This beautiful bar is inside the Union Station Hotel in the heart of Downtown STL. This is the "hotel bar" if you will but it's honestly so much more. The paintings and stained glass surrounding the bar are stunning. Every hour, on the hour until 11pm they do a music and light show. I watched while enjoying a glass of Prosecco. You can order food from the restaurant at the bar and enjoy at the bar or one of the surrounding tables. Definitely worth checking out! read more

Most train stations from this era have an impressive lounge area but the Grand Hall at the St. Louis Union Station is honestly top tier from a design perspective. It's honestly breathtaking and it makes me wish we put this much artistry into modern airports. I feel as if folks from the 1920s would think we'd really gone downhill if this was their baseline for travel decor. I love that this space has been transformed into an elegant hotel lobby and that you can work from here, or enjoy a coffee or beer while taking in the impressive ambiance of the space. Something I didn't love was the giant roach I saw scurry by, and also that you aren't allowed to bring in outside food or drink. I do get that they have a kitchen, but it's also the hotel lobby and I tend to think a hotel lobby should function as a gathering place and be a little more welcoming in that way. How even more awesome to find out that last call, at least on the weekend, is 12:30a. I happened to be at the hotel visiting a friend when I learned all this. So we politely hung out in the Lobby Bar area until almost 1a. Lol. Full bar and they offer a food menu (no food this visit). The space is large and open, offers a variety of seating options including various couch sections perfect for large groups. Being located near the soccer stadium, ferris wheel, aquarium and so forth, this serves as the perfect space to wrap up the evening. read more

We booked 2 nights 2 weeks later and were surprised, disappointed and ultimately angered that the hall/shows/ bar and restaurant were closed and unavailable to the public, or even guests, due to a wedding. This was all non disclosed and the main reason why we picked this hotel. *** good luck having anyone pick up the phone if it goes through the main / front desk, unless you get Ella who was the only professional employee. We were able to enjoy the Grand Gall the following night, and they were packed. Our server ( a pretty blonde whose name escapes me) was hustling, and when she accidentally brought me the wrong drink, comped our first round on her own accord. Talk about outstanding customer service. Further, the manager himself, ( Tom, as we later learned), literally removed his jacket, rolled up his sleeves, and helped serve, etc. Truly a professional here; very hands on and personable as he served our food as well. We came last year and had an incredible experience! This year was very different. Very long wait time to get drinks, food, had to move to sit at the bar to get service. Got no waters, silverware, and would've had another drink but were never asked. Our first pizza was burnt before they brought it out so they made another pizza which came out underdone. What a wonderful event with a surprise twist! As soon as you arrive at the venue location, there are beautiful historic doors that you get to walk through, and a beautiful staircase that winds up into a magnificent ballroom. The food was was a large variety. They had seafood options, so I was glad that they had other options for people like me that have allergies and unfortunately are not able to eat seafood even though I carry my EpiPen and give myself a little injection when I'm feeling frisky and I want to be part of the cool group. My favorite was the onion dip with the pork rinds that they had to offer. Call me lame, but I am always a sucker for a good pork rind. They were almost the size of my hand crispy and full of flavor, but not overpowering. I also thoroughly enjoyed the triple chocolate dessert my goodness I almost had a smack my own hand it to stay away from the desert area. Lastly, their salad was Fantabulous, and they included blue cheese crumbles in the salad. It was like they knew I was coming in for that alone they get five stars for being unique. I never had an empty plate. I'm not kidding when I say before I finished my last bite they were offering to take my plate and clean the table. The drink options also a large variety and delicious. Beautiful spot for a wedding! We had such a good time and it was so elegant. I loved the light show at the beginning of the Reception and the lighting was super pink for the majority of the reception which I loved. Staff were super efficient and kind as well, I will never forget this experience! All I can say about, The Grand Hall is that it truly is, "Grand". It really lives up to its name. It is massive in size and in beauty. I personally enjoy stopping by with a friend, ordering a Martini or Manhattan and enjoying a good conversation while relaxing in one of their comfy seating areas. After being redeveloped starting in the early 2000's, the Grand Hall was transformed into one of the most beautiful event spaces in the city. I love taking friends and family who visit St. Louis to the Grand Hall as a gateway into exploring Union Station. It's the perfect way to set the stage for the day's experience. At the top of the hour every hour, the Grand Hall darkens and they use high powered projectors to present a magical display on the massive, vaulted ceiling. They freshen the shows up fairly often, so it gives you a good reason to go back. I also find that the bar within the Grand Hall is a great "date night" place, especially during COVID times as the massive space gives you ample opportunity practice safe social distancing. Yes coffee lovers & business meeting geeks, Grand Hall has a small but mighty Starbucks located inside. The Grand Hall has soooo many wonderful attributes to be enjoyed. Each hour on the hour from 4pm until 2am the lights dim and the entire ceiling and walls become the screen for a stunning 5 minute visual feast. Since I was staying at the Union Station Hilton, it was so convenient to have such a beautiful place just steps away from my room. Besides the amazing architecture and electronic wizardry, the staff was the best! I spent about 2 hours each day of my 2 night stay here and had outstanding drinks, recommendations and genuine conversations with 4 different staff; all masters of mixology and customer service. Well this place is pretty amazing. I took the train into St. Louis and stayed at the neighboring hotel. Weary eyed, I walked from the gray Amtrak station on a breezy, cloudy December day hauling my bags and a bit worn out. When I walked into the Grand Hall, it was like a thousand lights turned on and I sort of froze. The architecture in here is incredible, with high arched ceilings and absolutely decked to the nines in holiday goodness. Green and red lights, a gigantic Christmas tree and holiday music bouncing off the walls. During my time there, I witnessed a holiday dinner, countless light shows (not sure what to call them?), and a big private holiday party. While a tad tricky because it's attached to a Union Station hotel but also operates as a stand-alone event venue, I can say this Grand Hall was pretty grand and definitely put me in the holiday mood. read more

