I never do written reviews for restaurants as in my opinion it takes too long and the chances it will be read are slim, this restaurant gave me a reason to write a review. I went here based on a recommendation and took my mom and sister thinking we were getting authentic Mexican food (we're from Virginia). Overall the service was mediocre, nothing to cry or gleam about. The quality of the food was meh, but for the price it was horrendous, especially the meal for 2 which was around 54 dollars. Tacos were greasy and just met the edible level. The reason for the one star is due to the tip issue found in the pictures. They automatically included the tip in the total price and then expected us to tip based on that, essentially meaning you could leave a tip of around 40%!!! The quality and service is maybe 3 stars, but this shady tactic to target tourist is unacceptable. Really shameful on a business aspect.
This place is pretty busy and the food comes out fast so the quality isn't that great. We ordered and I went to the restroom and our food was out. Per our Airbnb host quality goes down during busy season as they are trying to get people in and out. The flauta was burnt on the ends and it was pretty dry. They said they couldn't do pork in it because it falls out and then I got the pork enchilada which was fine. The fries were terrible they were soggy and didn't taste cooked. My husband got the burrito and he said it was okay.
This place was recommended by the hotel concierge. I should say, this place is good! The service was fast. I noticed they have a lot of staff working from receptionist to waiters. The food came out real hot! The food is good. I ordered the combinaciones biria.. love it. My husband ordered the tacos, he was impressed too. The place is family-oriented!
Great spot in Page. I'd say food options are slim in this town. Service was great, food was delicious. Their michelada is solid. It's a clean convenient spot.
This Mexican restaurant is a solid choice for a casual meal. The food is flavorful and satisfying, with classic dishes done well. Tacos, enchiladas, and sides hit the mark, and the portions are generous. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, and the service is friendly and attentive. Not the fanciest spot in town, but definitely dependable for a tasty Mexican meal.
I almost wasn't going to leave a review but decided I should at least give my opinion to warn others... the reviews on yelp seemed solid enough to try this place. Everything was less than mediocre at best. Chips: very stale. Salsa: way too much cilantro (and I like cilantro). Then I order something simple, Veggie Enchiladas. It was composed completely of frozen veggie mix (string beans, lima beans, cauliflower, carrots, etc)! Think high school cafeteria quality. I had almost ordered Veggie Fajitas. I wonder if they would have just dumped this mix into a skillet! The best thing on the plate was the rice. Service was fast but... scolding hot plate (not warm) was merely dropped off at my table without mentioning this. I found this out when I tried to move it. Ouch! Really no reason for it to be this hot. I was never checked on. I don't usually care about this (I'll ask if I need something) but other waiters seemed to be attentive to other tables. I did finally ask another waiter for my check. Lastly, middle of the night wake-up call and my stomach tolerates most things.
Disappointed. This was recommended by hotel employees and trip advisor. It was not a good experience. I was met by a nice host and the wait staff was amiable. I was unable to eat in the restaurant. There was a pervasive odor that was extremely unpleasant. My booth was right next to a portable ac unit and was not too far from the restroom. Perhaps the odor emanated from one of those sources. No idea. Trust me. It was bad. I placed an order to go and got out of there as quickly as possible. Upon returning to my hotel, I discovered that no cutlery or napkins were included. I was able to get a set from the hotel bar. I ordered tacos al carbon which came with rice and beans. I also ordered chips and salsa. I do not think the chips are homemade and the salsa was unremarkable. Not spicy or particularly fresh. The rice and beans had no seasoning. Perhaps adding table salt would have helped. But as I took my food to go that was not an option. The tacos were good. The meat was well prepared and the tortillas were tender and wonderful to eat. Again, however, it was under seasoned. There was some type of sauce smeared on the top of the tacos, but the sauce had no taste. They charged $29.00 for three tacos and tasteless rice and beans. I should have left as soon as I smelled the odor. Oh well, live and learn. My rec is to eat elsewhere.
(2/5) We stopped in hoping for some great Mexican comfort food, but the nachos left us a little disappointed. While there was plenty of cheese, it was way too much -- almost smothering everything else. There were barely any beans & not enough tomatoes for my personal liking, so the flavor ended up being kind of flat and one-dimensional. The salsa was just okay -- almost mild with only a tiny hint of heat. Service was a bit slow, but our waitress was friendly and the kitchen got the order right, which we appreciated. Overall, not terrible, but not a place we'd go back to for nachos. Overall, place is festive but cold use a deep cleaning.
3.5: first time in Page and not a bad place for a meal, with a large selection but not cheap prices and lackluster but relatively quick service. It looks a bit like a fast food place from the outside but it's a step up from there. They give you chips and salsa complimentary. The veggie quesadilla was "ok" but I didn't care that much since I was hungry: the filling was kind of spotty and the tortillas were a little hard. The steak tortillas were also ok. Service was quick but seemed disinterested, which again wasn't that important if you're just looking for food. If I lived in this area, I don't think I would return regularly but haven't tried anything else in Page either. Close to Antelope Canyon tours.
We found this restaurant while visiting Page, AZ. We walked in and were seated right away. They didn't look too busy at that time. The menu is huge and the tables and chairs are very colorful. We were given chips and salsa right away. For entrees, I got the enchilada suiza and my husband got the seafood fajitas. They were both large portions and tasty. The food came out very quickly as well. If you happen to be in Page, I would say this is a good place to try out.
So glad we came here after a very long drive and hiking. The wet burrito and the chimichanga were so good! The portions are very big so definitely great to share!
Mixed Experience at Tapatio - Great Guac, High Prices, and Spotty Service I've visited Tapatio in Page, AZ twice recently with a party of five. Our first visit was generally enjoyable. The fresh guacamole was excellent, and my friends raved about the birria. I ordered the molcajete, but personally didn't care for the flavor profile. Still, the experience was decent overall. The real shock came with the prices. In my opinion, nearly everything on the menu is 25-50% above market value without a noticeable difference in quality. For example, a soft drink costs $4.25 and only includes one refill. One couple in our group--visiting from Europe--suggested we return for a second visit. They don't have a local price reference and aren't as concerned about cost. On our return, the food was similar. Another great $15 bowl of guacamole, and my wife and I split the fajitas for two ($41). A single margarita ran $14. However, service took a major downturn. Our fajitas arrived without tortillas. When I asked, I was told they were on their way. I asked again after a few minutes--same response. Eventually, I turned around and saw seven servers standing around a computer, including ours. My wife finally had to walk to the kitchen herself before the tortillas were brought out. In summary: If you're okay with fairly good food, indifferent service, and inflated prices, this may be the place for you. For me, it was a disappointing return visit and probably our last.
Very pricey! Food quality very average. Service was spotty. Atmosphere was cool. Came here for dinner one night. The restaurant looks pretty cool, whimsical decor. The menu was extensive. Since this is the only restaurant with more affordable prices in town it was crowded. Ordered 2 entrees to share and they were average in terms of quality taste and portion size. I can get the same meal in California for half the price. Service was fast and efficient.
This Mexican Food is authentic, fresh, and tasty! I ordered 2 cheese Enchiladas with rice and beans. I know... it's basic but it's one of those things you can trust they won't get wrong. EL TAPATIO got it sooooooooo right. I ate everything in my plate. I loved the sauce. They bring you out 2 types of salsa too. Both yummy. And fresh chips! I would recommend this place. While driving back from horse shoe bend we found this authentic Mexican food! We ordered some basics - guacamole, enchiladas, burritos! They don't serve black beans which is what I prefer over pinto beans! The food was flavorful, there home made salsa was spicy and delicious!! Service was a bit slow, but food was worth a try as we were middle of nowhere. read more
Service was great. Our server was attentive and prompt. Everything else was a little disappointing... First off, there is no COVID safety here. Tables are definitely less than 6 feet together, indoors and obviously nobody is wearing masks (the staff are, though). So if you're not vaccinated or you don't feel comfortable, this isn't the place to go. The beans were watered down and I would be shocked if the chips/tortillas were made by hand. The rest of the sides tasted like they've been either sitting out for a while or just thrown together without much thought. Everything tasted super store bought. We ordered fajitas for 2 with steak and shrimp. Total came out to be about 50 including tip... it's actually quite pricey for the quality (individual plates average around $30). It's also a ton of food (onions) - we had a full day of hiking and I think my party of 2 could have split just a regular fajita platter. The presentation is nice. They light it on fire as they serve it to you. Showy, but unfortunately doesn't make the food better. I'd actually pass on this restaurant next time. I would not recommend it overall. read more

