The service and ambience were really nice but unfortunately none of us really enjoyed the food. I had the enchilada sampler [?]. It had a cheese enchilada, a bean enchilada, a chicken enchilada, and a beef picadillo enchilada. The chicken tasted like it came out of a can [very plain] and was my least favorite. Normally chicken enchiladas are my go-to. The cheese one was my favorite. My son is a taco fiend and ate his tacos with gusto, but he says he didn't really like them. [He's 10, who knows?] My husband got the fajitas and felt they were boring. We tried the guacamole and it was brownish. I'd recommend to the restaurant that they might do table-side guac so you could see it was fresh. We also had margaritas and they tasted mostly of sour mix. read more

I liked the salsa dipping sauce. plain simple and not too hot The side of guacamole, I thought it was a bit boring. I thought it was a little greasy, maybe needed cilantro garlic. When you first walk in you feel that you were transported to Mexico. Decorations hanging from ceiling with nice Mexican decor. Seated immediately in a comfortable booth. The waiter took our drink order of water and a strawberry Margarita which was tasty. Warm crispy chips and salsa were served upon sitting. My husband and I both ordered the chicken chimichanga. The sauce was amazing and the white meat chicken was juicy. It was accompanied with refried beans and salad. We had to finish off the meal with fried ice cream. Citizens of Kentucky can rejoice as they no longer need to visit Mexico for excellent Mexican cuisine as El Torito is fantastico! Upon arrival I was immediately greeted and welcomed into a mexican vibe. Ordered a huge patron strawberry margarita at a super low price (see total ck attached) then warmed to crunchy chips with salsa. Then, migrated to chicken enchiladas filled with jucy white meat chicken.fantastic. Finished my fiesta with fried vanilla ice cream rolled in corn flakes with whipped cream sitting in a crunchy taco. read more

On a recent trip to Paducah we were looking for some local Mexican food for dinner. (This should come as no surprise to anyone if you're paying attention.) Wifey found El Torito was less than a mile from our hotel. Just how easy was that? It was a Friday evening and they were busy, but we walked in and were seated immediately. The menu at El Torito is ENORMOUS and, if I may, a bit intimidating. The décor is very bright, vibrant, and colorful. El Torito has a great party/fun vibe to it. I don't recall our server's name, be he was AWESOME. He joked with us and we had a great time. In no time we had a basket of fresh chips and salsa and our drinks. The chips were fresh as in "still warm" (the way they should be) and the salsa was On Point! There are several dining areas at El Torito. We were surround by quite a few people who were having a great time. Yea, it was noisy, but it was FUN noisy. It wasn't conversations you really don't care about noisy, like "I really didn't care to know about some strange lady's doctor appointment and by the way, she picked up some cottage cheese on the way home...and Eleanor, did you hear what Sheila said about Joanne! *Gasp* How could she even?!?!".". This was people having conversation over awesome food and a killer margarita noisy. I was fascinated by the Pollo Mango on the menu, and my fascination absolutely got the best of me. Grilled chicken breast topped with apricot and mango roasted chipotle sauce. It was the apricot and mango chipotle sauce that caught my attention more than anything. Fast forward about 10 minutes and our awesome server (whose name we either never got or don't recall) delivered our food. He did it with a smile, made a corny joke, made us laugh, and disappeared....only to return a couple minutes later with drink refills. The Pollo Mango was blow-my-mind awesome. The sweetness of the apricot and mango coupled with chipotle was something I never saw coming...and it was MAHVELOUS. Each and every staff member was hustling keeping things going. Whether is was delivering food, clearing tables, or seating incoming customers, this restaurant was constantly in motion. I know there's a Mexican restaurant in just about every town, and we've been to many, many, many, many......a lot of Mexican restaurants. It's the ones that stand out that make a difference. El Torito is absolutely one of the stand outs. I hope to visit here again some day. read more

All around solid experience. We had four entrees and all were pretty good. Prices are darn low, but trade off is quality. My moljate had the smallest shrimp I have ever had in one, but it was also almost 1/2 the price they usually cost. Service was overall solid and food was good, so would definitely come back. My only gripe is the general quality of the steak. On service, we were not asked whether we wanted flour or corn tortillas. read more

We stopped here off I - 24 for lunch as recommended by several of you. They have a nice very reasonable lunch menu for weekdays. We were there on a Sunday. Portions are great and the food very tasty. Best Mexican food we've had in a long time. The queso with chorzio was delicious! The chips were thin, fresh and crisp. The salsa kid a nice kick to it. Hubby had the Fiesta Fajitas, well seasoned and a huge plate of it. I had the Molcajete, which was nicely spicy, and plenty for leftovers. If/when we come through Paducah again, we will be back! The art on the wall was beautiful & the food was delicious. It's hard to find a good chicken street tacos but we ordered a little street taco for my two-year-old and I ate his, I'm not gonna lie. LOL I had very low expectations because the town was small but if for some reason you're in this area give it a try you won't be disappointed. If you read any of my other posts I really don't care too much about customer service but there's was great. The waiter spoke English and Spanish to us. The restaurant is authentic Mexican food and has a Tex-Mex feel for Americans too. That know what they are doing. Very professional- I don't know the culinary word for professional. A 5-star Mexican restaurant in Paducah?! I lived 18yrs in the area and legitimately thought this was a joke, but El Torito is beyond incredible, and the BEST Mexican restaurant we've had in this area in ages, if not forever! So let's address the obvious COVID concern--the staff wore their masks. Customers? Not so much, but they didn't make a fuss. Hand sanitizer is located in the foyer as well as inside, and a paper towel dispenser is actually located outside before you even walk into the building, and I thought that was thoughtful and neat--so incoming patrons don't have to touch the door. Smart!! And from what I understand, they were the first to offer to-go margaritas. That alone is worth 5-stars! Service was a bit slower than your typical Mexican restaurant, and after I took the first bite, I understood why. They take the their time, and I would rather wait a little bit longer for food with amazing flavor than have my order on my table and it be bland. We're not talking half an hour later, but after that first "Where's my food" thought, add 5 minutes. Trust me. It is absolutely worth the wait and I can see why they have been voted the best Mexican restaurant two years in a row!! Excellent value, huge menu, extremely well Prepared dishes with generous servings. Price is great for the value. Very clean and expertly managed. We like the margaritas! Also the chimichangas received thumbs up. I loved the chori polo--one of the best of that dish I have had, with the chicken grilled moist not dry. The nachos are a huge serving too. We were on a road trip from Nashville to Saint Louis. Good ratings steered us to El Torito. What a find!! Coming from California and traveling a lot I am extremely picky about Mexican food. Well I was amazed, to the point of interviewing some of the employees as to their secrets. I had the Grande Chicken Burrito. It was amazing. It had a very light white cheese tomatillo sauce on top (chef says "the cheese is very expensive" lol). The burrito itself was mostly perfectly seasoned grilled chicken and veggies. The taste was great and I walked away not feeling bloated with unnecessary beans and rice. This is a must do for me in the future!! read more

My husband and I ordered the Burrito Grande and the Shrimp Fajita Quesadilla. Both absolutely amazing. This doesn't even begin to compare to what some reviewers suggested (Taco John's and Chipotle.) Way better ingredients and SO much flavor! Plus, we felt great after eating it, which is definitely a plus for a 15hr drive. This is some of the best Mexican food we've had around the country. Definitely an unexpected level of quality for us on this drive and we were so pleasantly surprised. Highly recommend and will most certainly stop over again on our next cross-country trip! read more
