This place is the definition of small town hole in the wall. My wife went to college here so she has fond memories and the food and salsa is still the same and worth the stop. They run a drive thru which is wild and can sometimes limit the service but the food is exactly what you want. read more

Jaliscos has a lot going for it. Cute space with that expected, "upscale-ish" Mexican restaurant vibe, patio overlooking the creek, plenty of parking available. I've been twice now and service has been good both times. Not great, but prompt and efficient. There wasn't a lot of proactiveness (offering boxes, asking crispy or soft taco, refills, suggestive selling), but they got the job done. The food is pretty good. I've had better, but I haven't been disappointed. Tortilla soup, fine. Chicken enchiladas, great, but amount of sauce on top, lacking. Ground beef and salsa, both have a weird spice that I can't quite place but doesn't quite work. Is it rosemary? Is it entirely too much cumin? I can't tell. The exception to the "fine" food rule is the queso. Jaliscos has the best queso I have ever eaten in my many years of eating queso. When I brought my husband here for the first time, I said "this is the queso I've been trying to find for you for 5 years". He thought he loved queso, but on this day, he learned what queso truly was, and it was a glorious day. My mother ate it and it reminded her of the queso she had fallen in love with 35 years earlier at her first restaurant job. Jaliscos doesn't need anything else to be good as long as they never change the queso. I also wish they had a better bar. Walking into this place, I would expect them to have a really nice bar with a fun environment and drink specials, etc. Instead, they have a bar area that doesn't really look designed to be sat at. You're kind of behind the drink machine, there is space for about 3 people to sit there, and the bar is too deep to really reach across it for service. No drink refill, we waited I think 20 minutes after finishing to ask for a box but no one came back. We went and asked for one but then waited an additional twenty minutes for the check. First time eating here. My daughter ordered a small queso and it was one of the best queso we've ever had. Chips were crispy and the salsa was excellent ! I had the crispy taco plate (delicious) husband had the soft taco plate (delicious) and our daughter had the enchilada suiza plate (delicious) our server, Adancito, was nice and prompt to refill drinks, chips and salsa. This place is special. One part of me says it's just tex-mex, but another part knows the flautas are a choose your own adventure experience. They're crisp with the right balance of cheese and chicken. And just like anything fried they'll get heavy. That's why they sit on a bed of very fresh and thinly sliced iceberg lettuce. Little piles of cheddar cheese, guacamole, and sour cream are there to dress the salad as you choose. Take a bit of salad and suddenly you're ready for another bite of flauta. If you somehow get bored dress your flautas with some salsa. It's got cilantro and I hate that herb, but I really love their salsa. Somehow these people have made me appreciate iceberg lettuce. Also, I don't like pork tamales, but I like their pork tamales. This place will ruin you for all others. read more

seen great reviews and decided to try it with my family. terrible experience we waited 15 mins to get menus and the restaurant was basically just two other tables. our server was on her phone the whole time and was taping looked like she was on live, i ordered green enchiladas and they were cold meat was disgusting it was ground beef. I got my daughter the tenders and they were half raw I complained to the waitress about our food and she didn't even understand me nor explain her self, I don't mean to judge or be rude, but don't hire people that cant speak English. having your staff on their phones especially on live and focused on other things isn't okay, definitely won't be coming back here. read more

So frequent this restaurant and there food is good, but some of the employees are incompetent and want to argue with the customer and tell them that's what your ordered. I specifically ordered a Al pastor with rice, beans, cilantro, onions, cheese and sour cream ! No lettuce or tomatoes or avocado or guacamole. Well they forgot the sour cream and I reminded them before I left because they forgot once before and never gave me credit on my next burrito. They have never once added avocado in any of the burritos I ordered and she said it came with it , and then there were tomatoes in which I can't stand in a burrito! Best bang for your money in this area (belton,temple, Killeen) I have found. Can get 3 breakfast tacos for 6$, or a big combo burrito for 7.79. Both very filling great hot sauce selection, and have eaten there twice and the staff are the nicest people, I couldn't ask for more helpful friendly people anywhere. I can't wait to try their dinner menu out. Not kidding those folks are so sweet I would eat there if the food was just okay and it's a lot better than ok lol. read more

Waitress was very attentive and never let our drinks or chips get below half empty. The meat in the enchilada was adequate. Rice and beans were very plain and lacked a lot of flavor. The taco shell disintegrated in my hand. I could not even eat it without a fork. Two flies kept buzzing around our table the entire meal. The most bang for your buck I have had in a LONG time. The staff were so friendly and helpful. I got the mixed fajita with shrimp and could not eat it all and that hasn't happened in years. The food was great and the sauce and beans were really good. The onions and peppers were cooked perfectly not mushy or raw like you get in a lot of places. The menu is huge too. We were passing through heading home from Port A. Wanted to stop and eat in a smaller town to wait on Waco traffic to pass thru. This place had good reviews so we stopped. It did not disappoint. We were the first ones to get there and then many locals starting walking in for the supper rush. Service was friendly, quick, and the combo fajitas were delicious and a large serving.