Oh yeah! This is our top best-rated Mexican restaurant in so long!! Everything about this place meets and even exceeds expectations! We're in Page Az on a road trip and ended up here because we wanted Mexican food on Cinco de Mayo. My gosh, food is so flavorful! I'm a tad loopy on the reg size margarita I ordered. . On vacay after all. But! Aside from food so good, cocktails are tasting so balanced! Tasting so from scratch! Artistry, creativity and care. You get all this from this restaurant. We strongly recommend you stop in. We're from SoCal transplanted from NorCal. We know great Mexican food! THIS IS VERY GOOD! Icing on the cake? $$. Great service from our guy: Ricardo #13! I really don't like to give reviews like this as I know this hurts an establishment, however, I feel obligated to be honest as well for those that seek out info on a location for their safety. This place is at most an average place to eat Mexican food. I am sure there may be better. There are a few other options in the area and hopefully soon I will have the opportunity to try them out too. First off, they are not social distancing and are not putting in sanitary measures other than mask requirements. All the booths were at most 3 ft apart with all of the condiments were left out. See photo of an unusual condiment that was left out uncleaned. We then decided on some burritos. Although they tasted fine, I expected more flavor. It was lacking some of the elements I would have expected. Salsa was a tomato sauce consistency chunky style- which tasted fine just different. They even made us a habanero salsa when we wanted more spice to our food. Service was fast and food was warm just not spectacular. Prices were a little high for what it was. read more
I've eaten here several times now, but I've always eaten my food before being able to post a picture. That's probably a good sign. I enjoy obviously eating here, my favorite meal is the 5 De Mayo Enchiladas. Comes with enchiladas with your choice if meat with three different sauces. Good portion + good flavor equals good combination. I also like the Tapatio Grande meal because I can pick and choose different entrees to eat in my meal. I also like the fact that you have a choice between refried beans, pinto beans or black beans with your meal. I'll try to refrain myself on future visits and take a picture before I eat it all. read more
Like everyone else in town, we were in town for Horseshoe Bend and Lower Antelope valley. Yelp pointed us to this place and it wasn't too bad What I ate: - House margarita: perfect, no complaints - 3 combo platter: After walking around all day and seeing the sights, I was starving, this combo platter was huge and I was able to get exactly what I wanted: pork tamal, chicken enchilada, beef flauta. Everything was really delicious, that kind of mom and pop mexican joint kind of flavors. I finished nearly everything on my plate Pros: - Good food, HUGE portions! - Really large, plenty of seating for all sized parties - Full Bar - Plenty of parking - Friendly servers Cons: - After out food appeared, our server disappeared. We asked a few different people about it, and they all said they would get him, but I'm not sure what happened. There was a HUGE lull between our food coming out and our check appearing. I was joking with my friend, does this mean they don't want our money? I had to ask MULTIPLE people that I just wanted the check. I was seriously thinking of just walking out if that last person didn't appear with the check. For this, I had to knock my review down a few stars. I'm talking about a SERIOUS wait here. Our drinks were dry, our food was gone, but no server. Why wasn't there a manager around to help our poor server out if he was that busy? Would I come again? Probably not read more

