Denise, the owner of the salon, is passionate and very experienced with hair color, and it shows. She is all about keeping your hair healthy (she's right - the bleach her salon uses for highlights is very gentle!) and looking the way you want it. I wanted subtle and natural and that's what I got. I love that she doesn't stick you under the dryer to get the highlights to lift faster. That keeps your hair much healthier but every colorist I've encountered these days still does it. read more

Went to their website, set up an account, provided first name, last name, email address, phone number, birthday, retrieved the verification code from my email, entered it and then their online appointment scheduled didn't even work. Total waste of time. I'd like to think that if they knew, they'd remove the online schedule option from their website but how could they not know? If you want to get ripped off and get an out dated look go to Doreen. I got bar coded highlights from 1999 after asking for babylights. I also got charged an EXTRA $35 for her to wash and dry my hair - a service that's usually included in a $175 color service. Not here ! She also tried to double tip on my credit card after I venmo-ed her tip. Wow. Just wow. Unethical isn't even close read more

All I wanted was one thing, to donate my long hair to kids who lost their hair due to medical conditions. As I told her, it is not long enough for locks of love, but please cut off the ponytail and save it for me and I will personally take care of it. But she didn't listen or just flat out ignored me. She seemed liked she just wanted to get done with me and be done with work as soon as possible. Maybe it was because it was a Friday night, I'm not sure. Further, even after not saving the hair requested my final haircut looks terrible. Again likely to her just wanting to get out of there. read more

I've seen Denise twice. The first time was for a highlight, and the second was for a haircut. I believe Denise is the owner of the salon. The salon itself is nice and I think Denise does a decent job; however, I think her prices are out of line for Media. $130 for a partial highlight (that didn't even get all the way to the root) and $70 for a haircut? I've had better haircuts for $55 at nearby upscale salons. I really wanted to love this place since it's close by and I want to support local businesses, but sadly, I think I'm going to have to move on. read more

Denise is simply the best. I have exceptionally long hair and she definitely didn't get "scissor happy," as some stylists are inclined. I gave Denise free rein (with the only stipulation being that I wanted it to stay super long) and she was able to achieve layers and angles that I never knew were possible with long hair. I desperately needed a change without compromising length, and Denise absolutely gave my hair body and personality that it hasn't had in many years. Denise is an expert, an artist and her work speaks for itself with a legacy of experience and happy clients to back it up. 10/10. read more

I LOVE Van Gogh! I switched to this salon recently, as my mom is a faithful customer there. My first visit was for a simple trim with Dominique, and it was a great experience. Dominique and all of the ladies at Van Gogh are extremely friendly and care so much for their clients, not to mention they consistently do a fantastic job. I went back a few weeks ago for a bridal hair/make-up trial, and once again was so impressed by the entire experience. I highly recommend checking this place out! read more

I had a great experience the other day. A friend recommended this salon and has raved about it for over a year. I finally decided to call and make an appointment. They were able to squeeze me in same day (I am a procrastinator) and were so sweet. Lindsey gave me exactly what I wanted and I am so happy with my haircut. She was awesome and super easy to talk to. Jackie washed my hair and gave me the best scalp massage and bonus hand massage after washing my hair. The warm towels were a nice touch and very relaxing. The environment of the salon was relaxed and friendly. The prices are reasonable and do not break the bank. I will be coming back! Thank you for a great experience. read more

I go to Dom and she's the best. Does what you want and doesn't just chop your hair because she feels like "it's what's best" or "your hair will thank you for this." I love my cut by Dominique!! She did EXACTLY what I wanted in terms of length and style, and she was really sweet, super helpful, and gave me lots of tips. The service here overall is great too. I showed up way earlier than my appointment by accident and was prepared to wait a while, but they immediately told me they'd be able to take me right when Dominique was done her prior appointment, which was about half an hour earlier than the actual time of my appointment. I know I just got lucky with timing, but I've been to places where they take their time afterwards if they're done early. Also, the prices are really reasonable for the junior hairstylists who, from my experience, do an amazing job. I've never loved a haircut more than the one I just got here and I had a really good experience. I'll be going to Van Gogh for all my haircuts from now on and booking with Dominique! read more

I came in on a weekend as a walk-in and they were able to take me within 20 minutes. While I'm happy with the cut I received, it was basically just trimming up the cut I got 3 months ago but my regular stylist, I don't think it was worth the $75. Price seems a little high for Media - even for the University City salon I sometimes go to. Price is not worth going back. read more

I'm giving the salon two stars because I've only had one experience here and it may have been atypical considering the other more positive reviews. But, I won't be going back to find out because my visit was a ONE STAR experience. My cut was not good, even though I had photographs and the styling was terrible. I could forgive that maybe as I was a new customer. But I had my hair colored...I asked for high contrast light blonde at the tips (my hair is a copper color which I love). Again, I had a photograph of the exact application I wanted. What I got was a full foil. Color almost all the way to my roots over my whole head. I wanted to preserve my natural hair color and add something funky and I left feeling like a feathered blonde mom in the 90's. I told the stylist it's not what I wanted and she told me what I wanted wasn't possible - that I would have had to darken my hair overall to get the 'look'. Not cool to argue. Especially when it's entirely dishonest. To top it all off they made me pay full price for the color. I didn't complain about the haircut, but expected some acknowledgement regarding the color. read more

I took a chance and booked an appointment at VanGogh because the salon is in my neighborhood. I found the customer service excellent--from the point of entry at the front door, through the shampoo and cut, to the followup thank you note I received from the salon owner. Doureen is a wonderful listener who took her time, cut and styled my hair precisely as I had wished, and completed finishing details after blow dry. Doureen's time is absolutely worth the price. I will be a regular client at Van Gogh from now on...! read more

I really wanted to like this place, because the staff is incredibly friendly, outgoing, and considerate. But when it comes down to it, they are just not very knowledgeable about hair. They royally messed up my color and gave me a so-so cut. I paid $150 for everything and ended up having to correct the color myself, at home, and it came out much better than when they tried to correct it. I almost feel bad writing a negative review, but I feel as though people should know that there are probably better salon choices out there. I feel as though my stylist didn't really listen to what I wanted with my color and kind of just went her own way with it, which is not right for any salon, especially such a costly one. I wanted to give them one more try, but I don't think I'll be rushing back in here any time soon. read more
