I…read morewanted to provide my son quality time, because I was so, so busy with his younger brothers, premature twins. Not only did Vernetta fulfill this need, etc. for him (his time), but she also included my twins. When the twins got old enough to climb out of their play pen, Vernetta was not only very understanding about it, but she and the other moms were very helpful. There were times when the kids in the dance/gymnastic class would sit in a circle. Yes, this was the time my other two sons would join in and sit with the group and they would be excited when their brother would win "dance bucks" to redeem for prizes. Ms. Vernetta was so positive, patient, empowering, etc. I can't say enough about her. Yes, indeed, she influenced their lives a great deal. Mike Jr helps out the Chicago community and also teaches (at the catholic university) and our twin sons, David and Robert, also do comparable work /help with the community and work in Washington D.C. Although our sons live so far away from us, we are grateful they had a nice, positive beginning and were around such positive people, like this dance teacher/mom group. Thank you so much, Venetta. You have touched our lives and continue to do the same for others.

The studio graciously allows children to borrow everything needed to participate (ballet shoes, tap shoes, leotards all in various sizes). Young children receive "ballet bucks" for class participation and doing/bringing back "homework" (a coloring page). She has older students help teach the younger classes. This allows for a much larger teacher/student ratio needed for the "littles" to have a successful class. This strategy also provides older students with leadership skills and practice with asserting themselves and directing others! I am thrilled to have found this sweet little neighborhood studio. PS the music is darling!

Initially, there's always that feeling of doubt and self-consciousness about being in your own body, but Nico does an incredible job at creating a safe space to practice and express, and with no judgement, all encouragement. It doesn't matter whether you're just starting to learn the art, or getting back into it after years, Nico is there to support your growth. Would absolutely recommend taking a class from Nico and the Break-5-8 organization, they know exactly what they're doing, and you're for sure going to receive value!

He used slow-mo video to show me what was up. He demonstrated how it's done correctly. He is very patient, technical, and encouraging. He delivered on everything I was looking for!

From Patrick the Bank Robber's bad jokes, to crazy balancing acts from Circus Mafia, to a "sirlesque" headliner, to a sexy strip tease by Lola herself. All the performers are great at what they do! I have been to two of these shows, and I always leave smiling and happy. If you're looking for a really fun date night that will blow your guy's mind, pick up some tickets, they will LOVE it! Both shows I have been to have been at the House of Blues - at the 5th Street entrance in their smaller room with a stage. It's the perfect size for a show like this. They have VIP and General Admission. VIP just gets you a chair to sit on, GA is standing room only. Both are acceptable - I am short and can see just fine from standing room. Thank you so much, Lola, for bringing this show to San Diego! I'm definitely becoming a regular :)

One day, about 6 months out, my now husband decided he wanted to do a choreographed first dance - I was equal parts excited and terrified. For reference, while my husband and I are well matched in almost every aspect of life, we are terribly mismatched as dance partners. I am short, he is tall. I have a dance background and he studiously avoided any and all dancing opportunities for his entire life. Worse still, he had once taken dance lessons for a few months and had been treated so poorly that he was highly reactive/sensitive about the entire process. I knew our instructor would have to be talented, patient and somehow able to bridge our physical and emotional gaps - it seemed an impossible ask, but Katie was able to do all these things and so much more. She perfectly brought my husband up to speed, always encouraging and quick to pivot when a different style or technique was needed. She gave us a thorough foundation and then built upon it seamlessly through our custom choreography. She even built us a song medley to use for our wedding! In the course of a few short months we not only learned to dance, but how to dance together and my husband was positively overflowing with excitement to "perform" at our wedding! The dance was a resounding success by any measure, but more importantly rehabilitated my husband's interest in dance as he now wants to pursue social dancing as a couple! I couldn't be any more satisfied or more grateful for Katie's efforts on our behalf. My advice is to book her early, sign up for the 12 lesson package and enjoy this special time before your wedding like we did. Who knows, maybe we will see you on the dance floor!

We were stressed because we only had a few weeks left before our wedding, but they were able to make it work. Liza and mark are amazing choreographers that taught us our full 2 minute dance in 4 sessions. They listened to our song the first day we went in and were able to choreograph 45 seconds on our first lesson off the top of their heads. It's nice having both Liza and Mark there to show us how to do the coupley moves and bounce ideas off each other. They were great at breaking down the dance into easy to digest steps. We are so happy with how our dance turned out. I like that they come up with the entire dance for you but that they are also very open to your ideas too, for example we saw some cute moves on tiktok that they were able to incorporate into our dance. Highly recommend.
