I ordered a bridesmaids dress through this company per request of the bride. When I talked to the consultant and gave her my measurements, I specifically told her my wedding dress (worn earlier that year) was a size 2. She insisted that I was a size 4 and that the dress would fit fine. When I received the dress in the mail 6 months later, it was HUGE. When I called to see if the dress could be exchanged, the company was not willing to work with me at all and told me to get it altered. Now I'm looking at having to spend an extra $150 dollars on a $200 dress because the consultant insisted I was wrong about my size. Extremely unhappy with this company, disappointed with their customer service, and would highly, highly recommend you go with anyone else. read more

Nope. Nope. Nope. I don't even know where to start with this business. 1,000 times just no. Run. This place ruined my wedding dress shopping experience as a whole. Rude stylists, who urged me to get custom fit, received dress and it was way too short. The owner told me once I lost (I kid you not) the "fat" around my hips the dress will fit. She said it nicely - however just no. Luckily gave refund for dress and I went elsewhere. Good riddance. If I can give any kind of wedding planning advice it is to look in Appleton at Erikas Bridal Couture. They give you champagne while you shop along with the sweetest humans that work there. I have never experienced such poor customer service. They seem to only want to text with customers, which is fine for some matters. I had an issue with damaged and badly dented cups on my dress. The dress was ordered in too large of a size which is typical of bridesmaid dresses and I expected alterations would be needed, but I also expected a little understanding from the staff here. I received none. In fact, we went back and forth texting for a month and resolved nothing. They had me go to a professional seamstress for their opinion, which I did. But in the end, that held no weight and they only went based off the opinion of the dress manufacturer, who felt there was nothing wrong without even seeing the cups. I also live three hours away and they could only base the severity of the damage off of pictures I texted them. In the end, they told me there was nothing they would do to make the issue right, they called me a liar and said that I was upset about the dress being too large "and then went on about the cups" as they so rudely put it in the text, and completely stopped texting me back after my additional attempts to contact them. To say I am disgusted with their lack of customer service is an understatement. If you are looking for a pleasant dress shopping experience, PLEASE do yourself a favor and DO NOT shop here. My overall experience was not a good one shopping for my wedding dress. I suggest to go somewhere else who has more knowledge than someone who just wants business and a sale. I was told by the bridal stylist that the dress would fit when zipped "she just didn't want to zip it up so I could breathe while trying it on." I bought the dress and living 4 states away went to a local professional seamstress and was told honey, it isn't going to zip. I had to communicate with the store manager by text and send pictures to tell me there is plenty of fabric that it will zip and to get another opinion. I got another opinion and they told me the same. I paid way too much for not a great customer service experience and had to have my dress redesigned at the zipper. I'm so disappointed. read more

Horrible customer service. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Tux was expensive and didn't fit correctly. They never adjusted anything on me when I tried it on, they just looked at me and said, "yup looks good". The "Drive Thru" tux return sucks. We had to drop the tux off between 11-3 if you're late, it's $25 fee, but I wanted to drop it off early. 9am, but I couldn't do that either. So I waited for 2 hours so I could return it on their time. read more

So I had bought a bridesmaid dress here and by the time I was done I was not happy. The staff were rude and not friendly and overall left a sour taste in my mouth. With me being on the bigger side I felt like I was robbed. Overpaid for the dress. I was going to give them one star but really liked the seamstress as she made me feel good and also made me feel pretty so for that I'm giving two stars. Be weary when altering purchased dresses at this store. I was very happy with the dress that I purchased. However, Ashley the saleswoman urged that I purchase the dress right away since they might sell out and they do NOT offer holds (not even until the next morning). I was really surprised at that fact, but I was ready to make the purchase on a dress that was a size 12 (I'm usually a size 4), but Ashley assured me that the alterations would cost 400 dollars max. So I agreed to purchase the dress as long as they could alter it, I rushed in the next morning and paid cash. When I came back for my alteration appointment, they were charging me 700 dollars ~ nearly double what I was quoted and the cost of the dress! I was very disappointed. I am writing this because I wouldn't want any future bride to go through this situation-and it will happen! I went to a private seamstress in town and she is doing the alterations for $199, so yes I do believe that this store is scamming brides. read more

