The tacos are decent but the tortas are mostly bread. Margaritas are made with orange juice. The biggest problem here is that the staff will overcharge you. The restaurant has signs about specials and happy hour, but their staff does not apply those discounts to the bill. In fact, you have to walk them to the happy hour and/or special signs and explain it before they will reduce your bill. Not cool and horrible customer service. Train your staff better so your customers don't have to. read more

We shared the steak torta which was pretty large and definitely big enough to share. First time ever having a torta and likely my last. The steak / cheese was delicious but the bread was so soggy that it fell apart with every bite. The bun wasn't tasty at all. They don't give complimentary chips but we did order some with queso and those were good. Since this place is known for tortas, I don't think I see myself returning. The atmosphere was nice and the service was a bit slow for it being practically empty. I'm sure they have other good options that people may enjoy, I just don't think I will be back. read more

We stumbled upon La torta loca and the first thing I noticed was how pristinely clean it was inside. It was a little after the lunch rush so it wasn't very crowded. The food came quickly after we ordered, but I didn't find our waitress to be the most attentive. I absolutely loved the chips that came with the cheese dip and the huitlacoche taco. I found the Birria to be a little dry and lacking flavor and I did not enjoy the street corn at all. I would return solely for the chips and huitlacoche! read more

Visited this La Torta Loca location last weekend - just as excellent as the Florence location! Food was fantastic (my wife could not stop raving about the Sister Torta!), the staff was super friendly, and the location seems to be a bit bigger than the Florence one. I've been here a few times now and I am always blow away by the food and friendly staff, including the owners. My favorites include La Mexicana Arepa and the Birria Taco. The food is always so fresh and full of meat. It's so filling, I just need one item, but usually order both so I have lunch the next day. The savory (beef and cheese) plus sweet (plantain and corn) harmony is note-perfect. We then moved to the nortena torta (no cheese), which was a remarkable torta because the bread was quite airy and light, not crispy as usual. I got takeout at this restaurant and OMG, I can't say enough about the quality of the food! Made-from scratch, authentic, fresh ingredients, oozing with cheese, savory and delicious! I started with the 3-item sampler appetizer: 1) the sweet plantains were perfect -- very sweet, ripe and soft, with a sweetened cheese on top. 2) The mini cachapas were slightly sweetened small house-made cornmeal disks with melted cheese over that made for a delicious bite. 3) But it was the tequenos that really surprised me. Yes, they were cheese sticks, but very fresh, with a great cornmeal crust that didn't taste like any "cheese" sticks I had ever gotten before. For the meal I got the fish taco --fresh, well-breaded fish, the birria taco -- absolutely stuffed with meat, with a small cup of soup to dip it into, and the El Recreo Arepa. I love the Arepas here. The cornmeal "bun" is house-made and the filling is ample and flavorful. The only sour note was the I got mine with "ham," and that turned out to just be a lunchmeat-thin slice that didn't really add much to the flavor. The restaurant itself was clean and bright, with a casual eatery feel to it. And the staff were pleasant and helpful. There was a small glitch to the service, as I didn't get the dessert I ordered. I don't know if he forgot to bring one of the bags, or if I accidentally took one bag short, so I can't fault them for that one. I just wish I had gotten a chance to taste it, as everything else in this restaurant was amazing! read more

We sat at the bar on a busy Saturday night and it was fun watching the bartenders making festive drinks, including my enormous michelada. It was huge and delicious! We also had some queso with warm and tasty homemade tortilla chips. We couldn't stop eating them! For the main course we had the nortena Torta with cheese and the pabellon arepa. Both were savory and satisfying. You can tell everything is made from scratch and the prices are so reasonable for the amount of food you get. My husband and I recently ate here twice on a vacation to Cincinnati. The empanadas and margaritas were wonderful. We enjoyed the fact that they had so many varieties of both. We also enjoyed the guacamole con chicharron appetizer. It was so tasty, and filling. Another night we enjoyed the tortilla chips and queso dip. The service was good, a little slow at times, but they were busy. It had a nice , clean , festive atmosphere. We are always up for good Mexican food and this place did not disappoint.
