I went in with an approved design and expected the final tattoo to match what was agreed upon. Unfortunately, the finished work does not reflect the original design. Several details were changed, altered, or left out entirely, and the end result is not what I consented to. I contacted the shop to address the issue and requested a refund due to the differences between the approved design and the completed tattoo. My request was denied. After attempting to continue communication to resolve the situation, I was blocked on social media by the shop owner, Matt Stebly, which ended any opportunity for further discussion. The handling of the situation felt very unprofessional and dismissive. I made a good faith effort to resolve this privately before leaving a public review. I would caution others to be extremely clear about expectations, get everything documented, and not assume that a reputable-looking shop guarantees quality results or good customer service. This was not the experience I expected for permanent work. This was my last tattoo that represents my children and now I have this ugly thing on my neck and have to get it fixed and spend more money ... I am absolutely devastated, he also told me that the tattoo I originally showed them is "unrealistic" he then said he would fix it himself and then blocked me .... My mother used to write notes for all her granbabies and my sister and I. It was her special gift to us, to write a lovely or funny letter, card or even random post it and end it with XoXo Mom or Mimi. Something that we will never have again. No more good morning texts or random cards. No more hugs and smiles that lights up the world. No more sounds advice that would carry us through our darkest moments and trials and tribulations. My sister and I wanted her words on us together. Something about a moment of grief as well as processing the most catastrophic and devastating moment of our lives. We only had one day as my sister lives across the United States in Oregon where we are from. We didn't just want them, we needed this moment and memory so bad right now. I reached out on Facebook in a group asking if anyone knew of a good artist or shop and the feedback was heartless and mean. Then Dalys who is the creator and owner of this beautiful shop reached out to me. She offered to open her shop on there only day off and do our tattoos for us. Finding a business that would do a good job was all we wanted but what we found was so much more. We found a studio that believes is supporting strangers in their community and offering them comfort and peace in a desperate and devastating moment. Our tattoos were done by Michaela who was kind and soft in this sad situation. She was gentle and loving, she treated us with care and compassion. She was so professional but still so hospitable and treated us like we were family. It was a beautiful moment. It was an act of kindheartedness that will stay with my sister, daughter and I for the rest of our lives. Michaela's work was just good it was beautiful and flawless. She was fast but careful and she explained everything to us as she did our art. I highly recommend this shop/studio and these two artists more than I could ever put into words. They will have a patron with me and any of my friends that will listen to me sing their praises. You should try them you won't regret it at all. Thank you so much Michaela and Dalys. I explain the situation to her and she's like you know what can you come in a little early and let me take a look at it. If I can fix it cool if I can't you can wait til the piercer gets her. I get there at 4 and they're busy so it takes 15 minutes for someone to greet me. At 4:15 I'm then informed that the "piercer"' won't be in until 5. That I know but I explain to them that someone told me to come in early. They proceed to say she had a lot of people call about piercings and she tried to call everyone back because she had to leave (family emergency). But Christy will be here at 5. Again I explain the severity of the situation to them and I'm okay with waiting on said piercer to get there. 20 minutes later she comes up to me with the phone in her hand asking if I can come tomorrow! TOMORROW! What part of this jewelry is embedded in my skin don't you get! So clearly I'm pissed at this point and I just leave because I was 2 seconds from going off on everyone. Oh let me add that to when I noticed the jewelry was stuck in my skin I wrote the piercer on Instagram (the page she gave me so I could write her with questions and or concerns). Anyway, I call a shop up the street and explain my situation to which they tell me to come on now. I get there and lay on the chair only for them to inform me that not only did Christy not use a long enough ring to combat any swelling with the new piercing but she also PIERCED MY STOMACH!!!! Mattie was so easy to talk to, friendly, compassionate and just a good human being. We talked and laughed and it really did make my whole day better. She did something really kind for me before I left and I just wanted to write this review to say thank you, encourage people to ask for her when they go in, and thank the owners for housing such a great artist in your shop. Now, as I stand on the other side of six weeks of grueling treatment in Baton Rouge, I look down at my inked defiance and feel a surge of determination coursing through my veins. Cancer may have barged into my life uninvited, but with every fiber of my being, I am ready to show it the door. The journey isn't over but FUCK CANCER. Cancer will not win.