For guys who still have a year or two of prom left, dont rent your tux from elegant occasions. Not only are they wickedly overpriced ($200 for one day?) They don't take their time at all the fitting. I was given a tux that had sleeves inches longer than my arms, and pants twice my size. When there was a misunderstanding about their hours and I didn't return my suit in the 3 hours that they are open on Sunday, they gave me a late charge of $55. When I called to explain the misunderstanding and that my tux did not fit me in the slightest, the receptionist responded with "I'm sorry but that's not our problem". Elegant occasions did nothing but take advantage of me, and I wouldn't wish anyone else to be out $255 because of the lazy women that work there. read more

I am very dissatisfied with my experience with Elegant Occasions & I haven't even received my dress yet! It's just one thing after another with disappointment & their horrendous customer service. To begin with, I purchased my dress during my third appointment. During my first two appointments I was continually reminded of a discount I could receive for being a new customer. Of course, during my third appointment when I intended to purchase the dress I was told I couldn't receive the discount because the dress was not purchased during my first or second appointment. However, I was never given that information by my consultant Kristy. Since I was not given the pertinent information, I requested Kristy to speak to the store manager but the manager would not honor the discount despite their own employees lack of giving proper information. I felt as if I was being penalized for not rushing into a decision and buying the dress immediately. It felt as if it was a tactic to push a sale, not something to welcome you as a new customer. But I loved the dress & decided to buy it. Purchasing the dress was a mistake. I was told my dress would arrive at the end of March or mid April as I'm having a destination wedding & leaving at the beginning of August 2015. However, Elegant Occasions didn't call me until the end of April, this month, to inform me that now my dress is not arriving until mid June! On top of that Kristy, my consultant, was very short during the conversation & seemed as if she was in a rush to get off the phone. One of their employees who answered the phone informed me that she was busy helping other customers, although I returned her call about 1-2 minutes after she had called me. It seemed as if customers in the store were more important yet I'm already an existing customer. Being delivered bad news is one thing, it's another thing when the customer service is terrible when the bad news is being given. Additionally, during all of my appointments altering my wedding dress was always discussed. However, I was never told that Elegant Occasions doesn't alter dresses. It was only during our phone conversation about my dress arriving late that I was told to call my seamstress to reschedule my appointment for alterations. Since I was never given information that they don't alter dresses, I clearly didn't have an appointment scheduled with someone so I of course stated that I had planned on Elegant Occasions doing the alterations. It was only then that Kristy informed me I could call someone they recommend ("The Alterations Lady") to schedule an appointment in mid June or of course I could go with a choice of my own. So now not only is my dress late but I feel like I have to scramble and rush to find someone to alter my dress if and when it arrives in mid June! I understand that a dress arriving late is a little bit out of their control but how can their employees clearly not communicate they don't do alterations! There is a serious lack of professional customer service at this store & a serious lack of communicating pertinent information that is required if someone wants to purchase a gown from this store. I am dreading any further communication with this business as I have a feeling it won't be positive. Purchasing my wedding gown should be a pleasant experience to remember but this is not. I just want to pick up my dress & be done with this business. I unfortunately will not be recommending Elegant Occasions to anyone. read more

I went here over the weekend to buy my wedding dress and it was absolutely wonderful! I had Heather as my consultant and she was so helpful. Before I went in I made an appt and explained that we were going to Vegas in 4 months... which means I didn't really have time to order a dress. So Heather pulled a ton of floor models from old stock and I ended up falling in love w/ a current stock piece and they allowed me to buy that one. They even kept it in my price range of $300! All the consultants were wonderful and helped out and the general mngr even stopped by a few times. I felt so welcome and even though my nerves were a bit high they really made me feel comfortable and beautiful for my big day :) read more