Great food, huge portions, nice service! The starter (free!!) chips and salsa are really good, just try not to eat too much cuz the entrees are a lot of food. I had so much trouble deciding what to order because they have so many options. Just look at the size of their menu! I ordered the Mazatlan burrito and it was HUGE and very delicious! The steak was so good!! Definitely would recommend this, especially since you can make two meals out of it :) Our waiter was super funny and nice! Would definitely come back here if I'm ever in Arizona haha read more

This place has awesome Mexican food, complimentary homemade salsa that is the perfect level of spicy, plus a complimentary cabbage slaw side to go with chips. We got the quest fundido, came out on a skillet and was excellent. Super friendly staff also ! read more
WOW, outstanding! We were initially skeptical entering this restaurant with a line out the door and waiters moving so fast that dishes were about to fall. But we were pleasantly surprised to taste their food and get situated amidst the chaos. The ambience is very festive and their walls are decorated with cool designs. Their margaritas were ginormous and their food felt very authentic. We started off with their combination appetizer including quesadillas, nachos and good salsa/guac/chicken-filled rolls. Main dish included chicken fajitas with a plate so big, I could barely move after finishing it. I've heard that during the day, this place can feel like a fast food joint but during our dinner, we had ample time to sit and relax after spending the day touring lower antelope canyon and lake powell. Their service isn't the greatest, and we had to ask several times for simple things like water - but the food, prices, location and overall quality easily outweighed this weakness of theirs. read more

First time visiting page and was wanting Mexican food, stumbled across this place and it was great! This is true authentic Mexican food. Coming from Texas Mexican Our service was great and food was quick. If you truly like authentic then this is the place for you! If you like the fake Mexican food then look elsewhere read more

Quick friendly service. The selection of margaritas was fabulous. Nice cold beer glass as well. Food was super tasty. Got the carne asada burrito dinner, amd hubby got the super burrito Carne asada. Chips and salsa and slaw was yummy as well. Restaurant was clean. Only thing that needed a bit of attention was bathroom. No soap in dispenser but had hand sanitizer. Would come back read more

