When she got back we gave her our drink orders, our appetizer orders, and our entree orders. A few tables were sat after ours but handled by a different waitress and all of their appetizers and food came out before ours. Not a huge deal but aggravating. When the table that was sat after us and ordered way after us got their food I inquired with the waitress about our appetizer and she said it would be coming up soon. I feel like that most have been when she put our order in because about 10 minutes later we got our app and about 15 minutes after that we got our dinner. Overall we were there for 2 hours for what should have been less than an hour visit. If the food wasn't so good, I would have given up on this place a long time ago.

On Friday nights both areas are open and serve from the same menu. We decided to sit upstairs in the Tavern which we had to ourselves. We had a great waitress who shared all the specials, drinks, and went through the menu with us sharing favorites. We both decided on Fish and Chips as that's what we came for. Very good choice - the cod fillets were tender and well cooked and came with thick cut Parmesan French fries and smashed mint peas. We said "smashed mint peas"?? It's more of a garnish but delicious - and they are! Excellent experience. The ambiance is fun with lots of fun posters, objects, and a talking skeleton. We really enjoyed ourselves.

So the family came to see our youngest daughter In Elizabeth City. If you have never been to…read moreElizabeth City I can tell you that there is not a lot there but there is this spot called the Mills Downtown Bistro. We visited this eclectic, intimate little spot on a Friday night. We got there just in time to get a table. This place is small, it seats maybe 60 people. It has that homey, country feeling with old style tin ceiling tiles. I felt like we were in a small tavern restaurant in the French countryside. By the look of this little store front restaurant you would think the menu would be the usual bar food. How surprised I was to see a fine dining menu. I order the sweet potato risotto with white wine and rabbit sausage. Let me tell you. This was farm to table fresh. The risotto was a little stiff for me but the sausage made up for it. Savory with a hint of spice on the finish made this sausage melt in your mouth good. My daughter ordered the apple crepe (If you like crepes they have savory and sweet) it was excellent other than the apples weren't peeled so the texture was a little off putting. But I still give them five stars for serving fine french style dining in downtown Elizabeth City!

This was the worst meal we have ever had. A McDonald's hamburger is much better than the burger that we were served. We came from out of town looking forward to the whole dining experience based on the wonderful reviews and it was a massive disappointment all around. The salad was small, missing key ingredients advertised on the menu, chicken portion meager and dry, salad dressing tasted terrible. Even the special seasonal tea was not good. A waste of time and money. Left hungry and wishing we went to a fast food drive- thru instead.

It's been probably a decade and a half since I've been to a Panera. I used to live very close to…read moreone, and back when I worked at the bank our regional manager would always bring Panera bagels in for our monthly meetings. I was actually tasked with bringing snacks in for the faculty at my daughters school and decided to bring in bagels, memories from when I worked at the bank. While I was browsing and placing my order for tomorrow I decided I wanted to go there today! My daughter and I arrive in the drive through and I honestly didn't know what I wanted. We took a minute looking at the drive through menu but there is SO much on that menu that it was a bit overwhelming so we started looking through the app (that I had downloaded a few hours before). After we placed the order it was done in like 3 minutes tops. The look of the building and the parking lot looked really nice and well maintained. Overall I spent $30 on two drinks, two soups, and two cookies. I still think that their prices are a little steep. The cookie itself is almost $5 and a drink that I would consider a size small is over $3. And the soup bowl is $8. Good for a treat but would get rather expensive if you were picking this up on a regular basis. The opposite end of this is that I ordered 4 dozen bagels for less than $50, so in that sense it was rather affordable. They also have a sip club where you can spend $15 a month and get unlimited self serve beverages. That is something I thought about for a bit because I do really enjoy a fountain drink, lemonades and such... but I wanted to try it out before I decided on that.

There's never a long wait. The employees are nice and the food is great. I never had a bad meal…read morehere. We love to go to Panera.

On Saturday morning my wife and I decided to try out the newest restaurant in town, skipping lunch and jumping onto the waitlist just added to the excitement. Although Texas Roadhouse has been open for about a month now, they still seem to be packed nightly! We had no trouble finding a spot to park and got in line with everyone else. The outside of the building adds to the excitement and experience, playing classic country and honky tonk. Its style is spot on and adds to the legendary character. After the obligatory amount of time passed my wife and I were shown to our seats, our table was a little dirty and the floor was covered in trash. The appetizer plates were dirty and there was no silverware, but all things considered it was no big deal. After Al a busy restaurant is a good restaurant for the customers and the employees. We ordered our drinks and a blooming onion, the drinks arrived rather quickly along with the replacement plates. We went ahead and ordered our dinner, I ordered a 16oz sirloin rare Pittsburgh style, baked potato and some broccoli, along with a side of horseradish and a side of sour cream. My wife ordered a 8oz sirloin medium rare, baked potato and mixed vegetables. Our waitress took our orders and that was the last time we saw her for the next hour or so. Our blooming onion came and looked delicious! We were both playing a little trivia game and began to dig in. The crunchy parts were good, but sadly the onion. Was both over cooked and undercooked. We ate what we could and did enjoy the sauce, It's a spicy sauce that pairs well with the onion. Unfortunately for me I didn't foresee the lack of refills in my future. Our steaks came out within 15 minutes of our arrival so great speed, The steak was cooked to the right level and was crisp and blackened on the outside. The flavor of the steak was pretty good also, I did lack my sour cream and horseradish sauce. I made due, eating my baked potato and waiting for the waitress to return so I could get something to drink! Alas! My hope was in vain! My steak was good, it was suitably tender and the flavor was good. My wife's steak on the other hand was, how can I put this? More of the consistency of pâté that had been grilled somehow, it was a disappointment and to be honest I've never eaten a steak that had that consistency and texture. She subsided on her potato and vegetables, filling her belly with the sides and a legendary disappointment. We waited about 30 minutes after our food arrived to begin looking for our server, we had seen the excitement of two Texas style birthdays and one round of dancing! What we had not seen was our waitress, not wanting to be rude and just walk up to the waitress stand, I waited for a manager to pass and I stopped her to let her know our concerns, I had to inform her that I was thirsty and had not seen our waitress in about half an hour, but more of an issue than my desiccated mouth was the repulsive texture of my wife's steak, it had the consistency on boiled chicken liver, mealy and squishy texture that was completely unpalatable. After telling her she looked at me blankly and I had to hint to her about payment, I asked wether I should just pay here or should I wait for a check, she stared at me intelligently. I had to inform her that would not be paying for the steak that was brought out for my wife. Now, I understand that a busy restaurant can be a stressful job, and management is doubly difficult. But there has to be a point in which you slow down and make sure your customers are happy, or at least alive. Instead of having the meal gratis as I would expect I was told that the steak would be removed from my check. Not the sides. I know it's a trivial thing but when you as the manager take matters into your hands you could a least not charge for the "legendary"mixed vegetables. Raw broccoli and some slightly steamed carrots don't break the bank but I digress. She came back to show me how she removed the 8oz sirloin from my check , with some apologies and asked us to try the place again. We were gracious and thankful. She left us to pay on the kiosk at the table. As I began to pay I came to the tip screen, and instead of allowing me to discuss tip with my wife in private the manager returns with the waitress, like a hound who wanted to make up for piddling on the floor. Feeling extremely uncomfortable and embarrassed I just tipped 20% and called it a night. As I sit here writing this review my mouth is still dry, although I had the manger at the table I was still not offered another drink, so I recommend this restaurant to all those who are of the toothless nature and those who perhaps bring with them a canteen of water. Please I invite you to have a legendary time.
