Torta's are a Mexican sandwich typically made with a soft or crusty bread roll and filled with a variety of meats, cheeses, and toppings. La Torta Loca is serving up some of the best Tortas out there. They have incredible combinations that taste delicious especially when combined with one of the three sauces already at the table. My personal favorite being the garlic sauce. With as many options as they have and the amount of flexibility they offer with what you can add and substitute, this has easily become one of my fav spots to stop by. After an endless string of Americanized menus, it was so refreshing to try a Mexican restaurant with completely different offerings. No burritos or flautas, no chimichangas or combo platters. Instead the menu focuses on street food -- tortas, arepas, empanadas and street tacos -- all delicious and authentic. And the sweet plantains were superb! The service was quick and friendly, the atmosphere colorful and festive, and the prices were reasonable. A word to the wise, however: it's a small place with maybe a dozen tables and some bar seating, so it can get pretty stacked up during peak dinner hours. If you can avoid the crowds during off peak hours, you'll find plenty to like about this one. read more

First time here, this was the cutest hole-in-the-wall eatery we have been to. The food was delicious. It was authentic Venezuelan food, and maybe some more-southern Mexican dishes as well. Absolutely wonderful food, served piping hot. There was so much to choose from menu-wise and now I will have to return to try some of the other dishes they offer. We love Birria tacos, and while they were cooked to perfection, the sauce that came with it was a bit bland. There were no fountain drinks, the soda ordered came in a bottle with a glass of ice, which is fine but that means there are no refills. Intriguing decor. I ordered the torta (sandwich) with steak and onions - no cheese. I thought the bread should have been grilled for more flavor. I recall the tortas are made with mayo but there wasn't much of that spread on the bread. The sauce on the table improved the flavor. The torta was tasty but I left most of the bread on my plate. Margaritas were okay - not much of a kick. There was more ice in the glass than beverage. Best thing we ordered were the tortilla chips with avocado. Yum! I would eat there again and try something different. They get an A+ for branding! Memorable and artistic. The mural out front is fun and bright and inviting. The entry way has a faux plant wall that is totally Insta-worthy. The restaurant itself has the coolest vibe and awesome murals. My brother, his gf, and I went for lunch recently and loved it. The service was stellar. There are several sauces on the table, so you can customize your food to your taste (the white sauce is SO GOOD). What we ordered: -Sampler Appetizer-- fried yuca, botakitos, & sweet plantains (You could choose 3 of the following: fried yuca, mini cachapas, chips or tostones and guacamole, tequeños, fried arepitas, botakitos, sweet plantains, or elote)- Sadly, they were out of Venezuelan food, so we couldn't try several of the items we were excited for. The items we got were good, but the portions were definitely smaller than expected. The botakitos were good, but a little too simple and the sauce/salad in the bottom of the cup was not great. The sweet plantains were PERFECT. So good I ended up adding a sweet plantain and cheese empanada to my order. -the torta loca torta- HUGE, juicy, and delicious -the reina pepia arepa- Sadly, I would not order this again. It was just a little too bland. It helped to add some sauce. -a birria taco- my brother's girlfriend tried this and LOVED it. She said it was one of the best she had ever had. -a Huitlacoche taco- interesting! I would eat it again, but wasn't the best thing I had. -a pumpkin flower empanada- I had never had anything pumpkin flower before, but really enjoyed it. It reminded me a lot of a loroco flower pupusa. -a sweet plantain & cheese empanada- JUST SO GOOD -a seafood empanada- brother's gf ordered and LOVEDDD We all agreed that the empanada dough was some of the best we have EVER had!! I've gotten it quite a few times so I can definitely say that it's not always as good but it's still good. Birria tacos weren't our favorite but they weren't bad either. After seeing and hearing good reviews from lots of different folks, my girlfriend and I decided to stop by and give this place a try! We placed a to-go order. Ordering online was simple and the food was ready pretty quickly. We got to the restaurant to pick up our food, walked right in, and got our food almost instantly. The inside is decorated super well and there's some seating outside as