Quick lunch during a lunch break and was not disappointed. I thought everything was great! Food arrived piping hot with a hot plate and was freshly prepared. I nearly polished off my plate which is uncommon for me. I usually like to have leftovers to take home. I was really impressed with the complimentary chips and salsa. I honestly feel like fresh chips are hard to come by anymore. These were warm and just cooked which made me super happy. I can't remember the last time I had that. Very busy restaurant and would love to return again to try more menu items!

We order take out and everything felt fresh, great portions and tasted really good. I dont tend to write too much on mexican places since pretty much all of them have the same dishes so theres nothing new or wow to look forward to, but their food and service were great. The one ding that I have for them is that the flavor margaritas that can be ordered to-go have to be frozen and not on the rocks, Unfortunally for those of us that dont like frozen margaritas then we are out of luck. Besides that I would order from them again.

This is the Burritos Tipicos- a delicious shredded beef and bean burrito.I added a pile of tomatoes and fresh cilantro at home.

El Toro has been one of our favorite Mexican restaurants for a while. The chips are warm, the salsa is fresh and tasty, the chimis are delish, and tonight I tried the tamales-shredded, seasoned beef, enrobed in the classic corn tamale, smothered in delicious ground beef sauce, topped with authentic Mexican white shredded cheese. It was Cinco de Mayo, so the place was crazy chaotic for the staff trying to handle an influx of phone and online orders due to Covid-19. Yes there were screw ups. Yes there was a long line and an even longer wait. But kudos go to the staff who are all adapting to everything carry-out when they are traditionally a sit down restaurant known for great food and great service. No, my food was not piping hot when I got it home. No it's not the same as sitting in the restaurant, sipping a margarita(OHmiGosh- Get the Rainbow margarita- an obsession of mine!) But I appreciated not having to cook and having a taste of many great past visits with family and friends. Plus, they sell half gallons of margaritas - frozen or on the rocks- to go. Say it with me - Rainbow margarita!! Give your local restaurants some love- and pack some patience-we are all venturing into new territory. And be thankful you didn't get stuck eating ANOTHER meal you've had to source, cook and then clean up after.

Kids Chimichanga and Fries: you get such a big portion for $5.99! What an amazing deal

The food here was fantastic, the service not so much. We went on a weekday around 4:00pm. There was about 3 other tables that were seated, but the service was so unbelievably slow!

One of the better, Mexican restaurants that we have nearby. The food is good and the prices relatively cheap.

Is this old school "Mexican Restaurant? The plates look like they are straight out of Chi-Chi's or is it real authentic Mexican?

I don't think it's old school. We eat there regularly and thoroughly enjoy our meals. The margaritas are fabulous, too!

This use to be a fav of ours (the salsa is literally my fav salsa in my area of restaurants and there are a lot!) but each visit they seem to forget more and more. For a place with a free salsa bar they are the WORST on forgetting stuff. So today I placed an order, you usually get a teeny tiny salsa and a bag of chips complimentary.... I ordered 5x side of extra salsa (which I was charged for) I received two salsas one tiny bag of chips. This is literally what I get complimentary at most restaurants, and you charged me extra?!?!? Anyways the hostess/waitress totally went and got me my extra salsas and another bag of chips. God love her. I left and realized omg they didn't give me my kids sopapilla (sorry if I misspelled). I had to turn around and go back. Again the lady was sweet as can be. She got my dessert and threw in some queso. But then I get home. The order for Al pastor tacos..... Said steak cooked in a spicy salsa..... nope it was dry unseasoned steak in a corn tortilla with a bunch of canned pineapples. The order I placed said it was served with pico and tomatillo sauce (received neither), and like I said COVERED in canned pineapple tidbits..... did not say that in the description. And again NO SAUCES.... My son gets mozzarella cheese sticks.... NO MARINARA like it said in the description.... The cheese sticks were so over done the breading was empty.... It was burnt cheese in a pan with no sauce. I love the food here and my hostess/server handling my order was super sweet but it's honestly the last time I let this place get one over on me on a take out order

First off, I've never seen a Mexican restaurant this packed. The place is super colorful with all the traditional décor, murals, and fun wall art. We were seated right away, and the staff was hustling the entire time. Even with how busy they were, our food came out pretty quickly. The portions were huge, and everything had great flavor. My only complaint was the mango margarita, it tasted more like mango juice than a margarita, they were skimping on their tequila apparently. They also have out several different hot sauces, which was a nice touch if you like a little extra heat. If you're visiting the Ark Encounter and craving Mexican food, I'd definitely recommend stopping here. Great food and fast service, plenty of parking too.

The restaurant itself is bright and colorful, with vibrant tables, chairs, and decorations throughout. It definitely has a fun atmosphere. I ordered the chicken fajitas with corn tortillas, and my mom ordered what she thought was a simple cheese enchilada with a side of rice and beans. Somehow there was a communication mix-up because she ended up with three large plates: one piled with rice, one piled with beans, and a third with the enchilada. It gave us a good laugh. My fajitas looked great when they arrived, but unfortunately they were missing the one thing I was hoping for: flavor. The chicken and vegetables were cooked properly, but there didn't seem to be much seasoning at all. Not even enough salt to bring everything together. The corn tortillas were also torn apart when they arrived, so they weren't very usable. I hate leaving negative reviews, but the food simply didn't live up to expectations. The service was fine and the atmosphere was fun, but the meal itself fell flat for me. Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing, but based on this visit, I wouldn't choose to return.

Very disappointing experience at El Cerro…read more Unfortunately, this wasn't just a bad visit. The quality and service have been slipping for a while now, and I've continued coming back hoping things would improve. This visit was the final straw. The problems started before the food even arrived. We were seated in what felt like the loudest and most crowded section of the restaurant, despite there being plenty of open tables elsewhere. I asked if it would be possible to move to a different area and was told someone would check. After waiting quite a while and never hearing anything back, I finally had to ask again. At that point, we were told we could move to one of the open tables, but the interaction felt dismissive, as though we were causing an inconvenience by asking. Unfortunately, the experience only went downhill from there. I ordered the Arroz con Pollo, and when it arrived, it had very little cheese on it (see photo). For a $17 plate, it needs to have at least a fraction of cheese on it that you can see. I asked for cheese on my meal because it did not come out the way it normally does. I was not asking for an extra side order. I was simply asking for the dish to be corrected. When the bill came, I was charged for the additional cheese. I explained that I should not have to pay extra for cheese when my meal had come out with little to none on it in the first place. I even offered to show the photo of the original plate, but that was ignored. Instead, I was told that charging for a bowl of cheese is their standard policy. What frustrated me most was that the server had never even seen the original plate because someone else delivered the food. Yet when I explained that this was not how the dish is normally served, I was told it was normal. As a longtime customer who orders this meal regularly, I can confidently say otherwise. There was no apology and no effort to understand the concern. The issue was never really about the charge itself. It was the attitude and lack of customer service throughout the entire visit. It's disappointing because this used to be one of my favorite local restaurants. Unfortunately, the food, service, and overall experience have steadily declined. After this experience, I don't plan on returning.
