Like most Houston residents I have frequented numerous taco trucks in the city and had great experiences at all of them. So, I expected more from this one. For an order of 11 tacos, we received two containers of green sauce and two containers of red sauce. When we asked for more green, we managed to get one more. Why so stingy with sauce? I've never experienced that before. We ended up eating our last few tacos dry. The chorizo was also astoundingly oversalted. I hope that was just an error that day. I don't see a reason to come back here when other great (and inexpensive) taco trucks exist. read more

Still 5 stars... I have become a regular here and go there atleast once a week. My go to dishes are fajita tacos with cilantro and onion and a dash of the green sauce. The pollo and barbacoa tacos (or quesadillas or burritos or tortas) are just as good as ever. I still have to try newer things here but I am sure that the quality and taste are consistent. The crowds have been increasing here and they run out of certain items later at night ... I hope it does not cause a reduction in their quality. I do wish sometimes that the surroundings (as in the gas station where the truck is) were just a trifle cleaner. Nothing wrong with it as of now though. read more

Not a bad place. It's located in a very centrally populated area next to a gas station so, if you're near the area and need to fill up on gas? Pretty good place to stop and pick up a quick bite to eat. Careful though, it does get a bit crowded, but after you order they give you a number and feel free to sit in your car and wait it out--they'll megaphone when your order is ready! My human and I went here for our second tacos of our taco date night. And we decided on fajita, chicharron, and barbacoa tacos. The pricing isn't on the side panels though, so that was a bit confusing and I was unsure if they offered bean soup until near the end when I realized other customers getting it. Maybe it was somewhere on the side...must have missed it. The wait wasn't that long, and when we got them it came with limes, and the two different salsas, might want to ask for napkins though! The corn tortillas were really good, well toasted and crunchy--but if we were to rate the three tacos we are we'd probably put barbacoa at the top. Fajita as the second and chicharone as the third. Fillings were overall decent with the onions and cilantro, but a bit lacking in some flavor and a tad greasy for my taste. Butttt I think the biggest downer was these tacos were adorable...as in cutely tiny, you're probably gonna be able to down 4 per person easily. So don't feel guilty on eating more! Located at the corner of Richmond and Dunvale at the Chevron gas station, this is my favorite food truck. I've been coming here for years and every time I venture out and try something new, I get disappointed and return with a guilty conscious. The real winner of this truck is not the tacos but the hamburger. It is hands down my favorite street burger. The crazy thing is, it's not a handmade patty or on some gourmet bun, but whatever secret crack sauce they put in it is enough to keep me returning and spreading the gospel! The chicharrones taco and the chorizo is also their classic hits. Remember to ask for their pickled red onions. And grilled onions!!! Mouth watering! The salsa verde and the the red salsa is amazing. Try their quesadillas. It does not disappoint. I can go on and on but you'll have to try it out for your self. There's usually a line but it goes very quickly. El Taquito has easily become my fav taco truck! The staff is polite, the tacos are great and the salsa is bomb! The tacos are mini, so I usually order 4 and I'm pretty full! I've only tried fajita and pollo, can't give my opinion on others. This is the first truck that I've been to where the tortillas have a crisp to them and it's literally the best idea ever. Their salsa's are fantastic. Usually, the green one is really flavorful, not much spice to it and the red is outta this world spicy. Tonight however, the green one was spicy as HELL so I guess it just depends on the night you go. There's usually always a wait, so don't stop by if you're in a rush. Barbocoa torta is best late night! Definitely get their salsa verde as it's delicious and spicy! I always try to come in earlier but not too late because my torta is apparently really popular. I'm always here on my lunch break LOL. This is hands down one of the best taco food trucks in Houston. A hole in the wall prices and they are quick but the only down side is sometimes they will mess up your order so you have to check your food to make sure you aren't missing anything. Other than that the food is SO good even though the tacos are small, they're only $1- pretty good deal if you ask me. Everything I've had on the menu has been beyond my expectations so I will say it is top 5 best tacos. REALLY GOOD TACOS. I think their tortillas are homeade. They just have a truck parked next to a gas station. They are only $1. I get like 4 to be full and 5 if I am being greedy. The chicken tacos are always good. The carne asada taco is also really good and I dont even eat red meat. You must get the onions and cilantro to really make the taco. Absolutely terrible. I have no idea if management has changed since the other reviews were written, but this was my worst taco truck experience in years. The tacos were anemic with more tortilla weight than actual filling. The torta was no different with next to no actual pork, and what WAS there was cooked to death. Their taco is the type that keeps reminding you of the taste and the pleasure of it for a long while after. Every time I get the urge to go back and order again like it's an addiction! I accidently found this place w my friend and I'm so grateful that I did. They make the tortilla crispy and seasoned, which might be why it's much better than Tierra Caliente imo. This truck is my fav taco truck in westhiemer area FOR SURE. I've tried the fajita tacos, al pastor tacos, chicharron tacos, gypsie-toni tacos, the quesadillas, and the hamburger! All pretty good, but I only get tacos after having tried the other items only once. They are fairly priced although you can find cheaper (and even better) tacos if you head toward the sketchier part of Houston. This place tho is consistently good! and their salsa verde is the titts. I highly recommend asking for extra green salsa especially if you like spicy food bc it def is spicy and has a kick. I just wish the chicks working the window were nicer.. i feel like they are usually in a bad mood and arent pleasant. especially if you ask for things like extra salsa or grilled onions (which i never have had an issue with paying for btw, not asking for free anything). read more
