Had dinner with a friend on a Tuesday night. Not busy at all and got right in for the patio. We were then ignored by staff for about 10-15 min until I waved a server down. Two tables were sat after us and had their drinks before we got served. There must have been confusion on who's table was who's. We eventually got our drinks and the chips and salsa. The salsa was very good and flavorful! I enjoyed. My friend and I shared a mango margarita, yummmmmm. It was plenty for both of us and I loved all the flavor choices. I would come back for the marg. My friend had the cheese quesadilla and I had a combo meal. We were both satisfied with our meals. The taco shell came instantly mushy so I didn't eat that but ate the meat and toppings. The rice and beans were very good. Good and drink were good but the service (like other reviews) lacked. Will come again for drinks read more

I love this Mexican restaurant, it's the best even better any in Sioux Falls. I have eaten here a few times & they never let you down with portion size or nothing. The best around this area that's for sure. The staff is right there to wait on you & the food is fast & reasonably priced. I don't go anywhere else for my Mexican. We've eaten at El Tapatio a few times and we tend to place an order to go rather than dine in due to the staff. The few times we've eaten at the restaurant we get seated and forgotten about. One time we waited 20+ minutes just to have our drink order taken. Another time we waited forever for our bill and to go boxes. When we place an order for pickup it's typically ready within 10-15 minutes. The food is decent and definitely hits the spot but we've had better Mexican food at other restaurants. read more

They made us a margarita with Horuda taquila, the Queso fundido was real cheese, home made chips and salsa...perfect refried beans, and the pork didn't need a knife! We stopped here to have a cold margarita when we were at a baseball tournament and it was super hot outside! So glad we stopped. The margaritas were fabulous and the fajitas were delicious. This is my second visit. We have been seated on the patio for 45 minutes. Got a chip refill, but have not had a single person attempt to take an order. Then a waiter came and took the order of the table next to us. He do not give me a look. After sitting waiting for 55 we hit up and left. We got seated at 7:30 and left at 8:25. Other than the hostess, not one employee even made eye contact. Such a bad experience. It sucks because I really like their food. read more

The best Mexican food in Sioux Falls is actually in Brandon! Seriously authentic, fresh, and oh so tasty. I grew up in California, and this place is (surprisingly) every bit as good as some of my old haunts there. Is it nestled in a town of 10k that is essentially devoid of other restaurants? Yes. Yet the staff are Mexican, the food is amazing, and the place is immaculate and tastefully decorated -elaborately even. This place defies reason. It shouldn't exist, but it does, and it's amazing. Don't miss the enchiladas and especially the signature margarita (the El Tapatio). Generous portion that goes down as easy as possible one with very little alcohol, but I promise you that it sneaks up on you like Mexican ninja who wants to make you clumsy and sociable. read more

This is my first time here. Brand spanking new restaurant from the ground up. Just opened about 2 weeks ago. We came at 3 o'clock in the afternoon on a Saturday because it's been packed every day. Excellent service with a friendly staff. Ambience is excellent. Authentic Mexican decorations on the walls and even heavily decorated dining chairs. The food was very good and very tasty. Not too spicy and not bland at all. My wife and I ordered the Enchiladas Loco and the Chile Relleno plate as well as a side plate with a beef crispy taco. Well, the food was hot. Both the plate as well as most of the food were hot to the touch and full of life. I like my Mexican Food spicy. This was not spicy and so I had to add plenty of green sauce to it to 'heat it up' for me but the flavor was very good. The Enchiladas Locos were seasoned shredded chicken in a rolled enchilada with some very delicious red sauce with rice and beans as well as some sour cream. My wife loved it. I loved the few bites I could get off the plate. She slapped my hand and so I had to stop raiding her plate. My Chile Relleno plate consisted of a cheese 'relleno', a cheese enchilada, a huge beef tamale, and some Spanish rice and beans. The tamale was delicious and just right in flavor. The Chile Relleno was also delicious for a cheese rellleno. Rice had a good consistency and flavor to it as well as the refried beans. I'll have to get that again but first I'll get an entire plate of Enchiladas Locos. The crispy taco was a shredded beef taco with lettuce and a bit of tomato. It had a good flavor and nice and crispy. All in all, a delicious meal. We will be back. We loved it. Oh, forgot the chips and salsa at the beginning. Two different red salsas. One with a kick on it. And the freshly brewed tea touched it off nicely. Nice job, El Tapatio. We'll make that 18 mile drive again. read more

Absolutely the worst service we have ever seen. We not only got the wrong orders but when I mentioned it to the staff they laughed as a "customer" called me derogatory, demeaning and profane names. The only scene made was by this man. YELLING at me because I asked where my fiancés meal was, why we didn't get the meals we ordered, and why my child's chicken strips were cut in 1/2, along with he ordered a side of rice and the brought him extra French fries? They NEVER checked on us, brought out our Guacamole with nothing to dip it in. We asked for more chips (small basket for 5 people previously) and we were told "momento" because he had to get his "manager"??? I left In tears and hungry...And the rest of the party left extremely disappointed. And I hope the man who disrespected me doesn't have any females in his life. NOBODY deserves the foul, hateful, despicable things he said to me, let alone a stranger. read more

I understand that it's Father's Day and it's going to be busy but we sat for 25 minutes and no one even came to get a drink order. The server was in our area multiple times but didn't try to even talk to us or tell us anything. We tried to give him one more chance as he talked to a table next to us he dropped off their drinks and then asked for them what they wanted to order that's when we had enough and got up to leave. When he saw that he said he will be right with us but it's to late. As we left they had 6 hosts but it felt like it they only had 2 servers. It doesn't take much common sense to figure out you will need more than 2 servers. Common sense goes a long way. DO BETTER read more

It feels like forever since the last time we ate out here...and it was so sweet and yummy to be back!! They have a beautiful new menu and the same consistently delicious food. The establishment looks clean and feels fresh. They are practicing social distancing with seating. They are not wearing masks and gloves. Actually feels quite alright to me. Friendly quick service. My wife and I got the California Burrito with Chicken. It came with Rice and Beans. On the top was fresh lettuce and fresh raw onion. I'll say this it was lacking flavor. Rice was extremely dry, the beans were probably the best thing on the plate and they were subpar, a secret to making the rice edible was mixing the beans with the bone dry rice to add some moisture into the mix. A short drive from Sioux Falls, but definitely worth the trip! They had a good sized crowd, but it is a large dining room and had immediate seating on a Saturday night. Had super friendly service from Vianey. The Modelo tap was huge and delicious. The Burrito de Carne Asada also was a generous portion and absolutely delicious. The sauce on top was surprisingly spicy, in a most pleasant way, but a side of sour cream is recommended if you want to cool it down a bit.