(There is no dining menu or hours provided via Hilton hotel page) Menu looked good and they are open until midnight according to their page. This is not the case. The menu is NOT for the bar area of The Grand Hall (according to our server) the menu they have is 1/6th of what is available. So get ready for your cheeseburger and fried appetizers. My daughter ordered specifically from the child's menu (literally pointing at her choice) she was given the adult truffle version of Mac and cheese-so she didn't eat. We also asked for dressing on the side, which was delivered with all 4 salads fully dressed in another dressing. We only tasted it as we couldn't see it due to lack of lighting after laser show finished. The seasonal drink menu was sold out by 9 pm on a Wednesday, poor planning. PROS: gorgeous building, cool light show. Comfortable atmosphere. CONS: worst communication skills with our server, terrible webpage and inaccurate information on multiple levels. This is not the first time we have stayed here but the first time it has been this level of disappointment. With a brand new soccer stadium across the street Hilton needs to make an investment with this place-do better. read more

The Grand Ballroom at Union Station is a beautiful and historic event space. I was lucky to attend a large Yelp St. Louis event in this space and was impressed. From the moment you enter until you leave there are just little details that make this Ballroom stand out. The the 65- foot barrel vaulted ceiling is beautiful beyond measure. Tiffany Stained Glass Windows, Frescos, Gold Leafing all make this Ballroom one of a kind. A stand out stained glass window in the space is the "Allegorical Window" which is framed by the famous "Whispering Arch". The Whispering Arch is clearly marked with a plaque at the second floor North Entrance. When you whisper in this area, the person standing across the room can hear what you said. It works best if you go one at a time with talking and listening. The Grand Ballroom offers 20,000 square feet of space. There were plenty of places to enjoy in The Grand Hall. I particularly loved the mezzanine behind the bar. The staff were friendly, respectful, and available. There were workers around every corner. I hope to attend an event in The Grand Hall again soon. read more