I have been looking forward to coming here for weeks since I'd confirmed by trip through here. Today was the day. The location is fairly smaller than it looked in the pictures, but still fits many people comfortably. Parking lot is in the back of the restaurant. I was pleased to be greeted and seated instantly upon entering. Soon after sitting we had chips, salsa and what seemed to be a type of Mexican coleslaw. Our waiter was not far behind saying hello and taking our drink order. I was impressed. Unfortunately it was just meh from there. The menu was huge and so many things to choose from, but very pricey. Sodas were 3.99 and only allowed one free refill. Some drinks had no free refills at all. I chose the enchilada verdes and my dad Chile Colorado, both came with rice and beans. I really wanted the guacamole appetizer, but at $12 I opted out since I knew my dad wouldn't eat much of it and I definitely couldn't do it alone ha ha ha (or could I). Our food came out shockingly fast. Like I wasn't ready lol. It looked really good, but one bite and it was Luke warm at best almost cold. The beans were over mixed and rice just ok. No real kick for being Verde sauce. My dad loves Chile Colorado and he said it tasted more like tomato sauce than anything. I took a bite of his and while meat was good and tender the sauce was lacking flavor. All in all it was an ok meal but definitely not worth the price for me. My favorite thing g of the meal was the coleslaw. I loved the jalepenos mixed in, great flavor and crunch. It paired real well with the chips. read more
Better Mexican food than home! I thought Colorado has great Tex-Mex fares, or maybe I don't venture out enough back home. But THIS El Tapatio in Arizona beats the chain at home! Ambience, setup, and feel were all comparable and familiar. The first thing we noticed different was how HUGE the menu was! But that didn't prepare us for how HUGE the plates and portion of foods would be!!! When all laid out on our patio table and taken a bird's eye view, the spread looked beautiful (don't believe me? check out my photos!) I started regretting how far the spread stretched and how heavy the plates are to pass around 'cause I couldn't taste everything fast enough! Whatever I put in my mouth, though, was amazing. From the piping hot cheeses to the ultra soft re-fried beans, the ratio of stuffed things and the flavor of grilled meats were all perfect. The servers know how good their stuff was and all carried that confidence in them. I'm that close to relocating ;-) read more

Ok, here's the deal. We were staying in Page for four nights this January 2024 and wanted Mexican food so we tried a Mexican restaurant that was ok. Then we tried a different restaurant, this one, El Tapatio, the second night. The food was outstanding! Our server Carlos could not be topped. So guess what, we came back for a second night to the same restaurant. We had Eduardo as our waiter, and he was outstanding!. so guess what, we came back a third night! Carlos waited on us, and again the food, the beverages, the wait staff, the ambience, was outstanding. Give this restaurant a try! Oh, and not to be forgotten, Daniel R. cleaned up our dishes from our table and was so very nice and thorough. Thank you. read more

That lunch size! Food was great. Definitely had left overs. The El Pollo Diablo was spicey and savory! The El Trio was a great mix. Chips & salsa were on point. I'd say it's pretty authentic Mexican food with an authentic vibe. Now the drinks: if you get a margarita of any kind the small is still a little big but who can complain?! The tequila was the perfect amount... a little more than most place (not complaining) but I'm not a fan of syrup drinks so there's that. My friend did enjoy his marg. and would have probably got another one. The service was very quick which was nice for those who want to get in and out....I'd go back read more

Craving some Mexican while in Page and decided to try this place out based on the Yelp reviews. The place was busy at 8pm but we got seated within 5 minutes. This restaurant is one of six El Tapatio restaurants, this one being one of two restaurants in Arizona. The decor was very bold and colorful with handpainted Mexican art on the walls, tables and chairs. Of course they had Tapatio sauce on the table, how could they not? It's a staple! As we sat down, immediately we received chips and salsa. Wow, I've never gotten food that fast before! We've barely sat down. They have a plethora of creative margs and I opted for the blueberry one. I was imagining smashed blueberries with a salted rim but I was sadly disappointed! It was a light brown and heavy on the blueberry syrup. I took a few sips and I couldn't drink anymore. We decided to share the Tapatio Flaming which they actually light on fire when they bring it to your table! This thing was huge and can easily feed four ppl. It had the works with chicken, skirt steak, bacon wrapped shrimp, veggies served with rice, beans and tortillas. This was good for the money and we had to eat this the next day. It was so much food!
