Not for my family. Just finished a youth basketball tournament and wanted to take the family out to celebrate. Wanted to try something new and local in Blair. Arrived at 7 o'clock p.m. received our meal at 8 o'clock sat for an hour when the food came out it had cooled down too much. We had already gone through 4 Servings of salsa and chips 3 drinks refilled. The friends that we came with who sat at another table and already eaten and left just as our food was coming out. I Had signal to the manager we wanted to talk to him but he went into the kitchen and started bringing the food out, but never addressed the problem. Food was too salty. We should have left Lake my wife suggested but I wanted to give them a chance big mistake on my part. We will never return. read more

Super disappointed about service the last 2 times we have been in. Javier was our waiter both times. He barely have us the time of day and we waited and waited to place our order and waited and waited for food and waited and waited for our check. We fully believe since we don't drink we get shafted. It is unfortunate. This tends to happen at Mexican restaurants a lot. Sad El Varta falls in this category now too. Thankfully the manager compensated us for part of the meal. We normally do not complain, but this has been repeat issues and we are normally good tippers. read more

This is our go-to spot when we're feeling too lazy to cook. It's five minutes from our house, and on their worst days- we'll be in there for forty five minutes max. We timed our food tonight. We sat down at 6:06PM, and literally had our food in FOUR MINUTES- five beef tacos (the special today), and vegetable fajitas with beans and rice- as fresh as can be. It's delicious every time. Some of the favorites are chicken on the beach, enchilada el vallarta, the Texas fajitas, and their burritos! you really can't go wrong here. cheers! read more

This is the best Mexican restaurant in Blair. Food comes out fast! Chips and salsa are provided for free for every table and they are tasty! At lunch you get desert nachos for free as well! I really like their Burrito el Vallarta, it is covered with delicious cheese is packed with chorizo! Chicken on the beach is also something to check out. Ordered the fajitas for 2- to go. Was a TON of food, actually fed 4 of us. They were SO nice at the counter and everything was already ready when I arrived to pick up. Have been here before dining-in, and it was equally as awesome. Will go back next time I'm in town, as my parents live here. Love it! Great service and delicious food. read more

Was it authentic? I don't know, probably not. Was it delicious? Absolutely. This was everything I expected when we ate here. Similar to many other Midwestern Mexican joints I've been to. They had a nice margarita happy hour special going on, and the food came out hot, on time and tasted good. It seemed like one of the servers was struggling with the pace -- it was lunch time and the place was full - but our server did great. I ate here on a Saturday afternoon. I am always driving past this restaurant and thought I would give it a try. I don't think I will come back and stick to driving out to Roja in Omaha. 1. It took over 20 minutes and finally a look to get our orders taken. There was one waiter on a busy Saturday lunch rush. The food was just ok, nothing to write home about. For the money it's good, but not great. 2. The food came out quickly but waiter never filled our drinks or asked if we needed anything. Thank goodness we only got water. 3. Finally, I had to go up and wait to get our check because nobody came to the table. As we were paying the waiter apologized that he didn't give us attention. Please hire more people for how busy you get. read more

This is the most authentic Mexican food I have ever had! I ordered the Molcajete and couldn't eat it all. Definitely enough for two people. The meats were perfectly cooked and very flavorful. I'm from California and expect my Mexican food to be authentic. That can be hard to find in the Midwest but this restaurant is a happy exception. I ordered chilaquiles and they were excellent. Wonderful meal here yesterday with my sister as we were visiting Blair. The pork carnitas were so good, with excellent frijoles, rice and guacamole salad. Top-notch service by Sarah in a lovely atmosphere. Wish we'd have had time to linger longer there. Definitely worth a trip to Blair! read more

Although we got good service and the restaurant was clean, the food was certainly not like any Mexican food I'm used to. Tomato based sauces were sweet to the point of being sugary. One combination meal was so soggy that the tostada couldn't be picked up. I've also never had broccoli added to any Mexican dish I've had. A spinach topping that was basically frozen spinach cooked in butter didn't go over well either. Overall it just seemed like the plates we were served were experiments gone bad. Of the four meals we were served, only one was actually finished and it wasn't that great. read more

Not only am I from San Diego, I am married to a Mexican who worked at his mother's three restaurants. That food is as far away as authentic as you can get. It was disgusting ground beef soaked in cheese with ketchup for salsa. Absolutely no flavor. We gave it to our dogs. read more

Met a friend for lunch the other day and it was absolutely excellent all the way through. First of all, every person working in the restaurant had a smile on their face and was genuinely nice. But it gets better from there. The complementary chips & salsa were very good. I had the enchiladas and while they were probably not authentic they tasty and fresh. Visited this 3-month old Mexican restaurant this visit to Blair after having a bad experience at another strip-mall restaurant near Walmart. This one is excellent. Small inside, but decorated with mural paintings and very clean. Chips and really good (cilantro just right) salsa hit the table before my butt hit the seat. The service was fast, cheerful, and oh-so accommodating. I had the Fajitas Vallarta, fresh shrimp and scallops seared with caramelized onions and peppers served up with corn tortillas. (yah, per our request and hard to find in this part of the country it's usually only flour). Spouse ordered Poblana peppers stuffed with cheese. Portions were big, nicely presented unlike some Mexican restaurants where you cannot tell what's under the sauces. Spouse's sauce was different -- spicy and tasty. My fajitas were very good and the onions were perfectly caramelized. Everything came out fast, hot, sizzling. We did not have mixed drinks, but the others having drinks nearby looked great and big sizes. Been to ALL the Mexican restaurants in Blair and this is by far the best. We will be back. Sign on the door advertised pineapple fajitas with choice of meat; I want to try those! Price was good and service very very good. Highly recommend. read more