I was in contact with this store after finding a sample dress they had listed on Ebay. I messaged the seller and told her that I lived nearby and wanted to try on the dress before buying it online so she replied with the store phone number and told me to make an appointment. The day before my appointment they called me to tell me that they sold the dress to an in store customer (prior to the online auction ending, this was not a "buy it now" item). Which is against the Ebay seller policy. I have made formal complaint with Ebay and plan to get the word out anywhere else I can. I spent over two hours today at Elegant Occasions trying on bridesmaid dresses. The store was small and overly crowded with TONS of gowns, so at first I was skeptic. Oh my gosh was I wrong. We had a clerk I believe by the name Laurie. She was so helpful but not pushy. She made sure that we had everything that we needed and went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable. I'm struggling with weight issues and she was honest about what looked good in a kind way. Even though we found similar dresses slightly cheaper at Thelmas, this service was worth it. The wedding gown and all 4 bridesmaid dresses will be bought here so they get the business. Nothing like spending uncomfortable hours with people who genuinely care and want to help! read more

I bought my wedding dress here. It was the second dress I put on. The sales lady was super nice and helpful. Was there for like three hours. The dress I wanted was a sample gown, so it was originally a $1500 dress and I got it for $500. I was indecisive and left the store, went to another store and the next day came back and bought the dress. They were super accommodating and got me in the next day to try it on again and make my decision. They worked with my schedule as I was out of town and worked with my parents for them to pick it up as I was traveling with my future husband at the time and didn't want him to see the dress. I got my wedding dress at Elegant Occasions this weekend. I was with Ashley and she was very pleasant to work with! She got my style right on based on a few pictures that I sent her but was open to me trying on a variety of different styles without making me feel rushed. I left on Saturday without buying one because I had an appointment at another place. My experience at Elegant Occasions in Wausau, WI was AWFUL! I was in touch with Ashley for several weeks before the day of my appointment and was feeling very excited. Myself and 3 friends got there about 15 minutes early and expected to wait. I had also spoke with Ashley about my budget prior to my appointment and I believe this is when she decided I wasn't worth her time! She pawned me off on another girl and sent me to the basement to the discount dresses and never did a thing! The dresses were dirty and ugly! I was made to feel like dirt! The service here was terrible. The girl helping me, Sam, did not help me in and out of dresses, I had to ask my bridesmaids to help me. Sam keep leaving for long periods time. She kept bringing dresses with the same qualities that I said I didn't like. Never offered any accessories, my bridesmaids had to go find some. When it was my bridesmaid turn to try on dresses sam was not there. When I went to buy my dress they made me pay $50 fee for not purchasing it in full. Sam was not helpful, slow, and didn't know anything about the products. read more

This place is a joke. I was recently the Best Man in my brother's wedding and we all got our tuxes from Elegant Occasions and it was a mistake. We all got measured so they could get our stuff in the right sizes but that did not happen. There was something wrong with almost everyone of our tuxes, the sleeves on of the shirts were all the way down to the guys knees, one guy couldn't get a jacket because they "didn't have his size" and he wears a common size, someone else received a dirty shirt. It was such a hassle to get everything right and the worst part is Elegant Occasions could have not cared any less. My brother, the groom, called them the day before the wedding to complain and all they could say is "Well, what do you want us to do?" and then they said a manager would give him a call, which never happened, the wedding was two days ago and he is still waiting for the call. They wasted no time taking $170 from each of us for the tux rentals but once they had our money they also wasted no time treating us like crap. They were also very rude when we went and tried on the tuxes. When I went and tried mine on I walked out of the dressing room with my hands in my pocket simply due to habit and the employee who was measuring me yelled "GET YOUR HANDS OUT OF YOUR POCKETS, YOUNG MAN!" I felt really stupid and embarrassed seeing as there were other people in the store at the time. None of the employees have any customer service what so ever. They are very nice when they are asking for money and swiping your card but once that is over they seriously treated us like we were nothing. They also cannot get anything right, I am not sure what the point of getting our measurements was when most of the sizes were wrong and when stuff is wrong they act like it's our fault. It's ridiculous how this place treats their customers. Please do not let this place ruin your special day, go someplace else for your dress and tuxes. I would NOT recommend this place to anyone. I was asked to be in a wedding that is November 3rd, 2018, we went in and ordered our dresses in the beginning of April. We finally got all the girls together and made the trip down there. We walk in, Yes we had an apt, and the girl states, "dresses are this way", awesome. We start looking, she hands the bride an Ipad and literally walks away, the bride has to DO EVERYTHING on the Ipad, our addresses, names, etc, she never helped us with styles, helping us try on, removing the dresses, Absolutely no help at all! Not even to the bride herself. I thought that Davids Bridal was very pushy and thought that I would try more local....big mistake, I'm married, have been in 5 or more weddings, so this isn't my first rodeo. Davids Bridal was ten times better. I am not the person that writes reviews, but this definitely needed one. THEN we get a call that the dresses need a rush order, they wont make it in time, which we asked AT LEAST 4-5 times if they would make and were assured they would, Ooooo yes and we had to pay for the rush order. Our dresses were shipped to the bride, never in my life....shipped to her front step, thank god we live in a small community and we know everyone. Three of the girls in this wedding are actually getting married and were interested in coming back since its closer and more local. NO WAY, no way will they go here, I am willing to drive and pay whatever it takes to have my dress altered somewhere else just so I don't have to come back to this place. Looks like others had an enjoyable experience, I say "Ladies, don't waste your time, money and stress here." read more

