Elizabeth City is one of the few places that I would expect to find a decent sushi restaurant. Traveling for work so I ordered chirashi sushi take-out online for pickup. Ordering process was very easy to navigate and app was great at keeping me posted on the progress of my order. Order was ready when I got there. It was a pretty generous portion size served with miso soup and 2 containers of soy sauce. The quality was decent with generous pieces of decent quality sashimi (tuna, shrimp, mackerel, salmon, white tuna, yellowtail, kani & octopus). The tamago (egg omelet) seemed frozen because it was a bit spongy & waterlogged. This was served on a generous bed of rice sprinkled with furikake. First I have never been inside this restaurant, only had the food picked up by an employee and brought back to work. So my review is only on my order experience and the food it's self. My orders are usually large for about 6 people. I have ordered about 5-6 times and the bill has been $150 to $200 each time. The phone order has been very smooth no matter the complexity and the accuracy of the order spot on. They usually only take 15 to 20 minutes to prepare. The boxes and sides have been labeled correctly for the person ordering. Now the food. It taste fresh, eating sushi that's the main thing you want. My husband and I are very particular about restaurants we go to based on Yelp and Google reviews. Unfortunately this restaurant did not live up to its 4.7 rating for us. We got our food to go because we were hanging out at the local brewery. We ordered sushi, gyoza, fried cheesecake and icecream. It was a 20 minute wait (no biggie) when we placed our order. When my husband picked up the food it was $100. We ate the icecream first and it was good. Our friend said his cheesecake was good as well. The only problem we had was with the "sushi". First, it was warm. Almost like it had just come out of the microwave warm. This might not be a problem for everyone, but for me I prefer my sushi cold if its not fried. When we opened our 18 count sushi, it was literally sashimi on rice. I was quite disappointed at this because the take out menu was not descriptive about it not being rolled sushi. When my husband went back to the restaurant to ask why it was sashimi on rice, he couldnt even get one word out and the lady said "its sushi because it has rice on it. There's nothing wrong with your order." Confused, my husband left without a complaint. It seems obvious, with how the lady responded, that this is a typical complaint. I'm giving this restaurant a 1 star rating because the take out menu does not explain the kind of sushi at all. They are extremely over priced. And the "sushi" was WARM. read more

I was surprised to see that I had not already reviewed this restaurant as I have been here many times. Overall the sushi is very fresh. I usually get the salmon or the California roll. Their soups are also very good I have had the chicken as well as the seafood udon. The entrees from the kitchen are good as well, although the teriyaki can be expensive if your going for dinner.
