    Al Pastor, Carnitas and Pollo.
    Kris L.

Fast friendly service and a nice salsa bar that also included pickled carrots and radishes, but I the tacos were too oily for my taste. I had pollo, carnitas and Al pastor. The Al Pastor was my favorite and this one didn't seem oily, but the carnitas were too fatty for me. The grilled Jalapeño and onions were a nice touch, but a bit too oily for me as well. If I come back, I might try the shrimp tacos and get the Al Pastor again.

The food was absolutely amazing. The pastor was my favorite. They have a salsa bar and we tried three salsa that were amazing. The place was clean smelled fresh. The staff was helpful and our view from our table was great.

Saturday afternoon visit, the food was enjoyable overall. The nachos could have come with more guacamole and the cheese tasted very processed. The al pastor and carne asada tacos were good. The salsa bar makes it easy to choose from the various salsa options. The service was fine. The restaurant was not busy inside, many customers like myself got their food as takeout.

The food here (specifically quesa birria) is so good. The horchata is better than anywhere I've found. I travel here for work from California and this is without a doubt some of the best Mexican food I've had. It's like when I've had food in Tijuana. It's fantastic. Highly recommend

Let favorite place for tacos in the valley. Usually takes about 15-20 mins to get your order, but is always hot and fresh. They have a salad bar with all the good toppings and sauces on front where you order. Inside is always playing good music, and had a non and pop feel to it with a fair amount of seating and booths.

Walking into this restaurant, my first impression was positive--the place is spotless, and the staff is warm and welcoming. They have a well-maintained salad bar for salsa and condiments, all neatly covered with lids, and even the restrooms were exceptionally clean. Given the glowing reviews, I had high expectations, but unfortunately, the food didn't quite live up to them. My mother and daughter ordered the menudo, and both found it lacking in flavor. The carne asada torta was just okay--my husband noted that the meat was well-seasoned, but overall, it wasn't his favorite. The birria was generously packed with meat and stood out as the best dish we tried, but even then, it wasn't the best we've had. Would I return? Probably not. We sampled a variety of menu items, and none of them impressed us enough to justify the trip, especially since this spot is a bit out of the way. I don't mind driving for great food, but this one didn't make the cut. If you're in the area, it might be worth a try, but I wouldn't go out of my way for it. While the cleanliness and friendly service were definite highlights, the food itself was a solid 3/5 at best. Note: the salsas were a disappointment The guacamole has no flavor and one the salsas was very tangy

Pay attention or you'll drive right by the location. It's located in a small strip mall - smallish parking lot where the asphalt is torn up. Solid fully stocked salsa/sauce and toppings bar with five different sauces. I had the California burrito - they give you your choice of meat and cheese (nacho or shredded mozzarella) which is atypical from my past experiences ordering a California burrito at other establishments.

Big fan of the burros here. The birria one is fire. The quesabirria is also good, but I would say their specialties are burros, and maybe the vampiros too. They have cheap asada and al pastor tacos on Tuesday and Thursday as well! Place is always clean and the staff are always friendly. I will definitely keep coming back. Bring cash if you want to avoid a credit card up charge.

There's a reason why this relatively nondescript looking Taqueria in North Phoenix is so popular. The food is really good, and you get a wide variety of choices. They have a good assortment of beverages, including one of the best horchata I've ever had. There's really good salsa bar, and you get a free cup of delicious frijoles if your order is over $10. Service is very friendly, and the prices are really good, especially considering the quality and quantity of the food.

I believe the only option for parking is to find street parking. I don't think they have a parking lot, unless I missed it. I tried their Costra taco, which is a beef taco with caramelized cheese, and it was amazing! I also tried the chicken taco, which was good. For a drink, I had their Strawberry-Lemonade Agua Fresca, and it was really good as well. Desserts don't count while you're on a business trip, right? So, I ended up ordering the Tres Leches de Coco, and it was absolutely amazing. It wasn't overly sweet at all and felt surprisingly light. The only thing I didn't like about this place was the restroom situation. You have to grab a key from the restaurant and walk outside to a restroom a few restaurants over. The restroom itself also had a few broken items, some light graffiti here and there, etc., which took away from the overall experience a little. Overall, I'd highly recommend the Costra taco and Tres Leches de Coco!