The defining mark of a a company isn't what happens when they do something well, it's when something goes wrong and they step in to take care of the customer. I could not be more disappointed with Elegant Occasions inability to take care of me with an issue I had nothing to do with. I was asked to be a bridesmaid in a wedding relatively "late into the game." And ordered my dress from E.O. I happen to live in Minneapolis, which is a 6 hour round trip drive for me. When I received my dress, I put it on- and immediately noticed it was way, way too small (as in, the back was 4 inches short of closing too small). Knowing I have lost weight since I submitted my measurements, I knew I wasn't crazy. There had to be something wrong with my dress. I took it to the bridal shop (where I purchased my own wedding dress and had alterations), where my gal told me the dress was not in fact the size it stated on the label (meaning it was a smaller size with the wrong label on it). Having worked as a manager in a large electronics retailer for 13 years, I know silly stuff like that happens, so I called and asked to speak with a manager at E.O. I explained my situation, and told her in order to be able to wear the dress, it had to be completely remade (by my seamstress) and was going to cost me $125 plus a rush fee of $35. I was polite, and wanted to be refunded that amount for the inconvenience, as I think anyone would. Diane, the manager told me in order to do that, I would have to stop in, have the dress sent back for the makers to see. Except, that would mean I needed to drive 6 hours there, send the dress in, and have it sent back to me. In one week. I didn't have the time for that, nor should I have been expected to do that, when this wasn't an issue I had anything to do with, except being the recipient of the wrong size dress. The wedding came and went, and I called Diane back (previously leaving messages with her asking for a call back, of which I did not receive). Only to be told "her hands were tied." I have had customers purchase a television... for up to a couple thousand dollars. Get home and discover the screen was smashed (hey, it happens). And at that point, I had options. I could tell them to get bent, that we didn't make the TV, so they had to to take it up with the manufacturer because my "hands were tied." Or, I could realize the power of taking care of a customer. That I would be taking the loss, but the lifetime value of that person, and the people they tell was more important. When someone was nice, I was even more understanding. That didn't happen with this company. I have contacted the Better Business Bureau, and my credit card company. I will continue to leave my story as a review on any forum I can. Elegant Occasions, Diane and company, you do have options. You just chose not to exercise them. To anyone purchasing dresses from this company, I sincerely hope it is perfect for you. If not, the folks here will not take care of you. I can't tell you how to run your business, and I am sure I am in the minority of the issues you experience, but what a disappointment. I purchased my wedding gown here and decided to also get bridesmaid dresses here also. The wedding dress shopping was, to say the least, odd. I was put into a room with some computers and had to look through a slide show to pick out dresses I thought I wanted to try on, instead of me telling them what I wanted and the consultant picking them out for me or being able to look at the dresses myself to figure out if I liked it or not. I did end up finding a beautiful dress and buying it. It came in in April like they said it would but it was made wrong, I had put a custom order in to change the back to a corset instead of a zipper. Needless to say, I had to reorder the dress and it is now a month and a half before the wedding a no wedding dress yet. The bridesmaid dresses just came in, now a month and a half before the wedding, after calling multiple times to figure out where they were because they were supposed to be in at the end of April and didn't come in until the end of June! We ordered all of the dresses way in advance, October and November, and they still ended up being super late. I'm not impressed with this store at all or the fact that everyone at the store I talked to was not overly concerned that all of the dresses ordered are only just coming in now so close to the wedding. read more

