but go to. They have the best, most consistent menudo in the area, tender, not over salted or over spiced. The other standout is the quesadillas which are never greasy. Some other favorites are carne asada, ceviche, chili relleno, and the shrimp skillet. Sometimes the wait seems long (usually during busy times though), and sometimes the corn tortillas are not as thin and too large. Finally sometimes the servers just disappear for quite a while. Maybe that's a staffing issue, but still, four not five stars. Yes, we will be back, soon. read more

My mom and I decided to try a new Mexican restaurant today so we went to this establishment. I had the five mini tacos with fajita meat and my mom had the small quesadilla with fajita meat. The good thing is the food came fast. The temperature was hot and the waitress was nice. However, as far as the food is concerned, my mom's quesadillas were very greasy and soggy they were actually laying in a little pool of grease. and they weren't even cut into little triangular sections so we had to ask for a knife to do it ourselves. and as far as taste, they were extremely bland flavorless and so we're my mini tacos , they had zero flavor so I had to add salt and pepper and still not good at all. my dish came with a small bowl of beans, but they were too spicy to eat. I could just taste the heat ..definitely will not be coming back. As far as cleanliness is concerned, the front entrance was also very dirty with cups and leaves laying on the floor but it was very windy that day, so I guess that's understandably, except for the cups. We are very picky when it comes to Mexican food. Del Sol Jalisco was as our go-to until we visited Tres Magueyes's new location The first hurdle: chips and hot sauce. Good but the edge goes to DSJs But the entrees were much better than DSJs. The cheese enchiladas, rice and beans were delicious The coup de grace was the kitchen specially making us sopapillas exactly the way Panchos makes their sopapillas (no cinnamon- just plain with honey). The food is always delicious and fresh. The breakfast tacos are stuffed full and the lunch tacos have so much flavor.
