Just what I needed! After a busy morning of touring Antelope Canyon, popped in here for lunch and it was DeLiCiouSo. I'm from NYC and this was probably the best Mexican food I've had. Got the carne asada which is skirt steak w rice and beans and guacamole. Sound simple but it was super flavorful and juicy. Everything was yummy, the food was so hot I had to wait to eat it! Luckily they give you nachos and salsa to nibble on too. Food was fresh and perfectly cooked. I'm not Into beans but they were so tasty. Highly recommend this place to refuel! Very affordable prices and great quality food (my meal was just $11!). Better than getting fast food for sure which you get sick of while on the road! Also I just saw the review below me about the sneaking in the tip. They did not do that to my bill (mine had the printout of the recommended tip %). Not sure if they do that for lunch vs dinner. I had the chile relleno and my wife had the taco platter. My food was well prepared and served. The portions are huge. There were two medium sized Mexican chilies on my plate stuff with cheese and topped with cheese and tomato sauce. The chilies tasted great. I prefer black beans rather than the pinto beans that most restaurants in this area serve. So I only had a small amount of the rice. My wife also thought her food was good. The spicy coleslaw which was served at the beginning with the chips was excellent. We are going there again tonight. read more

Taste wise, I'd give this restaurant a 4. However, my overall review was a 2. I ordered Tacos de Carne Esada and it was easily one of my favorite versions of this dish (aside from the fact Mexican dishes usually use the white Chihuahua cheese, not the orange version ). My boyfriend also ordered his usual, chicken quesadilla. He liked his but it wasn't his favorite. The lettuce seemed to be straight from a salad mix bag with carrots and cabbage. I've eaten at Mexican restaurants all over the country and lived in South Texas for several years where Tex-Mex is king. It took until tonight to have the best Mexican meal ever! El Tapatio in Page, Arizona is where it happened. Ar had the Steak Fajitas for 2. It arrived at the table where the waiter finished it with a flare-- literally. He flamed the hot skillet as he presented it. Bravo! The steak was cooked perfectly after having a delicious marinade. The peppers and onions were a perfect combination of tender yet crisp. Other than a little slow because it was very busy, the food was so delicious and the outside seat was roomy and comfortable and just lovely on a warm night. Starting out they bring out the chips, yummy salsa and Mexican cabbage coleslaw, my favorite! We shared a meal because we saw how huge the portions and we weren't too hungry, just wanted to try a Yelp favorite! We ordered the Chicken and Salsa Verde dinner with flour tortillas and it was outstanding! Yep, the portion was huge and it was so tasty served with beans and rice. We left so full and satisfied. Food was really, really good and our waiter was awesome but after we sat down, it took a good 15 minutes for him to finally help us (after I waived another person down.) He was great the rest of the night, but there were flies EVERYWHERE. We had to constantly fan our food so the flies wouldn't land on our dishes. I'm not sure if it was because we were next to a window, but they were constantly swarming our table, making it impossible to eat in peace. read more

We went to this restaurant on Wednesday night. The room was full. They don't take reservations so we had to wait for a few minutes to be seated. The waiter was very knowledgeable and gave us great recommendations. We have started with their signature Margaritas. They add a hint of orange to the regular Margarita and it gives it nice twist. We have enjoyed enchiladas (got "trio" with different fillungs- one was pretty spicy). Beef fajita was nice and juicy, but a bit salty for my taste. Stake was too dry. I would say the drinks and service are the best features of this place. read more

