El Taco Dojo, my new favorite food stop. Craving some good street tacos, I followed the reviews here, and they did not disappoint. The food here is absolutely delicious! I've tried the chicken, steak, pulled pork, and grilled pork tacos so far; and I honestly can't pick a favorite, just sooooooooo good. Seriously, whether a burrito, Dojowrap, Taco, quesadilla, or a simple side of rice, you can't go wrong. I also need to add that I have a ridiculous amount of food allergies/sensitivities, and I'm so delighted to say that I had NO reactions at all after eating here. They did a fantastic job avoiding cross contamination by keeping their open kitchen work area clean, and visibly wearing gloves when handling any food. The restaurant itself is on the smaller side, but it has a great vibe. I love the art on the walls. There is some indoor seating available, so you can dine-in or take out, and the parking lot has plenty of room. I will note that did not happen to see a public restroom available, but I also did not happen to ask either. I need to mention that the employees themselves are great! Patient while you make choices, offering suggestions if asked, helpful with making alterations for special diets, and overall just friendly, great guys. I highly recommend you stop by and have a meal from El Taco Dojo, and I have a feeling they will be seeing a lot of my family and I from now on.

So Yummy!! Everything is freshly made. We got the Barbacoa quesadilla and tacos (2 Barbacoa, 1 carnita) meals. Comes with chips and salsa or guacamole. There's also salsas on the side to try. Definitely will return!

Grabbed two 3 taco plates for my team member and me. Mine with 3 chicken tacos, side of chips and guacamole, side of beans. Second one was one chicken, one beef, one pastor and side of chips and guacamole. $34.98. The condiments are lettuce, cilantro, onion, tomatoes. The chips were decent, crunchy and seasoned. The guacamole was also pretty good lots of red onions and flavorful and fresh. The chicken tacos were damaged. I had some fatty and Sie pieces and my three tacos. The refried beans were decent, whole beans still intact in it. A bit dry though. My team member enjoyed their pastor, pork, chicken and beef as well, chips and salsa too.

I went to El Taco Dojo on Hayes Rd after work/Ordered food to go/It was busier this visit-vs-previous; a bit of a wait, but worth it!

Yup, this place lives up to the hype. The steak tacos were great but the chicken quesadilla was even better. They aren't skimpy with the meats. The house made chips, guacamole, and salsas were all great too! Super easy to order online and it was ready and packaged nicely when I got there a few minutes early

This is an epic place for amazing Mexican street food. Everything we had was great but, there were a couple of things that were truly exceptional. When give a place 5* on Yelp, that signifies the restaurant is a destination...worth going out of your way to get this food. There is so much to like about El Taco Dojo. 1) everything is house made. The ingredients are fresh and delicious 2) the dudes that run the joint take a great deal of pride in what they do. They were excited to talk with us about their menu items and quick to share samples of before we ordered. 3) portions sizes were generous 4) the salas, my goodness were they fantastic. The pineapple habanero in particular was amazing. I added it to my Al pastor taco and it was perfection 5) they may serve the best basket of chips and guacamole in metro Detroit. As I said, every thing is house made, chips included. They were nice and crispy with a great seasoning blend, they certainly didn't come from a bag 6) their elote is great. I usually don't like mayo based foods but this was well balanced with lime that gave some nice counter to the richness of the mayo 7) all 3 of the proteins I tried, Barbacoa, Al pastor and chorizo were great. May have been the best chorizo I've ever had Macomb county is over run with mediocre Meh-xican restaurants that serve up flavorless, Americanized junk. It's so exciting to have an alternative that serves great, well crafted Mexican food. Now that I've tried it...I know I'll be back...often

All working "alone". You have to ask for everything. Water. Straws. Napkins. Chips. Refills. With 3-4 waitresses walking around, why not work as a team?! Chips/Salsa/Cheese: Not house made/fresh. Just under a warmer. Food was okay, they ran out of Carnitas (Pork). I'd prefer to go to other Mexican establishments in the area. Birria tacos barely had any meat. When you watch workers walk over the same crumbled up napkin on the ground near the "bar"over and over, clearly no one cares or pays attention! Also, I found it odd that they didn't have a designated area for their personal waters. They just had it all over the bar counter. Very disappointing!

Many options, besides the ala carte items. My friend got the fajita burrito with chicken and it was massive! He took half of it home. I got the number one on the vegetarian combo section and it consisted of one bean burrito, one cheese enchilada and a side of rice. I also got a side of guacamole and that was really good. I enjoyed my meal too and ended up taking the cheese enchilada home. The chips and salsa were good and I also requested the hot salsa which was really good. It looked like it was going to be really hot, but it wasn't unbearable!! The waiter was really good and I heard him speaking Spanish to other customers, so if you know anybody that needs someone to translate, that is helpful to know.

Easy to make through Open Table, and we were able to put in a request to sit outside on their patio (which they honored). Parking was convenient - they have their own lot or there's street parking right out front. On this particular night, Utica was lively with activity so it was a fun atmosphere and the restaurant was packed. First thing they do is plop down a huge platter of free chips and salsa, which is not something you don't see that much anymore. Unfortunately, we barely touched them because the chips were kind of stale, just didn't taste good. On the other hand, we both enjoyed our drinks - I got the classic hand squeezed margarita and I would get it again. My friend seemed to enjoy her tacos but I got the mahi mahi street tacos and they were not very good - fish was dry and flavorless. Seems like this is a little bit of a "hit or miss" kind of place for food. They do have huge portions so it feels like a little more quantity or quality. Service was good in the beginning, but our waiter maybe forgot about us towards the end and we had to really flag him down for our bill. I would come back for drinks and to enjoy the patio again if I was in the area.