The space is extremely large and open so it gives you a variety of options to play with, regarding your event and theme. It sets the mood for romance, elegance, excitement and intimacy.The bar is also amazing and classic with that modern touch, fully loaded so I imagine they should be able to concoct a delicious cocktail for your enjoyment. We witnessed numerous creative light shows, showcased on the ceiling. The seating is classy and comfortable from what we experienced. It was my first time there and hopefully not my last. If you haven't been to Grand Hall since it has been renovated than you're missing out. This space has quickly turned into a "must see" for those who are visiting the city and for locals who don't know what they're missing. This space has quickly turned into one of my favorite places to impress friends or acquaintances. Last night an old friend from high school was in town visiting from LA and wanted to go somewhere awesome they haven't been before. Grand Hall was the perfect spot. Seriously. They have valet but parking during the week day is easy since there are plenty of meters out front. Walking into Grand Hall when it's lit up is nothing short of breathtaking. I can't even describe how beautiful it is. The photos don't even do it justice. Just go. I have yet to eat here but I've gotten drinks on multiple occasions. First off, the service is phenomenal. This area doubles as a hotel lobby for guests but by no means feels like a hotel lobby. It feels like one of the nicest bar/lounges that St. Louis currently has to offer. Another huge plus? It's super reasonably priced! All the craft brews were $5-7, cocktails are $9-10, and wine by the glass is $8-20. These prices are basically the same as any other decent bar in town. My recommendation? Get the Old Fashioned. It was amazing and had a rock candy stick to use as a stir. Also, in the evening they have an amazing light show that happens on the ceiling. The best way to describe it is "magical." Sounds cheesy? Yes, but it's not. It's quite mesmerizing. Pro tip: When you walk in the primary entrance of GH there is a spot called "The Whispering Arch." It has a little plaque on it explaining the whole thing but basically you can whisper into the wall on one end and someone standing on the opposite side of the arch can hear you loud and clear! Had the pleasure of coming here for the Yelp Grand Hall Christmas party and this venue alone made me so happy to be there. The valet outside was quick and allowed super easy access to the party. The archways, the stairs, just everything here is very beautiful in it's art deco style to look at. The overflow parking I believe was a bit away, which was a drawback, but ubering here or using valet may be simple solutions to sidecut walking the stretch between the parking lot and the venue which was a block or so. Bartenders here were all friendly and poured great cocktails. Bottled beers were served and although the variety was minimal, offerings of cocktails and wine was a great divergence from a bottle. Stopping by the Grand Hall to snap some photos or take a group here who's visiting would be memorable for anyone interested in learning more about the history of the building, the city, or just wanting interesting pictures. read more

I suggest getting the Washington Ave! There's also a great light show every so often so it's a beautiful place to be to watch it. After riding the "elevator" to the top of the Gateway Arch, my wife and I decided it was time to relax with a cocktail. A friend of ours had just been to St Louis, and recommended this spot -- definitely a must-see in this city! The Grand Hall is part of the old Union Railroad Station, and the bar is in the Grand Hall. With its 65 foot tall arched ceiling, decorated with frescoes and lead-glass windows, the hall is grand indeed. Every hour from 5-10 pm there is a (free) 3D light and music show projected on the ceiling. After seeing one show, featuring the "Magical Mystery Tour" album, we ordered another round and watched the next light show, featuring Queen. Absolutely incredible! My wife enjoyed her "Rock Island" Old Fashioned; my choice was the excellent New York Central "Grandhattan". We repeated for the second round. Complementing the fine beverages was an order of the pretzel bites with beer cheese sauce. Plump and airy, the bites were an excellent appetizer, and the generous sauce portion allowed "double dipping". Highly recommended all around! read more

They turned an empty, nearly-unused old waiting room into a classy cocktail lounge with spectacular laser and light shows with history lessons projected in. This is such a gorgeous and unique space! I was here for a Yelp event and really enjoyed the ambiance. The layout of the couches and tables as well as the super long bar were really conducive for small talk and meeting people. As a St. Louis newbie (moved here about a month ago), I don't really know what the Grand Hall looked like before the renovations, but they did a great job as far as I can tell! The architecture is already stunning and they accentuated it even more by adding a light show, which is expertly choreographed to music. It's very entertaining! read more