This place is fantastic. Great motif inside, a very extensive menu ( too much so) and big portions. Service was exceptional and we enjoyed our waiter. I had the fajitas trio which could feed four people. The plate, naturally, was piping hot. Good salsa, good chips. Their homemade hot sauce was ok but rare for a small family restaurant. Traveling from Los Angeles we stopped in Arizona to hike and sightsee before heading out to Utah. Hungry from our long day we stopped at El Tapatio because... well the reviews are great!! Sure enough our food and service were exceptional. I had the Polo Chipotle and my Boyfriend had Chilaquiles con polo, everything was very authentic and flavorful. To summarize we were there a few days ago. Food extremely expensive which would be ok if service was good. There was a women who was not our server who was busing and doing everything it seems and we asked her for stuff but she forgot but remembered after the third time which was ok. Our server never came to refill drinks or ask if food was ok. Literally good luck running down a server for anything. Never in my life have I seen the level of food poisoning my boy friend got from eating from Tapatio restaurant. On Saturday night we decided to order from this restaurant because we were in the mood for Mexican. I ordered the nacho supreme without meat (thank goodness) and he ordered a shredded beef burrito. When I arrived to pick up my order, the restaurant was packed with people not wearing masks and not socially distancing, including a packed kitchen with most of the staff not wearing masks. I felt really uncomfortable being there and was glad we had ordered for take out. The food was ok, it wasn't hot and the flavors weren't like authentic Mexican cuisine. Honestly would have been better off with Taco Bell. The next day my boyfriend was in bed crippled in pain for more than 24 hours with the worst stomach pain and vomiting I had ever seen. I wish I were kidding but it was terrible. We Will definitely never return to that restaurant again. And if you're in the mood for Mexican either pick a different place or risk your health. read more

This place was one of the best place I have ever been!! The culture was just so vibrant and it feels you are in Mexico. The food was so good and big. They give you your money's worth. The staff was excellent and loved how they brought their culture to us by speaking in Spanish and English. So I highly recommended this restaurant if you are visiting the great state of Arizona. Spending a couple of days in Page, we decided to try El Tapatio based on reviews. The upshot was that we had some of the worst Mexican food we've ever experienced. The only good point is that we were seated quickly and the food came quickly, but it's all down hill from there. A large combination plate, delivered with the cliche "hot plate!" was anything but hot. Everything was lukewarm or even cool. Cheese in the cheese enchilada was not melted; the same for the minuscule amount of cheese in a chili relleno. Moreover, everything was swimming in a pool of cold water apparently from a wad of wet lettuce placed on top of everything. Appraised of the situation, the server's only offer, after consulting with the manager, was an additional food item. I chose another cheese enchilada, asking that it be hot this time. No such luck. It came like the first, barely warm, cheese not melted either inside or on top. The right thing to do would have been to comp us the meal, but there was no offer to do that. The server was apologetic, but his good service and apology couldn't possibly make up for the terrible food. It seems like there may be no decent Mexican food to be had in Page anymore. read more

Wow! This place was fantastic! The service was incredible and the food was delicious. My bf and I stopped here for dinner after a day of road tripping from Vegas to Page. We checked into our hotel and started looking up places on Yelp. Neither of us were really in the mood for Mexican but this place caught our eye because of the seafood entrees and was close to our hotel. We ordered guacamole, Camarones Al Chipotle and Mojarra. The guacamole was hands down the BEST guacamole I've ever had. It's not the typical style of guac but rather this super chunky version full of flavor and amazingness! Both entrees were also delicious. The portion sizes are HUGE! I didn't count how many shrimp were on my plate but the portion was more than enough for 2+ meals. I thought their pricing was more than fair for the amount of food (seafood especially!) that we received. The chipotle sauce was heavenly and the burn continued to build the more we ate. We of course took our leftovers even though we were roadtripping because the food was that GOOD. We asked our waiter for some containers to put the leftover salsa in and he brought us another bag of chips togo! So awesome! Also, I'm going to say this: I know food is good when it's still delicious the next day. We ate the leftover Camarones Al Chipotle cold the next day on our next leg of the journey. And they were surprisingly still delicious! If you are in Page, I 100% recommend this place! read more

It had a nice spice to it and was super tasty and fresh. I got the veggie chimichangas and that was delicious and packed with flavor. The Mexican rice with it was also so flavorful.