After taking a very short-lived walk through Roosevelt Row (it was HOT outside), I needed food and refreshment. I stopped into Taco Chelo and grabbed a seat at the bar. Lucky me, it was also happy hour. I ordered a frozen peach margarita and a variety of tacos. The star of the show for me was their fish tacos. Amazing! Even better, you could see the tortillas being freshly made. I don't know about you, but to me, the fresher the tortilla, the better the food tastes. My bartender was attentive and although the margaritas were frozen, they still snuck up on me. Taco Chelo is a very casual spot. A lot of people were enjoying watching sports at the bar. When in Phoenix again, I'd definitely return.

Sometimes the best meals happen because your original plan falls through. That was exactly the case…read morehere, and honestly... I'm not even a little mad about it. I ordered the veggie tacos with roasted sweet potatoes (skin on, which was absolutely the right call), pepitas, feta, and all the right toppings. Whoever prepped those sweet potatoes deserves a raise because they were cut into the perfect sized pieces. Every bite had a little sweetness, a little crunch, a little saltiness... it just worked. My dining partner ordered the barbacoa tacos, and I didn't even have to ask if they were good. The involuntary "Mmm..." after the first bite answered that question. Four tacos disappeared in record time, followed by, "I could've eaten two more." That's about as glowing of a review as you're going to get. Now let's talk about these tortillas. Handmade. Corn. Tortillas. Are you kidding me? They're the kind of tortillas that had me question every tortilla I've ever eaten. Soft, fresh, and somehow they manage to steal the spotlight even with everything else on the plate being so good. The chips and guacamole were excellent, too. The chips have to be made in-house and they disappeared at an alarming rate. The salsa that came with them had this smoky, fire-roasted, chipotle flavor that kept me reaching for another chip... and then another... and then suddenly I realized I'd eaten way more chips than I intended. The bottled table salsas deserve their own paragraph because they completely confused me... in the best way. They bring three to the table... a green, a red, and a darker red. I kept tasting them individually thinking, "Okay, these are alright." Then I started mixing them. Game over. On their own, each one was solid. Mixed together? That was the magic. I don't know if that's what they intended or if I accidentally stumbled onto the perfect combination, but from that point on, every taco got the salsa trio treatment. The only tiny hiccup was when we first walked in. We were greeted, asked if we wanted menus, and sat ourselves. We waited for a bit thinking someone would come take our order, only to realize it's actually counter service. Once we figured that out, everything was smooth sailing. Not a big deal at all... just something first-time visitors might want to know. Follow the sign "order here" I also loved the layout. You can actually watch them making the food, which somehow makes the wait even harder because everything smells incredible. Two tacos ended up being the perfect light meal for me. Could I have eaten ten? Absolutely. Those two statements can both be true. Meanwhile, my dining partner polished off four barbacoa tacos and was talking about ordering two more. We only ended up here because another place happened to be closed, and honestly, I'm glad it worked out that way. This ended up being one of those meals we keep talked about on the drive home. Oh and the bathrooms?. I walked in and immediately thought, "Whoa... this is a cool bathroom" The lighting had this pinkish-purple glow that made me feel like I'd accidentally wandered into a trendy lounge instead of a taco shop. I honestly wasn't even sure there was regular lighting in there and I didn't look... because the vibe seemed so intentional. Finally, the music. .. upbeat, dance-worthy, the kind that had me bouncing in my seat while waiting for my food. Between the atmosphere, the lighting, and the music, the whole place had me want to hang out a little longer. Zero regrets. I'll absolutely be back... and next time I'm ordering more tacos.