well! Let's get to the food: everything sounded so good we couldn't make up our mind, so we decided to sample almost one of everything and split it. We got a chorizo/cheese and a shredded beef empanada. The shell of the empanada was so good and both fillings complimented it perfectly. It came with a sauce to dip them in and that was delightful. Next we had the la mexicana arepa with carnitas, cilantro and cheese with a special spicy, creamy salsa. The arepa tasted great, out of all the different meats we tried the carnitas was last on the list, but it was still tasty! (That's how good this place is) Then we moved onto the birria quesadilla. This item definitely would've been better enjoyed while at the restaurant, but we couldn't resist. Even though it got a little bit soggy by the time we went to eat it -- it was so yummy. The beef, the consume, was all extremely flavorful. We're excited to try this again when we are able to dine in. The last thing we had and the star of the show was the torta. We went with the pepito version which had steak, chicken, bacon, cheese, fries and signature sauces. When we opened the box and saw how huge this thing was we were shook, haha. Definitely bigger than my head. The torta was so good. I've never had anything like it and will for sure get it again. All in all -- this place is really freaking good! Visited the restaurant on Sunday afternoon to catch up with a friend. The restaurant was busy we got the last table. We tried sampler platter with plantains, corn cake's & guacamole. The guacamole and chips were good, but $15 for the sampler the plantains & corn cakes were really little The fried quesadillas are huge & with it being Venezuelan it's a fried corn cake shell & fresher than just tons of cheese & a meat. Wow, what a great find for when my family visits Florence! La Torta Loca is down Pleasant Valley Road from where my father-in-law lives, and my husband found it after searching Yelp on a recent visit. 250+ reviews and five stars overall! This we had to try out. On our most recent takeout order, my husband and I split the Tropicana torta, which was definitely enough for two. I really loved the mix of grilled chicken, chipotle sauce, pineapple and cheeses. It was comfort food to rave about. My favorite part of our order, though, was the La Catira arepa with shredded grilled chicken in guajillo and chipotle sauce, with grilled cheese. The thick, tortilla-like bread of this handheld delight was warm and just perfect. Loved the fillings. I might get a couple of these next time and make it a meal. We also got the sweet plantains, my favorite side dish. La Torta Loca is such a treasure. I look forward to going back very soon! read more

They are a combination of Mexican and Venezuelan food and it's just a super hit. They are located in this small strip mall of the main road that is easy to locate near the gas station. The interior ambience is good and has colorful decor. Their customer service is great. They have few vegetarian options. Their food portion is really huge and filling. We went here from work and it was filling until the next morning. They have parking in front of them. I don't know if they have vegan options or not. I also don't know about outdoor seating. This was our first time here, we did a carry out order. We have been on a super big Torta kick and this place was decently close to our house. When we got there (5 minutes past our pick up time) my torta bun was literal mush. It was so bad I literally couldn't eat it, while my spouses was slightly soggy, mine was like someone soaked it in water and then put it together. No other restaurant have we had this experience with, my torta was pretty much inedible. My spouses meat had good flavor and our chips and queso was delicious, chips were soft and great for my spouse who had sensitive teeth and always complains that chips are too hard on his teeth. A bit off of the highway (conveniently the same exit as Costcto) and in a random shopping center that doesn't augur much, this place had an extensive menu of Venezuelan and Mexican specialties with clear and interesting vegetarian options. I was offered a set of four sauces for my arepa, which are common choices in Venezuelan cuisine and they are all good so it is really hard to pick. I ended up using all four on my modest but delicious arepa domino. The taco choices included huitlacoche, a fungus that grows on corn and has an interesting earthy flavor, and the way they prepared it contrasted with the fresh fixins on top nicely. They had some beverages (though not a beverage menu I could discern) and while I was the first one in they were quickly beginning to fill up by the time I left with what looked like happy customers. read more