I purchases my wedding dress here and when I found the dress I also found a nice belt that I wanted to go with it. I ordered them at the same time. So 5 months later my dress arrived but no sign of the belt so they called them and I was told 3 more weeks for the belt. At that time it was only 6 weeks until my wedding and the belt needed to be sewn on so kind of cutting it close. The dress was nice, not really any complaints with that but 3 weeks later still no belt so I called and was put on hold for about 5 minutes, the girl came back on and said it was there in a box that was in the back room. They don't open boxes right away? Also I was told that the belt was a Tiffany belt and it cost $200. Come to find out it was shipped from China and when looking online I found nothing like it under Tiffany but instead Christina Wu...false advertising? When I picked up the belt it was in a clear ziplock so I didn't open it, I just went home. When I opened it at home there was loose beading and a few beads actually fell off!!! I did not use the belt on my dress and it sucks because they of course don't take returns so I guess I will try to sell it. Also it had a tag on it but with no name on it....Tiffany huh? ya right. Now for the girls working there. They are all pretty nice but they always seem flustered like there is too much going on and not enough employees of something and this was every time I went there. Another thing that sucks about that place is that only a certain few are allowed to process payments....really? so of course they all run around like their heads are cut off looking for someone to take a payment for them--unprofessional. I think they need to work on some things there. We also rented 2 tuxes from there and no complaints on those, they were there on time and fit great. read more

When I initially called to set up a bridal appointment, I had asked about the number of plus size dresses they had available. They stated they had a numerous dresses in extended sizes, but this was not the case. Before I could tell the consultant what I was looking for, I was shown to a room with a computer to review their "digital catalog" and the consultant left the room. This catalog was a collection of 60 PowerPoint slides, and of these only a small handful were above a size 16 while most were at the very small end. After about 20 minutes, the consultant returned and pulled a few dresses, however with the limited selection, none were any I would consider. As I prepared to leave, another consultant arrived with a dress having the details for which I was looking. Trying it on, I could have been happy with this dress, but my overall experience made me hesitant to purchase the dress. I was pushed to order the dress that day and to have it rush ordered as well with heavy additional charges after being told it would take 9 months for the dress to arrive otherwise. After leaving, the store contacted me twice pushing to get an order made immediately. Overall, the atmosphere, "digital catalog," limited plus size selection, and sales approach made for an unpleasant and awkward shopping experience. read more

We went with my daughter to look for her wedding dress and Laurie did an awesome job helping her find a dress. We looked for the entire Sunday afternoon.as the mother of the bride I decided to look too since they had a great selection to choose from. I found My dress. Laurie had to help with another lady and we were put with another person. They did my measurements and said I needed a 12. I explained I normally wear a 14 but I put faith in them since they know how these run. the dress came in two months which was suppose to take 6. I went to try it on and it was able to zip up but lets say snug....:( I talked to the associate that helped me and she said your seamstress will help you with that. I was concerned and she basically sent me out the door.I called back the next day and told them my concerns. they said that the sample dress had fit and my measurement were half way between the 12-14 and and the 12 was the size. and there wasn't enough time to get a new one. I paid close to 400$ for this dress really it's not 29.99$ They have done nothing to help with the matter. I have photos from that day that the sample dress did "not" fit it could have been another dress and they are cut different. I have not gained weight and acutally lost so the dress would have never fit to begin with. We live 3 hours away and it isn't a trip downtown to visit the store so I was concerned to even get our dresses there. My daughter got her dress there and her 7 bridesmaids and some of the guys tuxes,I would think they would have done a better job at customer service.Esp when you listen to their phone while waiting... we'll do anything to please our customers.
